There's another "third party" forks floating on curse, but i dont know in what extent the cc api differs from the one maintained by dan (and SquidDev). So sticking to original cc is good enough.
I can't believe Web Displays is back. This is something I've been waiting years for. I first found out about your mod from The Yogscast. Their spotlight on it was from 2012... I feel old now. Anyway, you need some help with Linux support, eh? Well, I'm your guy for the job, I think. I actually tried my hand at getting JCEF working back at the last release, but the provided directions were not exactly helpful. Just tell me exactly what I need to do, and I'll do it. Linux deserves some love!
Yup, I agree, Linux deserves some love. The truth is, JCEF has plenty of bugs on Linux and I don't know myself the exact instructions on how to fix them. But I'm working on it.

Nah I won't port this version to MC 1.7.10 sorry. The Minecraft internal code is completely different and back-porting would require too many changes. Also, maintaining a mod for different Minecraft versions is quite hard.
Will there be any future updates that increase the viewing distance of the display? I like to build stadiums and arenas and this mod is great for integrating scoreboards, however, the displays disappear when I get too far away. Nevertheless, this is still a great mod!
Also, will we be able to control multiple screens at the same time from a different location? I think it would be great to be able to control a 4 screen jumbotron from a control room and have all the screens in sync playing a scoreboard animation.
I know that these usage examples might not be the most mainstream, but they could inspire some cool/creative ideas.

Well, there's a config option to change the screen view distance. Don't push it too far, you may experience some bugs. I'll try to fix this in the next WebDisplays version. Controlling multiple screens from a different location is also a good idea. I'll see what I can do. Thanks.

You can paint using the SketchPad website, with the Laser Sensor upgrade and the Laser Pointer item. Trapping your friends requires some Javascript knowledge I'm afraid. I think I'll make tutorials for that. Anyway, you can find help on the WebDisplays wiki, and by hovering an item in-game and pressing F1.
hey so when i got the mod and when i try to load minecraft it crashes and says this
"The game crashed whilst there was a severe problem during mod loading that has caused the game to fail
Error: net.minecraftforge.fml.common.LoaderExceptionModCrash: Caught exception from WebDisplays (webdisplays)"
I found a glitch where sometimes, while on youtube, I would be on another video and the other video I was watching before it would still be playing, even when I exit the world. Also that some things dont work multiplayer, like if I'm on youtube, when a video is paused, it would be playing for other people, but if it was playing, it would be paused for other people.
Unfortunately that's one of the limitations of WebDisplays :S. There's no way I can perfectly synchronize two web browsers (the only way would be to put the web browsers server-side and make it stream every screens, which would use all the bandwidth). The only thing I can advice is to use embedded YouTube with auto-play enabled as much as possible, by using shift+the YT button. More info here:
Oh I see, this is completely understandable from what your saying; although, I would absolutely do it myself, but I don't know programming at all, so I cannot :(. But I have some hope that someone with a Macintosh will uh, be generous?

Oh yeah, the reason why I asked about this being on other systems is because a friend of mine uses a Macintosh while I use a Windows. (Which is exactly as painful as you'd imagine when it comes to doing ANYTHING)😩😫😖

I don't know. The problem is that I don't own a Mac, so I can't build JCEF (which is used by WebDisplays) for Mac. I've tried a Virtual Machine, but it's super slow and even if I could use it to build JCEF I couldn't test it. So yeah... it's written on the MCEF GitHub page, any help from a Mac developper is welcome
Linux is also a pain in the ass since unlike Windows some files have to be copied inside the folder where Java is installed, and that requires administrator rights...
Seems the new launcher was messing with MCEF. I've fixed that too. Also, sorry to ask, but if you could eventually upvote the new thread I'd be very happy, cuz I posted it too early and now it's hidden down down down down in the forum list :S

Well, when you place a few of these blocks in a surface ("wall") shape, and you right-click it, a real web browser shows up. You can go on YouTube, watch some videos or listen to your favourites musics, watch the stream of your favourite streamer, shows the news in your server's lobby and everything in-game.

To begin playing around with the mod, the first block you'd want to craft is the screen block:
Place it in a "wall" shape, and right-click it with an empty hand to turn it on. Sneak and right click (again, with an empty hand) to change the URL.
At any time, hover a WebDisplays item and hit "F1" to get some help about the item!
