okay bresso made it look better :biggrin.gif: but not fully gone ... what is the time limit for scrubbing it cant i take hours or it will damage the laptop ?

Since the plastic does not do anything, you can probably scrub at it forever until it's shiny. It might not ever get 100% 'back to normal' though, because scratches are scratches.

But the softer cloth you use, the easier it might be to get a 'shine'. You'll want to use something that is either 'micro-fiber' or something like a drying cloth... the less 'fibers' that stick out and the softer it is, the better. I think an old T-shirt you'll never wear anymore would work. T-Shirts are soft and they don't have many fibers sticking out.
But if I remember correctly, Brasso stains cloth, so any cloths you use probably won't wash out. So ask you mom first!

thanks alot :biggrin.gif: my laptop is almost back to normal it need scrubbing abit more and im tired of that cuz i scrubbed like 2 hours .. it looks almost 95 % clean :biggrin.gif:

Paypal isn't available in all countries, due to conflicts in laws not allowing them the security features they need in order to keep from being taken advantage of.

Chances are you're going to either have to get a credit card, or find somebody who does who will make the purchase for you in exchange for cash. Depending on what country you live in, it may also be possible to get a prepaid credit card at some stores or banks.

On the positive side though, it doesn't seem you'll have to worry about being unable to play in the meantime.

thanks alot :wink.gif: im sorta happy can i try it out on my ps3 ? i have 2 big scratches ?

You can do it on anything that is plastic, as far as I know... but I'd be careful with it.
The Brass-O stuff is CORROSIVE, which means it melts plastic. It only melts the tiny particles of the plastic, so it is only good for covering up microscopic scratches (like the ones made by toothpaste), but it is very important to clean it thoroughly with water/alcohol after using it.
Also, it was not intended to be used on plastic (it is silver/copper cleaning solution!), so I can't promise it will work on all types of plastic!

I've only used it on a couple things, like DVDs that were scratched and didn't work anymore. (It can fix the discs so they work again, if you do it properly) But I've never tried it on anything important, like a PS3.

where can i get the brass stuff ? where can i buy it ? im sorta sad about my laptop and the ps3 stupid sratches.. does a grocery store have it ?? i think my mom know where there is ... i gotta go and buy it tomorow and check cuz i cant open the laptop and take out the cover cuz i dunno how and its still under warranty tomorow ill go to the store and buy brasso i have a spray called : WIN ACRYLIC LACQUER here:

can i give it a try ? my color that i got in this spray is black..

The plastic around your screen is NOT glass. It is plastic, with a high-gloss finish.
By using toothpaste, you scrubbed off the gloss-finish.

To repair it 'back to new' you would need to gloss the entire frame again.... to do this you would have to dismantle the laptop, take the frame, sand it, then coat it with something like acrylic gloss clear coat (you buy this in spray cans in the paint section of stores). You would need to have an EXTREMELY clean, dust-free environment, too. And you would need to coat it lighly about 5 times, and allow it to dry completely between each coat (Drying can take anywhere from 1 hour to 1 day.)

And if you really don't care too much, and since you seem to love cheap tricks (you did use toothpaste on your laptop after all)...
You can use something called 'Brass-O', if you can find it (it'll be in the cleaning supply section of a grocery store). I think there are a couple other products similar to that one you can use. It is actually a corrosive product used to treat rusty metals, like silverware, to make them shiny again.

What it will do is melt the smaller particles of plastic, leveling out all the tiny scratches you made with the toothpaste. First, use 1/3 rubbing alcohol + 2/3 water and clean off the area. Then take a soft cloth and rub the Brass-O in for about a minute, rub in only one direction. Do this until you start seeing it shine again.
Then clean the area again with the alcohol and water solution.

Good as new... sort of. :wink.gif:

thanks alot :wink.gif: im sorta happy can i try it out on my ps3 ? i have 2 big scratches ?

Yeah I assume it's toothpaste or there wouldn't be a problem, if it's the side of the screen, but still a glass material.

I got this answer from yahoo answers, seems to be smart.

Do NOT use ANY type of Polish and thats what Toothpaste would be. See Polish is Gritt mixed with Paste- its Clears off Layers to make a "uniform" shine. You want something light, like Rubbing Alcohol on a Papertowel and rub Away and away over the edge to get "small hard particles off". Then go in gentle circles to rub off the black grease. Alcohol will rub out oil based and latex based stains.
Now if its really a oil that wont come out. Putting a small spray onto a Rag thats made out of washclothe material... NOT shoprag types..
You are using WD-40 in a gentle amount. It will NOT Strip the paint or finish. Then if all done- wipe it all around with rubbing alcohol. For the final part- I use a Orange Oil based Antibacterial wipes. It both Cleans AND leaves a layer of orange oil. It does NOT Smear and will fill in small scratches on screens on latops. also make them shine and it WONT wipe off all oily. I WSH i recalled the name- I know it was in a plastic "pull up" cyclinder. It was for around the house- NOT handwipes.. (Colors was orange n black) I believe*
Do NOT use ANY auto mobile stuff for luster! ARm & Hammer etc- no good. If you HAVE too- use pledge- but its wont saty for long but it works till you find the orange wipes i mean.. ALL of my keys never faded the four years I had the laptop thanks to the wipes..
    take care

thanks for this whats recommended ? what should i do ?

I don't know whether the problem is with the glass itself or with the pixels of the screen... would need a much better picture and a better description, your laptop details would be nice for proper troubleshooting... Also how much toothpaste did you use, how hard did you rub it in and what kind of cloth were you using, and was the cloth damp?

Also, what kind of screen is it?

my laptop is something similar tothat one:

the problem is that the haze is on the sreen sides not on the monitor the i used colgate on that shiny place ill try to give a better picture now a sec please..
