AVX instruction set ,rewritten the code that handles networking,
dirextx11, openal, better ui, superfetch trim support,
better security, cleaned up some of the ui clutter,
new ms office that is alot better then,
03 aero that offers gpu acceleration,
home groups is a better feature , printer sharing that works more consistently ,
64bit xps 64bbit was bad and you know it, bit locker, usb drive caching,
Defragger is more efficient.
1) Okay. +10 points.
2) So? Don't see much difference in anything. +1 points, I am kind today.
3) And what? Doesn't improve performance of the OS itself. +3 points, I am kind today.
4) OpenAl isn't even Microsoft's. 0 points
5) Aahahahah, performance improvement? Gotta be kidding me. -4 points because it only decreased the performance.
6) Actually, this can be counted as a performance decrease. UAC is slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. -4 points. Reasonable, but slow.
7) More like added more UI clutter and increased the memory usage. -6 points.
8) Nothing to do with the OS. New offices are hard to use though, don't get me started on how stupid the UI changes are. 0 points.
9) Aero is a performance decrease. -8 points.
10) Well... I guess I could give that a few points if it has improved performance (though I am not sure). +4 points.
11) Don't see the difference in performance. 0 points.
12) Well, to be fair, XP is noticeably older, so I am not surprised. I would be more shocked than surprised if someone told me newer Windows versions had better 64 bit support. +4 points anyway.
13) Not a performance improvement. 0 points.
14) Eeeh, performance at cost of your data being lost? No thanks. 0 points.
15) Does anyone even use Microsoft's defragger? There are many faster and better ones. 0 points.
The terms surge protection device (SPD), or the obsolescent term transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS), are used to describe electrical devices typically installed in power distribution panels, process control systems, communications systems, and other heavy-duty industrial systems, for the purpose of protecting against electrical surges and spikes, including those caused by lightning
Okay, just please don't come back here complaining how your computer is fried. I know a person who had surge protection and still got the equipment fried. And that is without any external cords like phone lines.
Also, surge protection doesn't protect you from lightings striking the phone line which is connected to your router which is probably connected to your devices via an ethernet cable (wireless users will still have a fried router).
If you contact the manufacturer of your computer, you can usually get them to send you the appropriate recovery disks for that model. They might require a nominal fee.
This doesn't make sense. "They make Crappy UI's so we should get everything they make for free". Are you really that stupid? I find it difficult to believe. First off, I have no idea what the **** you could possibly be referring to with a "Crappy UI" and I find it additionally ironic, because- I mean, for ****'s sake, you claim to use Linux. If there is anything that has a shitty desktop environment, lack of standards, and all around a giant ball of **** in the domain of consistency, it's Linux.
As opposed to free software, where there are no UI designers at all and everything is 'designed' by the programmers who created the command-line tool that that GUI is wrapped around for no good reason.
Then you are, simply put, a blind fool basing all of your opinions on retrospective falsification and ad-hoc hypotheses. Unless you have something relevant to contribute to a thread like this it's probably best if you just let your FSF froth flow elsewhere.
1) No, I don't want to get everything for free. I just want to know that the money I pay goes to the right people. It is like in many universities - professors earn less than the average earnings in the university. So where does the money go? Of course, to the fat pigs that visit lectures once a year and put a few ticks in boxes.
2) Linux has some great desktop environments. Gnome, KDE, LXDE, XFCE. Lack of standards is why Linux is so powerful. Nobody is dictating what you should use.
3) No good reason? For example I am running a DE-free installation. Why would I need the GUI? Then again, it comes down to the dependencies. Let's say the GUI is made in Qt. I have a DE-free install. To install the application, I need Qt. To install Qt, I need a desktop environment, which I don't have and don't want to have. Now lets look at a case with separated GUI: the application doesn't require Qt. I install it, it runs fine. When I will have a DE, I will be able to install the GUI.
4) Wait, can you name me one major improvement?
I have a computer that got struck by lightning
(only 3 times all three managed to go through the circuit breaker aswell...=p)
Someway in hell it still works and it takes roughly an hour to open up the Start menu...(yes I have timed it)I also have waited for it to open up the internet and it is able to incredibly. It just took a really long time so I don't bother timing it.
It is about 9-10 years old.
Do I win the worst computer award? =D
I haven't turned the horrible thing on in a few months because I got a laptop after the first strike.
I understand not upgrading if your computer is too slow for 7, but xp is just worse. putting aside things like GUI and preference, you a re permanently stuck 2 direct x versions behind, making more and more games unable to run on your computer. there are also less and less programs being made or updated for xp as less people use it. If you really think xp is better, and then you are better off just staying on xp, you are delusional
DirectX can go die in a hole. It is popular because of Microsoft's marketing. Actually, most of the things Microsoft makes are popular because of their marketing.
Don't pirate though =/ It's illegal, morally wrong, and hurts software developers. Try all the legit routes possible before anything else.
"Illegal" okay.
"Morally wrong"? More like "morally right", because these damn bastards spend the money they get from you on some crappy UI design.
"Hurts software developers"? More like "Hurts UI designers/design activists".
The point of them isnt to be super usefull and go worldwide and sell a few million copies to microsoft.
Our aim here is to learn, if you have a problem with learning, feel free to comment about how bad learning is.
If they are for learning, why even publish them if they aren't useful? At least post them on your blog or something like that...
Not the worst, but yes, it is pretty bad. lol mines 6 gig of RAM so i have a good comp. but even a 3 gig is good.
Heck, stop this please. Storage capacity doesn't define anything unless it is smaller than 15 gigabytes, and the RAM size also doesn't matter much as long as you have over two gigs.

Surge protection? Against lighting? You are joking, right?
0
The problem is that you are running the server and the client on the same computer - some computers can handle that fine, while others will struggle.

Power breakers are useless against lightnings.

Verdict: can't run Minecraft. It is WAAAAAY too slow.

How mature... Well, not really surprised. You should go to school and learn some grammar before even touching a computer.
