Jun 10, 2011nader4prez posted a message on [CTM][Collection] Vechs' SUPER HOSTILE Series (Spellbound Caves II out now!)So i started canopy carnage and i have been getting severe lag due to leaf decay. Not to mention many of the trees are quickly becoming leafless. So i was wondering if anyone knows of a mod that stops leaf blocks from decaying? It seems like such a mod would be really good for canopy carnage. It would totally be worth it to have to destroy leaves myself, if it meant i was getting better fps and the trees weren't disappearing.Posted in: Maps

Rather, the block the pressure plate is on needs to be touching the tnt. So:
will still work. And it works with any block too, so you can easily hide a stone pressure plate on top of stone, or wood on top of wood planks.
Not that I'm saying you should though...

Seems I forgot to post chapter 43 of Kaizo Caverns here, so here it is:
Also, chapter 44 is done, the Rollercoaster video!
Wow! I really liked the roller coaster. You did a great job of making it seem as real as possible. I can only imagine the amount of time and effort you put into it. Phenomenal work Zisteau! Ill be looking forward to trying it out myself when you post the save file.

Can't you just make the whole room only 2 high and then add signs or ladders on the top layer so the block counts as 'occupied'? Zombies,Creepers and Skeletons won't be able to spawn then because the room counts as a 1 block high room now (If it doesn't work by using signs/ladders then tell me)
Use halfsteps in the entire room except on 1x1 squares where the mushrooms will spawn to prevent spiders from spawning.
I did something like this for my farm. Except I made the entire growing area 1 block high with a two block high walkway around 3 sides. By placing water springs on the side without a walkway, all the mushrooms are washed into a gathering area. I then replant the area by placing mushrooms from my walkways. Monsters, including spiders, can't spawn in 1 block high areas and by making the floor out of halfblocks, nothing can spawn in the walkways.
May 27, 2011Ok. I just built my first attempt at a simple mushroom farm:Posted in: Survival Mode
= wall = sign or ladder placed on wall at head height = water source block
Note that there should be a two high ceiling over the entire thing and that the dirt blocks need to be placed on top of the floor so that there is only one space of air between them and the ceiling.
So using this farm is pretty simple. All you do is plant a few mushrooms on the dirt blocks and then let them spread. When you're ready to harvest, place the source blocks in their spots. All the mushrooms will be uprooted and washed onto the ground by the water. All you have to do is pick them up and then repeat the process. Remember, mushrooms need little to no light, so use little or no torches. Don't worry about monsters spawning, they shouldn't be able to because ladders are considered solid blocks and mobs cannot spawn in spaces occupied by them. Now that I think about it, you may also want to put half blocks on the floor where there are no ladders or signs. Monsters can't spawn on half blocks because they aren't considered solid or something like that.

Nice. I suspected that birches and pines required more space to grow but i couldn't find a source confirming it until now.
Anyways if you want to truly optimize your tree farm use normal trees. Place torches and saplings in a pattern like this:
Just repeat this pattern if you want it to cover more area. In this method, all the trees receive maximum light because they have a torch next to them. All the saplings will grow every time unless a nearby tree grows branches over them, which is unlikely.
May 9, 2011Yeah I have had similar problems with Nether portals. I continually find new ones all over my overworld map and they all lead me back to the same nether portal. But hey, free obsidian! Plus if you enter the nether and then exit you will be taken to your original overworld portal. so i keep them for quick travel over large distances.Posted in: Survival Mode

Oh... it's you.
It's been a long time. How have you been? I've been really busy making maps. You know... for people to play. Okay look, I've put in a lot of monster spawners that you're going to regret. But I think you can gear up and press onwards. For colored wool. You monster.
Yes actually, he's a total monster. He murdered his friends dog - right in front of him! He's an evil *******, but at least he makes up for it by being a Guinea Pig for my maps. Also he told Imoen to GTFO, which is a plus, because "HEYA... IT'S ME, IMOEN!!!11" gets old pretty quick.
I love communicating entirely in obscure references.
Haha I see that you've been playing portal 2.

Won't a fall that long give someone plenty of time to type in the teleport command if they don't panic? It may be a 1-hit kill, but it still isn't really 'fast'.Quote from nader4prez »I ran some tests and found that you need to fall at least 105 blocks to die while wearing diamond armor. So if you make a pitfall trap from a height of 105 to bedrock, it will kill the player without destroying their stuff.
Yeah, i suppose. You would need to type pretty quickly though because you only have about 4 seconds in the air before you hit the ground.

Haha! So true..

To make a pitfall first just dig a 1x1 shaft down to bedrock. Then place tnt one block below the surface of the shaft. Put gravel or sand on top of top of the tnt and finally a stone pressure plate on that.
Steve falls faster than tnt. So the tnt will blow up harmlessly in the air without destroying any items.

Quote from Lazy_Doom »48 coal. I know it's nothing impressive. 22 Diamond was a blessing though
Callin lies on that 22 diamond.
Unless of course you do the thing I do when I fall in lava... get pissed and boot up MCEdit and place like 50 diamond right at my spawn.
Haha I just did that yesterday when i got lost in some caves and died with like 4 diamonds.
The largest legit vein I've found was like 8 diamonds. Not incredibly impressive but that's the happiest I've ever been while playing MC.
Apr 30, 2011Try mining them from above. It takes more work but its a lot safer, especially if you're not playing on peaceful. Just build a tower to the roof of the nether and then tunnel through it towards glowstone. It takes a lot longer but at least your able to reach glowstone that's over lava.Posted in: Discussion
