Sorry for the late reply. I took a hiatus from Minecraft for a while, thought he Pickle Pack Magical 3 brought me back recently. Since John Smith Modded doesn't seem to be getting any updates for 1.10 I may pick this pack back up if I find a mod pack that resonates with me for that version. At the moment I'm having more fun with 1.7.10 mod packs.

Wuss mode then? I can't imagine it not being on the TC4 wiki as well as lacking on the TC3 wiki if it was possible to heat the crucible with a torch on default settings...

Nope, default config, it's just slower to come to a boil. Pretty sure the book entry on the crucible actually says all of this.

I'm sure I remember it being possible in TC4, although I didn't use it much.

Actually this was possible in TC3+ (Torch to heat Crucible) and worked in 5.1.6.

How do I use the alternate textures??

If you mean Sunny, Spooky, and Christmas variants, they're setup as resource packs for 1.8 so you just have to place them in the same folder as default and add the one you want active above active above the standard Jolicraft pack in the Resource Pack list. Hope that makes sense.

-> Finding a jungle biome for cocoa (harvest seal)

    -> Finding slimes (jar label)

-> Repair enchant (found 2 times a repair, have 3 chests full of crap low level enchant books)

    are a pain!

I ended using TiCAlpha for Slimes and used Botanias transmute manapool for cocoa... Darn you jeb for that silly biome code change in 1.7! Dont 'fix' what is not broken! Any advice how to find a jungle Biome? Search edges of desert? mesas?

I had to travel 7000 blocks out from spawn to find jungle. I had the best luck looking around Plains and Savannas and staying away from colder biomes. Slimes were much easier (2000 blocks to a swamp).

I did cheat a little and used the teleport ability from Journey Map to get back home afterwords.

Jolicraft Vanilla Fixes Updated & Apple Core Support Added

There were some status and GUI icons that were missing or still default that I've updated/added.

I've also added support for Apple Core (Displays food saturation and player saturation levels, not just hunger).

Both releases can be found here.

Added support for AppleCore (displays food saturation levels) and updated the Fix patch to include some missing or default GUI elements that I overlooked.

I'm actually going back to my TC5 patch next as I've noticed some of the blocks/entities standout against Jolicraft blocks too much. Specifically Infusion pedestals.

Also, at this moment I have Harness, Totem, Silverwood staff, etc, but can't even put labels on jars, because I have yet to see a living slime. For similar reason, I don't have digging focus. Maybe requiring rare things for making what should be trivial is not a very good idea?

LOL, I'm in the same situation (No slimeballs). This is actually one of the things I REALLY like about Botania and ProjectE, the ability to use our magic systems to either track down or convert less rare materials into more rare.

Also, love how stuffed your crazy magic room is!

@Azanor LMAO! I've no idea if this was in previous version of Thaumcraft, but I just experienced "Thaumaria" for the first time while running around my base. Needless to say I was... surprised by the results. I still keep chuckling every time I think about the mad dash for dirt afterwards.

I need some help since enchanting drives me crazy

I want 'repair 2' on my boots of the traveler. What is the best way to get it?

enchant books? leather boots until I see 'repair2' pop up? I dont get this random enchant table stuff...

I miss the days when we had infusion enchanting... Those were simpler days #livinginthepast :)

Any hints frorm the 1.8.9 enchanting wizards around here are highly welcome!

Since Enchanting in 1.8.9 is significantly cheaper, the best route is enchanting books. You can hover over the enchant list and see if Repair shows. If it doesn't I will choose the cheapest enchantment to cycle the list and try again. Note that although the top level enchants won't show up until level 30, it doesn't take 30 levels to get it.

I also prefer to go for lower levels of a specific enchant (Fortune 1 for instance) and 2 books with that level in the anvil to get the next level.

You'll end up with a TON of lvl 1 books that you can then combine to level 2, etc, to get all the enchants you really want over time as well. Make sure you setup an XP farm (spawners OP) before going into this endeavor though.

So has anyone found a reasonable way to collect Auram in TC5 yet? I do not seem to be able to smash nodes, so that is not an option anymore.

As others have pointed out, early game, Cinderpearls are a very good way of getting Aurum. Ideally you want to create or find a tainted biome and farm Tendrils, slime, etc, to get Aurum in larger quantities. Be sure to setup an Enderchest nearby to transfer them back to your Smeltery though.

Also, it seems Flux is converted into the physical world in Taint biomes so you'll want to keep refreshing the flux with various methods to keep getting stuff to spawn for farming.

Is there a 1.8.9 version of botania floating around somewhere?<snip>

There indeed is. /r/botania has a thread on the port or you can go to the Github and grab the release there. Vazkii has been putting off porting Botania so a community member is doing it with her blessing.

Added Just Enough Items, JEI Addons, and Just Enough Resources support and updated the OP with links, etc. There are some blending problems, but there's nothing that can be done about that due to the way the graphical elements are extracted from Vanilla GUIs. I didn't find it too distracting though.

Also, I did a major reformat of the top post. Hopefully it's easier to find stuff this way.
