Love? no. An unusual combination of lust, attachment, and respect for the artist who drew her? Hundreds of times.

posted a message on Japanese vs. American animation..
If I want comedy, it's american animation all the way. If I want anything else(serious sci-fi, drama, action, thriller), it's gotta be anime. I don't like anime comedy in general, because there are too many cliches and conventions thrown around instead of the animators genuinely trying to be original.

I really like Japanese voice acting. Over there, being a voice actor is a job that garners a lot of attention, so they always have good voice actors that really get into their roles.

posted a message on Would you sacrifice one of your limbs to save the life of someone you hate?
Nope. In fact, I wouldn't even go so far as to cross to the other side of the street to save a hated one. I don't buy into the whole 'sanctity of life' ******** that society keeps trying to shove down my throat. I won't go out of my way to kill someone, but if the opportunity presented itself without repercussions such as the law, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on someone I really hated.

If it was someone I deeply cared about that's a totally different story, and even if it was someone I felt neutral about I might go slightly out of my way to save them(still wouldn't lop off a limb for a stranger though).

    0. The best weapon we have in the house is an axe.

Pretty much gravity, yeah. I have my own pet theory that I'll advocate if it ever becomes fact that there was nano-thermite dust sprinkled all over new york and liquid steel in the basement, but until then I guess I'll settle for the official story.

    Quote from Master Porky

    What is reality?

Reality is a word we use to describe that which is independently verifiable by more than one of our subjective consciousnesses.

How can we consider something to be real? Is a law really definable since we cannot predict the future, and it has been shown that the quantum world can change with observation.

We can never know if there is some truly objective reality, but by communicating with others we can independently verify certain observations, thus giving us some idea of what an objective reality might be like, if such a thing exists.
Not sure what you mean by a law being verifiable. Like the laws of physics?
The issue with quantum objects changing with observation is a common misinterpretation of the double slit experiment. We did find that we have almost no equipment capable of observing quantum particles without effecting them, but that's simply because the equipment has to interact with the particles in order to observe them.

Why does any of this matter?

Define "matter". Matter to who? Surely not all of humanity, since every human's different.

Are ethics and morals really important?

It is convenient to think of society as a collective consciousness. Using this framework, ethics and morals are constructs of society used to defend itself and to operate as efficiently as possible. Naturally if you want the benefits of a society, it would make sense to aid it in not falling apart(as would happen if everyone completely ignored the old 'do not kill, do not steal, do not cheat, etc' rules). Certain aspects that have been lumped in with 'morality', such as not having sex before marriage, are pretty much useless IMHO, but they still have consequences which one must learn to accept if one is to be in harmony with society's objective reality.

If so, and if there is no objective, that there's no purpose in the end, why is that?

"purpose" again, is a subjective concept. It differs from person to person. Going back to my concept of "objectivity", there is no objective purpose to anything, since everybody believes differently.

Wrong. If you multiply 6 by 9, you clearly get 42.

yes, windows has several things that are flawed.

    - the registery: its a total mess, a far simpler and more efficient system that can be used and comes from UNIX are the .cfg files. under UNIX, all programs have a .cfg file(s) with them. that has the configuration in the system.

    - not recognizing file systems. (especially for servers!) only working with the NTFS or FAT format is a pain. especially when you try to hook a windows server into a non windows network.

-no centralized package managment, or even semi centralized like OSX does. windows has nothing like this. you still need to hunt for applications yourself. instead of having them in one central location, something that is considerable safer and easier to use.

a weird file system structure. really windows? why do you hide the home dir in a weird location. and why arent all programs saved in a central location. with all configuration files with them.

Please tell me how any of these things would have any impact whatsoever on someone who thought linux was "too difficult to use".
