posted a message on What was your first Minecraft Experience like?
The classic beta 1.3 experiance, I went out exploreing, it got dark and I died to a creeper. Respawn , dig a hole in the side of a hill and wait it out becouse it was as dark as fear outside. Sunrises and I go exploring more, sun sets, dig a hole and eat a sanwich in RL. Find a great spot to settle and then I build on the surface during the day and mine by night.

I dug tunnels under the ground to get from A to B at night. Back then night time was really night time, people died. The game kept me up for two days straight, no drugs including caffeine, just amazed at the simple yet versatile world notch made. Often after discovering things like making glass and rails I would just think to myself, "damn, not only do the Swiss make a fine watch but a sweet game!, Genius!"

posted a message on Do you think of Minecraft as an RPG, Survival, or Creative game?
To me, Minecraft is like a blank canvas at the start. Hand the same canvas to any number of people and you'll get different results.

What is important about minecraft is that it lets you express your imagination. If it wasn't for this simple aspect it would have never gotten popular. Almost no games have taken this approach since the early 90's which is real disturbing since most games don't make the player critically think anymore.

I think its way too easy, I am trying to exhaust the resources on my server so I kept the border small enough.
Want to turn it into an economy based setup eventually.

Check out the Terrafirmacraft Mod if you want to actually get reward for work. Nothing comes quick and in my opinion is the best survival mod out there for those who want the feeling of being challenged in minecraft. http://terrafirmacraft.com/wiki/Main_Page

Its runs fine on the beta jars up until the anvil patch. hmmmmmmm,,

Do you run a gtx 570 with no problems?

Have you even Googled minecraft and nevidia gtx570 and seen people complaining?

A booster fan is is the lovely device that speeds up when temps get high on your video card run by MSI performance card booster , but you would know that if you owned one.

    This is the question:
HAS ANYONE FOUND A SOLUTION FOR THE NIVIDIA GTX570 ERROR CODE 7?

I didn't ask for 3rd semester computer trouble shooting tips. So if your not familiar with the problem 1st hand then your on the wrong thread.

Also no offence to you, but unless your a mojang developer you have no grounds to say its not a selective bug that , "pun intended" TIC's the 570 off into error 7.

There is no driver on the planet that helps and no video setting. Temps are great and all other games run fine even on fast/ultra settings.

So I'm gonna throw this out to see if someone found a fix because over a year of google searching I have found no solution yet other than to buy a different series of nividia card.

Ever since the anvil release my gtx 570 has a time out error which results in a black screen , driver crashes ( error code 7) booster fan stops and i have to restart the fan and the game.

This only happens at night time, rarely when above ground but rampant below ground.

Before anvil this has never happened, ive contacted nividia support and to make a long story short, they say its mojangs problem because of the endless updates they do.

If you have had this problem and fixed it please do share, i only hope with each patch they fix this bug but am left disapointed. =(

posted a message on [1.6.4]TerraFirmaCraft - Survival mode as it should've been.
I have been playing this mod for about a month now and all I can say this is the best thing to ever happen to minecraft since minecraft.

It has the depth and difficulty of the older generation games that give you that feeling of achievement rather than instant reward. Great job!!

    Quote from Alisonb76

I'm not really that happy about the most recent versions of Minecraft. It seems to get even more boring every time they update. I want something exciting.

I am not sure if you want to be more entertained or challenged but if ya want the beta feel; try terrafirmacraft , it puts the challenge back into survival and much more. http://terrafirmacraft.com/wiki/

I am not a fan of MODs but this one actually got me to abandon regular minecraft due too how much more pampered it has become.

On topic~ The new generation is looking good so far but the endless caves need some filling in still.

Ok, we have a peaceful setting, easy, normal, and hard. Then there is hardcore mode.

This mostly effects your health in general. That is four options for difficulty and then the hardcore game mode.

These only four options could easily be multiplied by having more depth like a sub difficulty category.

    examples:
Shortly after beds came out, the realistic darkness of night was removed and became more of a twilight. This made it twice as safe to travel at night effecting the overall difficulty of the environment. No longer could a creeper ambush you, or a skeleton snipe you in its natural habitat, darkness.

    Night time
    Default night l------------------------------------------------------Dark night

Now, if we were playing on hard we would add another difficulty enhancer for the player that could just turn on or off. Moving the slider to dark night, turning it on, would make the difficulty of hard to harder.

    Fire spread

    Default ------------------------------------------- Realistic

Again, difficulty increases, turning it on or off will effect the players decision making threw the whole game on were to put that fireplace in their wood house.

    What about animal generation?

    Few -----------------------------------l------------ Herds

Again we could increase animals or decrees effecting the difficulty.

    Mineral abundance?

    Few Metals ----------------l--------------------- Abundant Metals
    Few Gems -----------------------------l-------- Abundant Gems
    Few Coal -------l------------------------------- Abundant Coal

In short adding in depth options like this would make the difficulty experience more customizable and far less rigid.

These are just a few off the top of my head that are already part and have been in the game.

If you like this alternative to balancing difficulty and game play with out changing the core game or would like to add on feel free. Let me know what you think!

posted a message on Minecraft isn't dying, just changing in a bad way.
    Quote from Bjossi

Skeletons got a much needed buff in 1.5, zombies get a bit of a buff in 1.6 I have read and perhaps creepers will get one as well in future versions, like creeping slightly faster (by 5-10%) for example. But what is needed the most I think is a new and tougher hostile mob. Haven't these same 4 guys (zombie, skeleton, spider, creeper) been in the game since alpha? We do have the slime also but that mob is a joke in terms of difficulty. We need something scarier and more dangerous than the base mobs that would even keep the veterans on their toes at night. Perhaps the game could have a new system where new hostile mobs start spawning gradually more frequently based on number of in-game days? Just my thinking-aloud...

It is not mobs that need to be buffed to make them more dangerous it is the environment. Before they got rid of night time and changed it to twilight, you were in big trouble if you didn't have torches or kept your eye on the sun. This is were the classic term , "dig a hole in the ground and wait it out", came from.
Beds solved that and had a logical purpose. Now with twilight, beds are a bit more nostalgic than an actual need. Just having the night time be literally night, makes a huge difference and gives all mobs the scary advantage they once had even before the AI adaptation. As of now creepers might as well have fire works shooting out of the butts cause you can see em coming from chunks away. Before creepers owned the night, now there the ones hiding.

Now to quell assumptions , no I do not wish for the whole community to have to go back too true night time, but add the option in the options menu. Having a good sandbox options system for a sandbox game keeps it true to the name because no gamer likes riding on a developers rails because it gets repetitive, boring, or for lack of better words; lacking of new challenges. Mojang talked about putting more depth into the options system back in Vegas and someday I am sure they will. For example; Having options to turn back on realistic fire spread and night time would be a good move to fill in gaps between players tastes rather than alienating ether side.
