    Version 1.3.4 has been released!

This release improves water rendering. Several water-related rendering bugs have been fixed, and the performance has been significantly improved. For scenes with a large amount of water the rendering speed has increased by more than a four times.

There is a new tab in the Render Controls dialog that groups together all water settings. The new water tab has settings for water opacity, visibility, and color. The default water settings can replaced with your own configuration.

A setting for Y cutoff has been added. The next time chunks are loaded blocks below the Y cutoff are ignored.

    Change Log

    • Added Y cutoff setting (blocks below the Y cutoff are not loaded)
    • Added new tab in the Render Controls dialog for water related settings
    • Added slider for water visibility
    • Added slider for water opacity
    • Removed the "clear water" option (which is made obsolete by water
    • visibility slider)
    • Added custom water color setting
    • All water settings can now be stored as custom defaults
    • Removed the visible sea border in water world rendering mode
    • Lily pads now cast shadows
    • Display a warning when a scene from a newer version of Chunky is loaded
    • Saving a scene with a different name no longer hides the old scene by renaming the old scene description file with the .backup suffix
    • Added scrollbar to Render Controls dialog for small screens (only visible when the whole window does not fit on screen)

Version 1.3.3 has now been released. Chunky can now render the new Minecraft 1.8 door types (spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak). You can download the new version here: http://chunky.llbit.se/download.html

It would be truly awesome if Chunky could somehow work with MCPatcher and connected textures, but being a complete programming novice I have no grasp of the huge task I'm probably asking of you. As it is Chunky is still one of the few truly amazing must use MC programs out there. Huge thanks again. :)

I am not working on connected textures right now. The priority now is to add the missing vanilla blocks/entities such as banners, paintings, etc. Thanks for your comment!

Hey guys, I just released Chunky 1.3. If you have had problems with loading and resuming a render in the previous version, 1.2.3, then version 1.3 hopefully fixes this!

Hi everyone, sorry for not posting in a long time. I have been busy as usual, but I have finally released Chunky 1.2.0!!

Download links and release notes as usual have been posted to the subreddit. Click here for downloads/release notes!

Version 1.2.0 works with Minecraft 1.7.2 worlds and should fix those black/red boxes in the map view (incorrectly indicates corrupt chunks). For quicker updates look at the subreddit or my blog. I don't really browse these forums that often.

Sure. This is one of my recent modern builds. Under the walkway from the mountain, bottom left, you can see it.

It all looks that way, waterfalls or pools make no difference. This was with pamplemousse texturepack, a 16x16 pack- in default, it's a deeper blue, but the texture and finish remain the same.

Changing the water rendering options made no difference either, nor did altering any options within the world save in minecraft, or optifine, and removing optifine after reverting all settings to default also did nothing. i'm not too upset about it, it still looks awesome, just wondering how i can get it to the next level.

I can't try anything new at the moment, that's 34,000 SPP out of a target 100,000, and I still have about 65 hours to go.

That's really weird. I don't know why the water turns out like that. It could be that the water texture chunky uses is missing somehow. I don't really have any ideas for how to fix it. Maybe running Chunky directly from the Jar file helps.

So is it not being able to render things like the potted flowers something that will be fixed soon?

I did read about entities like paintings so I know why those are missing.

Potted plants will take some time to add. They work a bit differently to ordinary blocks, so they are a bit more difficult to render correctly.

I've done a quick release of 1.0.15 to address a bug in 1.0.14 that caused errors when generating render dumps for scenes where the canvas width was not equal to the canvas height.

    Windows/Linux download link for 1.0.15: https://launchpad.ne...unky-1.0.15.zip
    Mac download: https://launchpad.net/chunky/1.0/1.0.15/ download/Chunky-1.0.15.dmg

I was able to track down the cause of this error. Chunky could not locate your Minecraft installation's saves directory, where your Minecraft worlds are saved. Unfortunately this seems to cause Chunky to crash at the moment.
    Quote from RenkieCraft

Does Chunky's rendering engine make use of multiple cores ( 3 in my case ). And if not, will it do so in future updates?

Yes, it does. I even know of a person who has run Chunky on a 32 core EC2 node!
