but lightwarrior, you seem really pissed dude. I don't see how it was a "***** and moan" thread as there were many valuable points made. sure it got a little heated at times but it has still remained civil.
things like this frustrate the community more and more at the loss of good threads. I'm really just wondering why a discussion about the rules should be locked with no official reason.

It's pretty understandable to me why LWK is frustrated. There is a courteous way to criticize, and I don't feel that that thread did that. True, it has made some good points we are looking into, but threads with that "tone" generally generate a lot of "bitching and moaning" and "ganging up" on administration that make it tough for us to do our jobs. I feel that the thread could have been a lot more productive for everyone had you handled it different.

I like XenForo, but it's soooo laggy on my iPod that I can't even use it. Most likely due to excessive JavaScript.
phpBB3 is FAST, and clean.
IPB is nice, but not my favorite, although I've only seen one theme/layout of it and I'd guess that you guys have a nice install being set up.
VB is also very fast/smooth.
EDIT: will our posts/ranks/accounts be brought over to IPB?

phpBB moderation is a pain. You shouldn't have to open 5 windows or tabs just to deal with a single abusive post. IPB should be better. Our settup of IPB is very similar to the one we have here, I don't think it will be a huge jump for normal users, but it will bring improvements.
I personally despise VB. But that's just me.
Yes, everything will be transfered from phpBB to IPB. The data is cross compatible and will be on the IPB board.

It doesn't really matter too much about the cost of the forum software, I'm pretty sure an IPB license is relatively cheap. myBB doesn't work well on a large scale, and from what I have heard, it would pretty much be a downgrade. Plus, Curse is already in the final stages of debugging/testing the IPB board, it would be a huge time setback to change forum software.
If it was up to me, I would chose XenForo, but I understand Curse doesn't want to deal with all the bugs that are probably in a forum software still in beta.

And those abusing it brings down the entire forum. I don't know about you, but I'd rather a forum that I can read, albeit with a little more trouble with search disabled.

Some weeks ago I reported a number of server advertisement topics in the looking for servers forum as that place is only for people looking for servers, not servers looking for normal players. I checked that the "Notify me" was set to yes, but I have yet to hear anything about it and I'm still seeing the same topics gathering new members.
Is there some way for us to contact mods to deal with this or should we all just break the rules so we get a fair "fight" for the new players on our servers?
Or, is there any way I can apply to become a mod for that forum, since it's in my best interests to keep the Servers section clean and a level playing field for us server owners.

I don't understand why everyone is freaking out. Notch isn't even going to be working on the port, and all it means is more money for Mojang. I see no problem with it, good for them.

No one. The IP banning system just banned them because they had similar IPs to the 3 I banned. It should be fixed now.
