Windows 7 has the same system requirements if not lower, and supports more than XP does. After all, XP is 10 years old and support ends in April 2014. I'd go for 7 if I were you.
Maybe if people started donating for once in their life, this would never happen.
Yeah, flattr would be good if someone would even have it. Even dpkg only has 1626 flattrs - that is nothing counting the number of Debian/Debian derivatives users. 892 flattrs for wget? Pfffft...
Actually, I believe it does. I was able to run the Minecraft launcher by using this command at the command prompt:
javaw.exe -jar Minecraft.exe
If there was no jar file, it should have given me some error when it could not locate the jar file.
jar files are executable only if the user has java installed on their system. I liked the idea of making a ".exe" launcher because then I could also bundle the jre inside the program, so the user could run the game even if they did not have java. But yes, I could simply make the jar executable, but platform executable files give me more options, like a custom icon.
Also, are you sure it was created by exe4j? On the website, it says it uses java.exe, but when I run minecraft, I see javaw.exe running in the services. Not that it particularly matters.
I don't think it has the JRE in it. It just searches for the installed JRE.
You don't need to download the Linux version, it works perfectly fine with the regular clien :smile.gif:
Just create a .bat file containing:
java -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -jar "path to minecraft.exe"
Make sure to enclose the filepath in quotes as shown. Also worth bearing in mind is that if you are running 32-bit Java the maximum memory heap size is a little under 1.4GB if I recall, trying to use values greater than this will just cause the game to crash on startup, so make sure you have the 64-bit version installed.
Actually, the "normal" launcher is the jar.
@OP Wait, you are trying to INCREASE the RAM usage? Ha ha ha.
FPS problems aren't caused by RAM in your case.
Solution:
1) Download&install Ubuntu from http://www.ubuntu.com
2) Open the Ubuntu Software Center and search for "OpenJDK". Install the first result. Alternatively, open the terminal and type in "sudo apt-get install default-java"

Wrong!
Windows 7 demands 4x more of everything.

This is something that should be in vanilla. Why have mobs? They can be handled by mods!

How? Seriously, how is that related to griefing?

Now, let's try to get that "added by popular demand" status (points at the poll).

Maybe you should go to school to fill in the giant gaps in your education.
