hey everybody, i just wanted to check in and let you know i'm still alive. I'm going through some personal stuff so I haven't been able to get online recently but i will soon.
I'm liking the sound of that multi-world aspect. If we could teleport to the old maps and still be able to interact with a stable connection, that would be great. And I think if borderlands is used, the members of the server should decide if the server map should be expanded. Maybe once a good map size is reached people should start exploring vertically more, or through caves and such, and of course focus on building with the materials they find there. The map doesn't have to be so gigantic that it becomes unstable in order for there to be sufficient room for constructions and the like. I think quality and filling the landscape should be focused on instead of the size of the map, so therfore borderland should be used strategically. Though I've never run a server before, some of this info I got is general knowledge, some logical thinking, and reasoning used on other servers I play on and observe.
I am just offering tips for the server so a stable map can be made that will actually stick around for awhile. Consider them or not, I'm just trying to provide strategies which may preserve the wondrous creations and relieve the stress of those impacted by map resets. That's basically the purpose of this post.
Edit: And I may very well return actively to the server at some time, but like Sinn said, I may observe for awhile and see how people are handling this situation.
I have to agree with Ambassador, we really shouldn't expand the map to where its going to need to be reset again. Nobody enjoys having a map reset because we lose everything we've work so hard on building, if we could just keep the map restricted to a certain size and allow people to build vertically as Ambassador said I think it would make people a lot happier.
one of your mods seemed to have an obsession problem with me and kept following me
apparently i banned him from a server a few months ago?
anyways yeah check the logs. i didnt greif, he is abusing his powers.
Anyone playing on this server a few moths ago will remember the huge underground city that wtoto sparked.
It was really getting big and then you came on the server.
Griefing both the main hall, the diamond room, the Hub and a whole lot of other stuff.
When the server got reset some time ago,the banlist was also reset and your name with it.
The reason i remember you so well was because you tried to pin your griefing on me,only problem was that people watched you do it..!
So when you popped your head onto the server again i figured; why not have some fun with a griefer before i ban his ass :smile.gif:
Maybe you can team up with wtoto,he also got banned for griefing,im sure he doesnt mind having a sidekick :tongue.gif:
Have a nice day :smile.gif:
-Sinn
Well you seemed to be the only one who remembered me. I dont even remember coming onto this server before.
Having fun? Following me around is having fun for you lol?
I think you wanna get checked because if you do that in real life (if you dont know what that is please ask and ill explain) you will be arrested.

<18:28:35>
"Cakey [MC]": Listen.
I'd appreciate if some of you could test where the pack is so far, only about 8 textures on the pack though. Please take screen shots if you can, it will help me in further developing the pack.
I'm thinking about coding a mod that will allow you to carry around a lit torch in your hand for light, is that something we could possibly implement into the server?
Let me know the tools you need, or the file format, and I can be all over that as well. :smile.gif: I would love to just take photos of objects and use them as texture files. I'll have to look up how this all works.
I'm using photoshop and illustrator cs5 right now so the file is in a psd, i'm currently using real photos for textures, here's an example of what I have so far. Keep in mind that each tile is 512x512 so the total document size is 8192x8192 with animated water/lava and realistic ambient lighting for torches, moon and lava.
2048 Metered Plan
2GB Dedicated RAM
4GB Burst RAM
80GB Hard Disk Space
1000GB Transfer
100mbit Port
2 Dedicated IPs
My server is way better. The problem is not the specs, again it is notches' files.
From minecraft.net:
There’s a bug in there now where the cpu usage will shoot up through the roof sometimes, and I think that’s related to lighting. Immediately after the release, there was a hang bug where lighting would go into an infinite loop sometimes on existing loaded maps. I “fixed” that by making the loop always terminate after a certain number of iterations. My guess of what’s going on now is that the lighting probably keeps going into that loop over and over again.
