posted a message on Writing Single Pages
My idea is for a mod that allows you to write on paper - just a single piece, no need for it to be a book. It would be editable while also having a customizable title, and have 1 page max (or 2, for the "other side"). What do you guys think? I think the best use of this would be on SMP, with a sort of post box or something. Of course, you can now do that with books, but they also require leather, which can be a pain to get.

I have a problem with a processing system using redpower only. Basically, I want to be able to apply a redstone pulse to change the color tag of an item - like a color for no redstone signal, another for a redstone signal. Is there a way to do this with redpower right now? If not, any chance of something like it being added?

How I had it is, you use a command to set the center block and add options telling it if you wanted it to mirror on the x, y, or z (or a combo) axis. Then youd place a block and it would count how many from the center block it was in one direction, and then add another one that far from the other side of the block. You could make really easy spheres, domes/circles and all that, and tweak it until it looked right without tearing it all down to see how another way would look.

In my builds, especially the bigger ones, one of the most difficult things is to get everything symmetrical (that needs to be). A while ago I made a Bukkit plugin for personal use (on a private server) that would create blocks around specified axis in-game, and I think there should be a mod that does that (I have way too much other stuff to try and do it myself). I don't think it would be too hard, it wasnt very complicated when I did it. Of course, it would probably be used for creative mode since it makes blocks out of nowhere, but I think it would really help the more complicated decoration on bigger builds. I'd be happy to provide the plugin code I made if needed as well.

posted a message on [1.7.3] Speed block UPDATED DAILY
If it doesn't use modloader... means it edits the Block class file, which means it is not compatible with modloader or any modloader mods, if I understand it correctly (someone correct me if I'm wrong, please). It seems like this mod would be very easy to convert to use modloader. 9/10 mods seem to use ModLoader, so most people have it installed already and it would make it incompatible with those mods.

Um... what? You're using modloader so you're not editing anything that deals with brightness... Which means you're stuck to 0-1 for brightness. You set a 2 in there instead, it gives you something (exactly) like this:

    java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 30
    at net.minecraft.src.ChunkCache.getBrightness(ChunkCache.java:75)
    at net.minecraft.src.Block.getBlockBrightness(Block.java:152)
    at net.minecraft.src.RenderBlocks.renderStandardBlockWithAmbientOcclusion(RenderBlocks.java:1943)
    at net.minecraft.src.RenderBlocks.renderStandardBlock(RenderBlocks.java:1922)
    at net.minecraft.src.RenderBlocks.renderBlockByRenderType(RenderBlocks.java:125)
    at net.minecraft.src.WorldRenderer.updateRenderer(WorldRenderer.java:148)
    at net.minecraft.src.RenderGlobal.updateRenderers(RenderGlobal.java:1073)
    at net.minecraft.src.EntityRenderer.renderWorld(EntityRenderer.java:553)
    at net.minecraft.src.EntityRenderer.updateCameraAndRender(EntityRenderer.java:430)
    at net.minecraft.src.EntityRendererProxy.updateCameraAndRender(EntityRendererProxy.java:23)
    at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.run(Minecraft.java:514)
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

Unless somehow you got around that. I really do want you to be telling the truth, because if you found a way to bypass that its freaking awesome, but I just don't see how. Unless you're being sarcastic with saying you're completely serious.... its very late and my internet sarcasm detector is pretty crappy even when I'm energetic.

If *THIS* is the FIRST released version of this mod... holy ****! The possibilities for this are freaking endless and, I think, will change much of MC for the better. I think when (if? I guess) chests and torches and that can work while its in flight (now that I think about it, as long as chests and furnaces hold their items in flight itd be fine) then this will be the number 1 mod in all of MCland. I'm just in awe!!!

Also, suggestion (though I'm guessing its been suggested before) - different "modes" of travel would be nice. Sort of like what movecraft has - ship, submarine, airplane, airship, etc.

I have finished my "blinds"/thin glass mod, and have most recently completed a spikes mod - hurts 1.5 hearts while youre in it (however fast it checks, I forget). The blinds texture and the spikes texture are absolutely HORRIBLE so if someone skilled wants to spend a couple minutes to replace any of the three textures (redblock, blinds, and spikes) that would be awesome. I don't have the time to compile and upload tonight, but I'll get to it as soon as I can tomorrow and turn this into more of a "mjmrs mods" page rather than just for RedBlock.

I'm not really a fan of the glowstone texture :/ And I'm not really sure about making this generate in the nether. I don't really see the need for it, and I don't know how to do it and am not motivated to find out how :smile.gif:

I also want to say that I really am just making this block (and potentially the window/blinds block) for my own use. I thought people would like to also use them so I put them here - Convince me there is a good and reasonably easy to implement feature to be put in and I'll likely do it :smile.gif:

You mean its not compatible because of block IDs? Mine use 123 and 124 (sort of random, theyre some of the few IDs that are open on my heavily modded game). I would imagine those have properties files that can change them. I'm planning on putting a properties file in to change block IDs some time soon, not really sure how to do it right now. But when I figure it out, I'll add one in. Until then, try to clear up blockIDs 123 and 124.

https://twitter.com/#!/jeb_/status/93618013537972224 Well sonofa... Pretty much what I was doing with the basic part of my window mod. Though I don't think I could get corners because that would be a new block render or something.

I'll try to get in some pictures soon :smile.gif:

I've talked to people about this idea before and it seems like some are confused about the point of this... it has *no* place in the functions of circuits. That is definitely NOT its (intended by me) use. Its a light source. Think of it as toggle-able lightstone. So yes, it is a tweaked redstone torch that doesn't output power. But its also double the brightness of a redstone torch, so theres its use.

Hi guys, this is my first mod for Minecraft SSP. I have seen mods similar to this, but they didn't do what I thought they should so I made my own version :smile.gif: It is a simple redstone block made of nine redstone dust items - but is redstone-activated as well. When it is not being powered, it is on - when it is being powered, it is off. Right now it does *not* transmit power to other blocks because I am/will be using this as more of a display block than a circuit piece.

The source is pretty messy but its there if anyone wants to take a look and maybe offer suggestions (beyond cleaning up). Also, I think my texture for it is horrible, but I'm really bad at making them so if anyone thinks they can make a better one, I'm definitely open to it.

P.S. I have another mod I've made for myself and want to see if anyone would be interested. It's basically just thinner glass, so you don't have meter-thick glass all over the place. If you'd be interested in that, please say so and also whether you think it should be centered in the middle or more like door placement (to one side based on where you're pointing). I'm also thinking of making it so that on right click, it gets a "blinds" type texture and doesn't let light through. What do you think?

posted a message on [1.7.3] Chandeliers Mod [V1.3.1 MORE CHANDELIERS] [ModLoader]
Great mod! I have a suggestion, though - shouldn't be too hard to implement, either. Make a hanging chain block - make a longer chain texture and basically duplicate the chandelier block part, without the flames. With this, you can make the chandeliers hang down more if needed, while still blending in - and you can use the chains to hang other things as well like maybe glowstone or something. Also, just a minor "efficiency" type thing - in the source for BlockChandelier in canPlaceBlockAt, there seems to be a lot of repeated code, but it doesn't really affect anything except for some very minor delays I guess.
