Sorry about the bad image quality.

I did some experimenting with pistons and observers, and discovered this design.

As usual, please give credit if you use this design

This design was intended to work without the use of rails or special conductivity features in the game. This design was also intended to maximize the number of bits that can be represented in a given area, not volume. Thank you very much for showing me your design though, I would never have thought of using rails instead of red stone.

Actually, make sure that the large complicated are lined up properly, and the section with green on it is actually supposed to follow the same pattern as the rest of the structure. If you manage to make it wide enough to need repeaters on the top, make sure to place a downward facing observer underneath it.

I made this, and I would call it, "Offset Tiled Observer Memory", or OTOM for short. This type of read only memory, which is about 8 blocks per bit, is about 2x more compact than the most common read only memory, which uses about 16 blocks per bit. Tell me what you guys think about this. I hope that the pictures and diagrams will make it easy for you guys to make your own ones. Also, this type of memory is most efficient at large sizes(1 kilobyte or more).

If you decide to use this in a computer or demonstration, PLEASE remember to give me credit.
