Mar 24, 2012I've made a number of changes this month, including:Posted in: PC Servers
- Removed the whitelist. Now anyone can join and can freely roam the server to see if it's right for them.
- Ranks are back. Added a new Guest group for new players, restricted build rights until the player applies on the forums.
- As of Minecraft 1.2.4, generated new survival and creative worlds (AltairII and Morbius).
- Updated the main server post here, which was sorely needed.
- Increased bandwidth to support up to 20 players, increased cap to 15 for now.
- Added new hard drives (15K RPM SATA, RAID1), and new backup system.

Internet Speed: 14.5 MB/Sec download. 0.5MB/sec(500KB/sec) Upload
500Kbps? 3-5 players at best. If you load Spout and force Spoutcraft clients, you may be able to top out at 6, but it really depends on how many chunks are being accessed at any given time.

I have a minecraft server (shovenose.dyndns.org)
The question: How do I change the spawn place (for everybody, not just one player)
I use CraftBukkit/Bukkit, on Windows Server 2003
Use a 'general commands' plugin such as CommandBook or Essentials. With CommandBook you would simply stand on the new spawn coordinate and type /setspawn.
Dec 20, 2011Did you remove the older Permissions 3.x plugin? If not, it'll step all over Essentials.Posted in: Server Support and Administration
I don't use Group Manager (I refuse to ever touch it), but your permissions nodes don't look right.
should just be..
Dec 20, 2011Even Windows XP will use up 200-400MB of memory just getting to the desktop. In your case, a Linux distro makes perfect sense, assuming you have some experience with it or the patience to learn. MineOS is an option too.Posted in: Server Support and Administration

Whenever I try to restore a backup on McMyAdmin, it just gets stuck at 0 percent. It will not load. If you could please help me, it would be great. I use provision host as my host. Thanks!
Change the extension on one of the backup files to .zip and see if you can open it in WinRAR/WinZip/etc.
Dec 11, 2011The server world was reset about a week ago. We could really use more builders. What are you waiting for? Apply for the whitelist now!Posted in: PC Servers
Dec 11, 2011You need to be more specific. What's not working? Post relevant info or errors from your server log. For anything beyond basic setup issues, you're better off posting on bukkit dev (http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/logblock/)Posted in: Server Support and Administration

See for yourself:
I've added you to the white-list. Welcome!
You may want to register on the forums. I'm not requiring applications there right now, but you'll get important server information there at a minimum.
Sep 17, 2011I assume you're referring to bukkit permissions? You can't get any simpler than bPermissions.Posted in: Server Support and Administration
There are two video tutorials on that page, along with a configuration example. I could regurgitate everything, but why bother when it's clearly documented.
Hope that helps, and good luck!
