question: with nethercraft, if you build a portal, do you get teleported to a nether version of the overworld?

Not exactly. It stil generates a random Nether, but it contains a wide variety of new content that's like the real world in a semi-hellish way! :log: :||||: ]" title="-<->" /> :Iron: :GP: :Spider: :Zombie: :soil: :sand: :Water: :Furnace: :Diamond: :Coal: :chestfront: [>>-i>] Everything has its equivalent in the Nether!

i ment if the overworld is like how nether is in the vanilla game nether (only 2 mobs and 3 unique blocks and 2 non unique)

So let's say you are up at level 5032 and you accidentally drop you diamond pickaxe. How should the game determine where the pick should land?

if using the 3d system of chunk loading of 16x16x16 chunks in every direction, the diamond pickaxe would stop moving when it hits the unloaded area.

    @Necrodoom

They obviously will not only fix visual problems, but also performance bugs which fix also the newest features their problems. What about the client-bug which closes it's self after an action in-game? These are not visual bugs, I guess.

who said notch will fix them? it would be like he ignored south west rule glitch since infdev/indev days.

and its impossible to enjoy game when 1.5 makes me crash everytime i try to play SMP.

BTW: some of the stuff in upcoming feature are there a very long time and mostly never get released.

maps will pretty much kill compass use, you just make a map, make a landmark, and go.

notch also said he is going to do prerformance improvement to 1.5, yet most people dont have any improvement using it.
I actually have to disagree with this. The map only covers a certain area. So, you'll need multiple maps, which means that it serves it's purpose without killing an existing item. If I want to just go sailing for a few miles, then return, I'd still my compass.

And, A lot of people have performance issues, myself including. And that's not all. He's making this a bug focused update, so we are going to see a lot of fixes, which I think everyone can get behind.

lets wait for 1.6 and see. imo 1.6 is not going to fix anything but visual bugs, like 1.5.

I was one of you. I was also one of the "disappointed in Notch & Mojang" people. However, I can see that things are turning around, according to the "Upcoming Features" Minecraft wiki. I'm really, really happy to hear that they are going to be fixing a huge list of bugs as well as adding something VERY useful. Maps. Simply, maps. That is something that, I believe, might have saved the 1.5 update. Too late for that, but oh well!

Anyways, just wanted to admit that what once seemed like a very disappointing and hopeless road is now starting to look promising again. I'm actually feeling pretty hopeful for the next update (I wasn't very hopeful for many of the beta updates after 1.3) and hope others are feeling the same way. Maybe all this change for good has to do with Jens not being around, so Notch has to pick up the game and work on it even more himself again.

I don't mind one bit. That was when the game was really good, in my opinion. When it was just Notch. Anyways, anyone else want to state any change in attitude?

Perhaps its a map from classic or early indev? If I recall correctly classic has a height of ~192.

classic's height, unlike beta's height, is editable. classic server wrappers allow you to generate maps of every size, unlike normal one, which limits to 3 sizes

Guys, we're not paying FOR mods. The mod developers are paying a small one-time fee to create a mod TEAM to create FREE MODS for everyone. Notch has a right to license the mods so they are property of Mojang and reserves the right to owning it and possibly implementing it into Minecraft.

    We all down with this?

yeah, mods like bukkit can have there plugin taken by notch and put into the minecrat server, but not before the traditional notch tweaking (AKA: bugging) so bukkit dev team loses there mod and cant do anything about it.

    yeah, thanks notch.
