    Your second recipe should be addShapelessRecipe. And instead of what you have in the Object Array (Object[]) it should be Block.dirt. So it should like this,

    ModLoader.addShapelessRecipe(new ItemStack(RubyOre, 1), new Object[] {Block.dirt});

    Ok. I did that. Modloader doesn't like my pickaxe recipe though. Says something is wrong with "Item.Ruby"...
    ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(RubyPick, 1), new Object [] {"###", " @ ", " @ ", Character.valueOf('#'), Item.Ruby, Character.valueOf('@'), Item.stick});

    Haha you goof! You were only supposed to change items.png!
    items.png is located in a folder called gui in minecraft.jar, however terrain.png isn't. It just existes in the jar file itself like other classes. So it would be like this,

    "/gui/items.png"
    "/terrain.png"

    Hopefully this fixes it!

    Managed to fix it. Turns out I had called a "/image.png" in another class and never noticed it.

    Ok. Now can someone help me figure out why it doesn't like my crafting recipe?

    This is my mod_class
    package net.minecraft.src;

    public class mod_Ruby {

    public static final Block RubyOre = new RubyOre(160, 0).setBlockName("RubyOre").setHardness(3F).setResistance(4F).setLightValue(1F);
    public static final Item Ruby = new Ruby(960).setItemName("Ruby");
    public static final Item RubyPick = new RubyPick(384, EnumRubyToolMaterial.Ruby).setItemName("RubyPickaxe");

        public void load()
        {
                ModLoader.registerBlock(RubyOre);
                ModLoader.addName(RubyOre, "RubyOre");
                Ruby.iconIndex = ModLoader.addOverride("/gui/items.png", "/Ruby.png");
                RubyPick.iconIndex = ModLoader.addOverride("/gui/items.png", "/RubyPickaxe.png");
                RubyOre.blockIndexInTexture = ModLoader.addOverride("/terrain.png", "/RubyOre.png");
                ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(RubyPick, 1), new Object [] {"###", " @ ", " @ ", Character.valueOf('#'), Item.Ruby, Character.valueOf('@'), Item.stick});
                ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(RubyOre, 1), new Object [] {"#", Character.valueOf('#'), Block.dirt});
        }

        public String getVersion()
         {
                         return "1.2.5";
        }

    }

    and this is my Ruby.java
    package net.minecraft.src;

    public class Ruby extends Item{
    public Ruby(int i)
        {
                super(i);
                maxStackSize = 64;
        }
    }

    Any ideas?

    You didn't say items.png was in gui.
    Should be, "/gui/items.png"

    Ok, I've made that change, but I'm still getting the same error.
    my mod_Class is as follows:
    package net.minecraft.src;

    public class mod_Ruby {

    public static final Block RubyOre = new RubyOre(160, 0).setBlockName("RubyOre").setHardness(3F).setResistance(4F).setLightValue(1F);
    public static final Item Ruby = new Ruby(960).setItemName("Ruby");
    public static final Item RubyPick = new RubyPick(384, EnumRubyToolMaterial.Ruby).setItemName("RubyPickaxe");

        public void load()
        {
                ModLoader.registerBlock(RubyOre);
                ModLoader.addName(RubyOre, "RubyOre");
                Ruby.iconIndex = ModLoader.addOverride("/gui/items.png", "/Ruby.png");
                RubyPick.iconIndex = ModLoader.addOverride("/gui/items.png", "/RubyPickaxe.png");
                RubyOre.blockIndexInTexture = ModLoader.addOverride("/gui/terrain.png", "/RubyOre.png");
                ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(RubyPick, 1), new Object [] {"###", " @ ", " @ ", '#', Ruby, '@', Item.stick});
                ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(RubyOre, 1), new Object [] {"#", Character.valueOf('#'), Block.dirt});
        }

        public String getVersion()
         {
                         return "1.2.5";
        }

    }

    Let me know if you need anything else.

    "Image not found: /image.png"

    Either you placed your image into the wrong folder or you named it wrong.
    Should be placed in:
    MCP > jars > bin > minecraft.jar > yourImage.png

    And your recipe should probably work like this:

    ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(Pick, 1), new Object [] {"###", " @ ", " @ ", '#', Ruby, '@', Item.stick});

    Fixed the addRecipe issue, it was in the wrong section of my mod_Class. Still getting the same issue with /image.png not getting found. I opened minecraft.jar with WinRar and put in my 3 image files.
    Here is my current code (Yes I realize that I shouldn't have capitalized the first letter of the image name, but that's what it's named right now.)
    Ruby.iconIndex = ModLoader.addOverride("/items.png", "/Ruby.png");
    RubyPick.iconIndex = ModLoader.addOverride("/items.png", "/RubyPickaxe.png");
    RubyOre.blockIndexInTexture = ModLoader.addOverride("/terrain.png", "/RubyOre.png");

    I'm trying to run a simple mod I wrote that adds one or two items and blocks, but am getting this error message when minecraft crashes. Any idea what's going on?

    On a side note, I can't get the addRecipe to work correctly either. I have it written like this, but Eclipse is telling me that there is an error in the code.

    ModLoader.addRecipe(new ItemStack(Pick, 1, new Object [] {"###", " @ ", " @ ", '#', Item.Ruby, '@', Item.stick}));

    This is the tutorial that I've slowly been working through as I learn to mod (I have only a little experience with Java). He has updated it for every new patch that has come out and it is currently updated for 1.2.5. Good luck with your modding!

    posted a message on Is This A Bad Idea?
    Quote from lukey5589

    So I waned to make a texture pack, although it's not exactly a texture pack. I was just gonna leave everything the same, just make the glass clear. Because one of my friends likes the look of the normal minecraft, but HATES how the glass look. And to be honest, i agree with him.

    So would it be a bad idea to do this? Would anyboy like it? And has there been people that have done this in the past?

    And sorry if i put this in the wrong section.

    I'm pretty sure it's been done before, but I'm too lazy to find it :tongue.gif:
    You could also just go and find a texture pack, like the Painterly pack (I use it). It's extremely customizable, so you can use whatever textures you want from the customizer.... only problem is that it takes around 30 min to go through the whole thing if you don't know exactly what you want.

    posted a message on Music Disc Shredder ?
    Quote from Sir_Adian

    Today I was playing on my regular Minecraft Server. I saw that someone has a made a Disc Shredder? They wouldn't let me see it, but he got around 5 music discs per run. I don't know how this works. I have Googled it, and I found nothing. Does anyone here know of a thread/video tut they could link me to, that is related to this?

    Thank you, for your time and help.

    -Adian

    Well, if you mean that he had a mob grinder, then it's really quite simple. To get a record, you have to have a skeleton's arrow kill a creeper. The easy way to do this is put creepers in a 1x1x2 hole that they can't get out of, with an opening on both sides that's 1 block high at head level. Put water in the bottom of the creeper hole so if they explode, it doesn't destroy blocks. Put the skeletons a few blocks away from the creepers in a similar hole, so the creepers can't reach the skeletons to explode, and then stand with the creepers between you and the skeletons. The creepers will die and drop records.

    Btw, I haven't checked this method in a long time (I don't really care about making this kind of grinder), and so I'm not sure how well it works nowadays.

    posted a message on [DEPRECATED] [1.0.0] Minetographer 0.7.7 - Detailed Map Renderer
    I personally love Minetographer as a mapping tool. I've been using it for quite a long time, but I can't seem to get the newest (0.7.7) update working. I downloaded and extracted it to my computer, but whenever I try to run it, nothing happens at all. If I use task manager, I see a new process of "javaw.exe", but other than that, nothing happens. Any idea what is happening and how I can fix it?

    Edit: Nevermind, I fixed it. I just had to go into my %appdata% folder and delete the Minetographer folder inside of it.

    posted a message on Zan's Minimap not working for me.

    :SSSS: Hello. I've watched several tutorials on how to install Zan's minimap. After following all the steps, (Including to delete META-INF) it still does not appear in my game. I'm pretty close to just losing it because no matter what mod I try to install, they don't appear, and I even installed the newest version of Modloader. :angry.gif:

    First off, can you provide a link to the mod?
    Second, make sure you're using the correct version.
    I don't know what else to say, if you give me the mod, I can test it out and see if I have the same problem.

    The 1.5_01 isn't working for me. I downloaded v2 and installed it using TFC's Mod manager.
    When I try to log in, it works, then gets stuck on the "Done Loading" part of the updating screen. Minecraft doesn't crash though... I just can't play it.

    Luckily, I did back it up before I installed the mod, so that's fine. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    What subject(s) do you want to study: Magic, mechanics, and redstone
    Have you any experience in the subject(s): I have no experience in magic and i don't really know what you mean by mechanics. However, i do have some experience with redstone, i just haven't built a computer or anything like that :biggrin.gif:
    Do you think you can become a teacher eventually, or are you so great you can become one now: I could possibly become a teacher, if i gain enough skills
    Why do you want to join the clan: I want to learn more about minecraft so that I can make more than just basic, cool looking structures. I also want to help others with their minecrafting (is that a verb?) if at all possible.
    Will you be active: I will try to be, but no guarantees, I am extremely busy with school.
    You've read the OP, right?: Of course.
