That seems like the prudent choice to me.

Rather than just criticize the idea, why not explain

    1. Why you think his idea won't work.
    2. What your idea is.
    3. What what be the best for the creators and participators of these threads?

IMO, they could go any way, including their own sub-forum. It all depends on what the people thing. Perhaps we should make a poll and use those results to see what the community thinks and make a better decision based on that.

Holy crap, not only do you not understand a fairly common word but you go off on the guy about it?

I was not trying to "Go off" on him, I was just trying to see what he thought other than that "it was a prudent choice"

    I agree with Beltir. Saying

    Wrong section!

    Isn't helpful, but saying

You posted this in the wrong section. Next time post in [Insert Forum Here] because that's where [Insert Post Type Here] goes.

    Is actually contributive.

    Reported!

    Is not helpful either.

I've not received a warning yet. Probably because I am highly cautious as to what I say.

My problem is watching people getting away with insulting others, because they have problems with Notch/Minecraft/Mojang. That's the only correlation I can find, too. I say something bad against Minecraft, because I do have some issues with the game, and it gives everyone a free bash stick, with a target on my head. I don't really care who gets warned for what, as long as it is equal to all people. If one person gets warned for something, that should apply to everyone. If I can't insult a user, a user should not get away with insulting me. Simple as that.

If you see someone being insulting to other people or yourself, please report them and we will get to them as quickly as possible.

Probably because of a link in a spambots signature or something. I'd ignore it.

I typed the topic into the address bar and found no results, so it looks like it was a deleted spambot topic?

It's probably this. Those spammers >.>

Troll calling helps nothing. If you think a thread is trolling, report it and we'll get to it.

When someone troll calls, there are two ways it general goes.

    1. The person is not a troll.

I actually do a lot of moderating on my iPhone 4 (16GB) running 4.3.1 (JB'd). I use either Safari or Atomic Web Browser. An iPhone app would be cool, but whoever made it probably wouldn't add moderator controls just for me.

    :tongue.gif:

(I don't think that many other moderators would use it.)

    @above

The whole "banned for PMing a mod" is (to be blunt) complete nonsense. The people on that support ticked were banned for completley reasonable things, I don't know how they got that idea into their heads.

The best thing to do is ban spambot IP's. I kept repeatedly finding spam threads entitled "funny pictures !!!" that kept being created by different usernames. I asked Citricsquid to ban the IP and the threads stopped.

Not a good idea, as most of the posters IPs are either fake or belongs to a "zombie", just as in DDoSing, so the banned IP will almost always be innocent.

Exactly. I can't tell you how much trouble banning IPs causes. People with similar IPs get banned on accident sometimes, leading to lots of confused and often angry people. We just had a case where banning 2 IPs of a ban evader (who also happened to be tied to a hacking site) got 8+ people banned unintentionally. I ended up having to unban the IPs. Also people often have dynamic IPs/proxies, which just makes them useless. That's why we don't like banning IPs.

Ok... I don't see the point of you bringing that old information up then. It's like using data from the 1970 Census in a paper about the way the United States is today.

Well if the active number of users was around 10k when we were 270k, then it won't be much higher when we're 300k :tongue.gif:

Oh silly me, I was reading that wrong. Disregard what I said.

That is not true at all, the average account has ~12 posts. Do the math.

    You've only actually got about 5 - 10,000 users.

That is just a conjecture, I don't have exact numbers but that number is A LOT higher.

ACTUALLY, and I did this one day because I was extremely bored, back when this board had 270k members, 250k of them had under ten posts. Of that 250k, 230k had 4 posts or less and most hadnt been around in months.

It doesn't matter, but I'm just saying, I actually DID the research.
