Ok, I see the color change now that you point it out. I'd kind of like it to be a different color though since the two are similar enough. Maybe a future option to change the highlight colors?
Is the 'highlight air' feature bugged or disabled or something in 1.7.10? No matter what I set it to (in the options GUI, haven't tried directly editing the config file), those blocks are being highlighted in-game.
Also is there a way to get to the options without exiting out of the world back to the title screen?
I think there's an incompatibility with ML and OS X 10.9. I've gone back through all the versions of ML's Mac releases to 0.9.9 and they all throw up the same error message.
Either 10.9 is really sensitive to the point of being as bad as Windows Vista was with it's security prompts, or there's some programming issue at play here.
Hi,
I have tried this solution, and yet I received the error whereby WorldEdit.jar not found in "%AppData%/.minecraft/bin". I used the snapshot version 5.5.8 & also the version in the SPC. Both jar version doesnt work. I have no clue what to do now. The screenshot is as below in the spoiler.
Any help would be great!
Thanks!
This might be a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyways. Did you alter the Game Directory (or as Magic Launcher calls it, the 'Base Directory') in your Minecraft profile? Because changing that would affect where the 'bin' directory is located, and thus where SPC would be trying to locate the jar.
At LoRaM100's request, I am reposting my visual guide to installing Forge, Optifine, and Magic Launcher here, with some additional steps for installing SPC and World Edit following the main guide.
Installing Forge and OptiFine on Magic Launcher, a Visual Guide
Magic Launcher works with Forge if you follow the following steps to set it up. If you skip a step, or try to outsmart the process, then don't ask me for help. I have done this on 4 computers (two desktops running Windows 7, one laptop running Windows Vista, and one Mac Mini running OS X 10.7.5), and all of them work without a single problem or hiccup. Any claims by other mod authors that Magic Launcher is at fault are incorrect, and likely the result of user error in setting up Forge with Magic Launcher, or a corrupted/outdated mod. I suspect most people run into problems and blame Magic Launcher for not working because they do not perform steps 7-12 of this guide.
We are going to start off with a fresh clean install of Minecraft. This guide does work with a previous install of Minecraft, but just to be safe we're going clean to rule out any strange configurations or settings that might be tripping us up. A lot of people say to just delete the .minecraft folder, but you really don't want to do that and lose all your saved games and screenshots. Just rename it to something like '.minecraft.old' so you preserve your old setup in case you need it for some reason. Once you've done that, any Minecraft launcher you try to run will think you don't have the game installed, which is exactly what we want for this.

Ever tried to give a folder a name that starts with a period symbol? Windows will generally complain that you haven't really given the folder a name, because it thinks you're attempting to give the folder an extension instead. So, what's the trick? Give it a period at the end of the folder name as well! Yes, naming a folder '.minecraft.' will result in a folder named '.minecraft' as Windows will just snip that trailing period off once you hit enter. Take that, archaic DOS based naming conventions! (credit: source)
1. Go to Minecraft.net, download the latest launcher (currently 1.2.1, updated 1 Jul 2013).
2. Log in. You may have to sit and wait a bit depending on your download speed. Your game/computer has not frozen or locked up, so just be patient while that status bar runs.
3. Click play. More stuff will download.
4. When plain normal vanilla Minecraft starts, click on Quit Game.
5. Download the installer for the RECOMMENDED version of Forge. Not the Latest version, the RECOMMENDED version. Currently 9.10.0.804.
6. Run the installer and install the client. Click ok on the successful install notice.
7. Open the Mojang Minecraft launcher, NOT Magic Launcher. I haven't told you to download Magic Launcher yet.
8. Select the newly created 'Forge' profile. It may prompt you to log in again. Do so.
9. Hit that huge 'Play' button at the bottom of the window.
10. Things will download. Wait for them.
11. Minecraft will load with Forge stuff on the title screen.
12. Quit game.
13. Download and open Magic Launcher.
14. Click 'Setup.'
15. Click 'New' and give your new Magic Launcher profile a name. I named mine 'Forge 804' just for clarity on what version of Forge is being used.
16. Set your environment to 1.6.2-Forge9.10.0.804.
17. Click the 'Manage' button next to the lower mod window. Put your mod zips and jars in that folder.
17b. If a mod has a red status of 'internal mod,' put it somewhere else, and then 'Add' it into the upper mod window. This is how you install OptiFine and SPC. I do not know why TooManyItems reports 'no mods found.' It works fine in game, and I ignore the message.
18. Click on the 'Advanced' tab. Type '-Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true' into the Parameters field. Click 'ok.'
19. Now you're on the Magic Launcher main window. Select your new Forge profile in the configuration box and log in.
19b. If for some reason Magic Launcher is not logging in or wants you to play offline, look to see if the 6 little redstone lamps under the Password box are lit up. If they are all dark, check your firewall settings to see if either Magic Launcher or Java is being blocked from connecting to the Internet.
20. Play Minecraft!
SPC/World Edit Instructions
1. So you've done all that, and the game is working now. Great, right? No? Oh, I see, you've got a WorldEdit error message that looks like this.
2. Open up your .minecraft folder. If you've done a clean install, you'll notice that the bin folder is not there. Minecraft 1.6.2 no longer has one of those. What do we do now? We create the folder.
You can either right click within the .minecraft folder window and create a new folder from the context menu that appears next to your cursor, or you can click the 'New Folder' button up above.
This is a Windows 7 screenshot, so the process may be different for whatever OS you are using, but the right click menu should be there for pretty much everybody. If for some strange reason your right click menu doesn't have the New Folder option, you can usually find it in the File menu instead. Name that new folder 'bin' and stick that WorldEdit.jar in there.
You have now installed WorldEdit into Minecraft 1.6.2. Do your happy dance.
Any further errors are the result of buggy or outdated mods and/or computer problems. As stated above, I have performed the above steps on 4 different computers, in some cases twice just to verify that the process works, and all of them run Minecraft, Forge, Optifine, and other mods without any problems or errors. Make sure your mods are up to date and are compatible with the current RECOMMENDED build of Forge. Do not update Forge until there is a newer recommended build available, and then be aware that some mods may break until they are rebuilt against the newer Forge build.
When in doubt, go download your mods again, just to be certain that you didn't have a corrupted download the first time around. If all else fails, try updating your Java installation. I've seen at least one poster here say that they fixed their problems after downloading and installing Java again. The current Java version is 7 Update 25.
If you want to post a log, don't just click 'View Log' and paste the 8 lines useless lines that show up in there at the start and tell us nothing. Click on 'View Log' first, and then click on 'Test.' The log window will fill with oodles of useful information for you to share with the forums and hopefully somebody can then find a clue to whatever is plaguing your gaming experience.
I hope this visual guide to installing Forge and Optifine using Magic Launcher helps somebody out there.
Your tirelessly long and detailed instructions did not work. I've tried several forge installs on 2 operating systems. windows 7 and windows 8. I performed a format and fresh clean install of both operating system. I've been building systems since the days of DOS, before windows 3.1 was on the market. I know my way around a PC.
I never had a single issue before ML 1.1.6. after 1.1.6 was released it has been broken where it use to work flawlessly. what happened to old days of just adding and arranging mods than clicking login to play Now it takes an endless amount of tweaking for it to error out consistently for days on end.
TL;DR ML use to be easy to use. now it takes endless amounts of tweaking. pages of complaints and errors's about this specific version.
Magic Launcher is broken
For you. They did not work, for you. Magic Launcher is broken, for you. This is an important distinction. It works for me. It works for other people. Magic Launcher is not broken. There is plenty of evidence to the contrary. I too have been working with computers since the days of DOS. I do not claim to be an expert, or some kind of wonder computer genius, but I can tell you, with absolute confidence and certainty that those steps work. Every one of those screenshots I made was done in the process of going through those steps, and the end product was a working Minecraft/Forge/Optifine game, running under Magic Launcher. I too had a week of hell when 1.6 came out and all the mod authors and Forge and Magic Launcher had to scramble to update and accommodate the changes to Minecraft. In my opinion, and in the opinion of other posters here who are singing the praises of this launcher, however few there may be, or who attempt to help others with their installation, it works great once things are setup correctly and everything is up todate. I am at a loss to explain why my instructions did not work, for you, since I have performed them about 6 or 7 times, and have always wound up with a positive result in the end.

it cant work, because how the sound files are stored and loaded was different in the older versions. the .mine. folder is configured differently. there will always be SOME drawback to playing retro.
Never say can't. If you look in the development console of the launcher you'll see that the game recognizes that it is loading an older version of the game and even applies something called a net.minecraft.launchwrapper.VanillaTweaker to presumably assist in running that older code. Now I am not a programmer, but I do understand quite a bit, and it might be somehow plausible for the modern Minecraft client to be programmed to load sounds from where the old game expects them to be, or at the very least redirect the old game to pull the sounds from a new location, possibly giving us modern game sounds in an old game environment. You'll notice that when you run an alpha, it runs with the new workbench icon instead of the good old grass block icon, so the modern game engine is still involved here, and since modifying the modern engine doesn't require going into those old jars and "fixing a bug" as Dinnerbone has said will not happen (and if this is a bug it does not lie within those old jars, but within the current launcher), it is plausible, however unlikely, that this might get corrected at some point. It's really all a matter of getting around to it and seeing what might need to be done from a programming point of view.
Ok so I am trying to add in a few mods (specifically the ones paulsoaresjr uses in his legend of hoodie series) however when I put em all in and test or even just go to play, minecraft loads fine, but no mods are loaded.
Is anyone NOT having problems with 1.6.2 and OptiFine? I know people post bugs here, but usually there's a relatively even distribution of "thanks!" posts. Since 1.6 it's all negative, and I'm holding off upgrading from 1.5 because of it. If 1.6 is this bad, and OptiFine is not compatible, then I will sit it out until 1.7.
So, seriously... anyone find that it worked just fine??
Works just fine for me. Nine out of 10 times the reviews you'll find online are negative, because when people are happy with something they generally don't feel a need to give feedback, but give them trouble and they will complain to no end.

Sorting it again, gives me this:
Repeated pressing of the sorting key just switches between those two item arrangements, neither of which match my custom rules.

Optifine and Magic Launcher are made by the same guy. They're compatible. I use them together, as do others without a problem.
Your system doesn't have enough RAM free to allocate 2048MB to Minecraft. Try a smaller value, like 1024.

The log window will fill with oodles of useful information for you to share with the forums and hopefully somebody can then find a clue to whatever is plaguing your gaming experience.
I hope this visual guide to installing Forge and Optifine using Magic Launcher helps somebody out there.

Your posted log tells us nothing about the problem you are having. Absolutely flat out nothing.

Bingo.
That happened, most likely.

Works just fine for me. Nine out of 10 times the reviews you'll find online are negative, because when people are happy with something they generally don't feel a need to give feedback, but give them trouble and they will complain to no end.
