Minecraft went through a lot of changes over its history. There are so many ways to play Minecraft nowadays... So, if Mojang were Santa, I'd like to switch between different versions of Minecraft in real-time and see how it has been changing over time :)

That's entirely possible if you're on Java but as I say in the OP I wish it were possible on Bedrock.

I don't know if it's possible on other Console editions, and I've never tried this with my own Xbox 360, but apparently you can go to settings and delete the update data for Minecraft Xbox 360 edition which essentially takes you back to whatever version you first played with.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure there is a stronghold somewhere, as I can hear the silverfish.

    Hello,

I had a wonderful Christmas in many ways but Minecraft was not one of them.

I have a Christmas tradition that I want to kill the enderdragon in the oldest world I still have access to, my first tutorial world on the Xbox 360, but I play on Christmas Day and that only. Yesterday was no exception, it was the fourth year on this tradition and now I had a look at my world list, I have not played Minecraft on Xbox 360 since last year's Christmas tradition, I have become much more used to Java and Bedrock, so it took a little adjusting but I knew what I was doing.

The first Christmas was really me just settling down and getting used to the game.

The second Christmas was me playing around with redstone and things for a little, then finding the iron blocks underneath the tower and getting loads of that stuff.

The third Christmas I cracked out my looting II sword and got 11 blaze rods to kill the dragon, also killed a few endermen and got a few ender pearls. But I died to a ghast and lost my Respiration III helmet.

Then this Christmas, it started off well with me getting a few ender pearls, but then last year happened basically again. I was desperate to get back to my portal, which was unprotected as I had hurried earlier. There was fire everywhere, more and more ghast fireballs, I was running out of food to heal myself, and my cousins calling me to wish me Merry Christmas did not help either. In the end my luck ran out and I was killed again. I ran back immediately and got all the stuff I could pick up and thankfully most of it, including my Diamond Sword, ender pearls, Power V Bow and all, was alright, but my Looting III sword was no-where to be found. The ghast which had tormented me flew in close and I somehow managed to kill it despite numerous failed attempts before my death. I escaped alive with all my treasured possessions but the looting sword.

I had found the chest underwater with unbreaking II and put that on the sword and now it's gone forever.

I spent nearly an hour and a half looking for endermen but ended up with only seven ender pearls.

I used these to try to find the portal and lost one on the way. I found the stronghold all right and miraculously even found an enderman who restored the lost ender eye, bringing my total back up to seven. I scanned every turn I could find but no portal. I could hear silverfish and lava but they were nowhere to be found. Eventually I resorted to my diamond pickaxe, and nearly wore the whole tool out just looking for the portal room to no avail whatsoever. That's where I left it: five eyes to go, nearly broken diamond pickaxe, no sign of the portal room, deep underground. At least if my looting sword had survived there might be a realistic chance I could get it done by the end of next year. I see people speedrun Minecraft in less than half an hour, that may be Java edition 1.7.2 but still, it should be possible to do it faster than this, but I'm not a speedrunner, I'm a more casual player, but my Minecraft Christmas tradition is not looking good for another few years....

Oh well, it's just a game.

Well Christmas came and afaik none of these things were even announced as of today, with the possible exception of 1. which I found out from someone else here, but I tested with my X360 controller and nothing happened. Haven't tried with my new PS4 controller yet.

    Lol rip

Place blocks in front of you - I see no reason why this should not be ported to Java, at least not if it was made an option that could be disabled on servers.

Cave Update - Just because this is a popular idea does not mean I am unentitled to express my wishes for it. I have nothing in particular in mind that I would like to see but I would want mining underground to become generally more interesting and useful.

Height Slider - I admit I do not expect to see it anytime soon but it is entirely possible, as far as I know, and I would like one.

I just tried with my Xbox 360 controller in Java 1.15.1 and it didn't respond at all.

Perhaps then the only way to fix this might be to wait until the devs fix it.

Please clarify what you mean by "the very first functions the controller has to the game, when the controller is plugged in, before messing with any 3rd party programs."

What version/edition of Minecraft are you using?

I have an Xbox 360 controller, soon to get a Playstation 4 Controller.

When I play Bedrock, it's as simple as plug-in and play.

I don't need to speak for Xbox 360 edition.

    When I play Java I use Joy2key.

Sure, Joy2Key isn't perfect and it can get annoying when sorting my inventory for instance, as I can't use the D-pad to scroll square-by-square, I can't use the face buttons to do things rather than the triggers, and I made shift togglable so quick-moving things is more difficult. But on the whole, it's a satisfactory experience.

Hello, I'm trying to make a video which demonstrates me playing Minecraft with shaders on. I can play using Mr Meepz Shaders with about 10fps, which although not good by any means is just about playable. I tried FreeCam which was okay but it gave me an error ("bad allocation" and then forcefully terminated the recording. I noticed that the fps of the recording was getting worse towards the end, even though the game itself was still 10fps) after a short while and when I played back the footage it was even more laggy than the game itself. What do you recommend I use to record the footage?

    My specs:

    Operating System:
    Windows 10 x86

    Processor/CPU:
    Intel Core i5-820U 1.80 GHz

    Video Card/GPU:
    Intel UHD Graphics 620

    Memory/RAM:
    Intel 8.00 GB

I can accept a watermark but would prefer footage without.

I need it to capture the game well with the same quality as that I am playing, but without being too much for my PC to handle. Obviously the shaders themselves are plenty of strain for my system and if it gets any worse I won't be able to play the game. I'd prefer not to pay, but if I really have to I can pay a little.

I also want to be able to capture the audio coming out of the PC, with the additional option of turning on my microphone.

    Thanks for the help,

    MiracleDinner

It would definitely not be realistic to actually get a new dimension before the end of the festive season, but at least to have one announced would be a great Xmas gift.

The same is probably true of some of the other things on my list such as the Super Duper Graphics.

I would love it if mojang would take off the auto save settings on the xbox one edition. Or bedrock. The 360 has this feature but not the xbox one. I've spoken to people before and they said that they wanted the auto save feature taken off too. :)

    I get you a little.

I almost always play Java or Bedrock nowadays, but my brother plays Xbox 360, and I have a Christmas Tradition of playing my oldest minecraft world, not counting those I have lost access to, every year on 25/12, as it's on the x360 and I haven't figured out how to port Xbox 360 worlds to Bedrock or Java, given that I don't own an Xbox One. It's most likely doable, but I'm a bit lazy and I'm fine the way that it is for this year.

Imo exit without saving is pretty much cheating no? I mean if your world is technically corrupted than yeah, fair enough, but if I saved before fighting the dragon I could have as many attempts as I want and once I finally did win all those failed attempts wouldn't matter. Minecraft is a free game so I'm not going to stop anyone else doing that, but personally it doesn't feel legit to me.

Do not forget that it is possible to create backups of worlds on Java and Bedrock. I wouldn't know about the old Xbox one edition as I never owned that console. I have played minecraft on an x1 which I briefly had access to on a holiday once, but only for about 8 hours total and I never tried to deal with world backups.
