It already is bindable. Use the current recommended version (I believe 444), and look in the default keybinding menu (not K, the actual esc menu) Scroll to the bottom, change Z to whatever you like.

    Oh most excellent thanks!

I'm playing with FTB so stuck behind a number of versions. Glad to see it was resolved, the website still says its hard coded :)

As a lefty, the Z key to make your jetpack go down makes it all but impossible for me to use. Are there plans to make this mappable? Or even just bound to your sneak key like creative?

    Creeper eggs.

If you throw them they'll explode.

Oh man those would be epic. I'd love to stuff a dispenser full of those and just unleash hell on the world.

Talk about a quick way to tunnel as well. You'd have an automatic grenade launcher.

posted a message on What are you eating?
So now that I've established myself in my new world my daily food choices have changed... I wonder if the same applies to others now that most of us have had sufficient time to establish ourselves.

Fish is no longer on my menu. The time I need to spend to restock is now better spent elsewhere on my property.

With a fully operational chicken coop cooked chicken is no longer a delicacy. I've two stacks of cooked chicken in storage and a chest of eggs that I wait until bursting to slaughter. However even with chicken'a'plenty I only ever eat chicken when I'm out spelunking or exploring.

My usual daily meal is now mushroom stew!

Since it is more easily renewable over all other food sources I keep a small supply of it in my home since it's not stackable. However that's not been an issue for me seeing as I've been spending the last several Minecraft weeks in and around my home building the chicken coop, an auto farmer and doing landscape work. It's far more resource efficient for me to eat stew daily and continue to build my stock of chicken and bread.

So, since I've become established my diet has changed from strict fish and bread to mainly mushroom stew and chicken. Bread is kept on hand since it's quite readily available and fish has been cut out entirely.

So who else has had a diet change since become established in your world?

posted a message on [9/22 UPDATE] Animals CAN RESPAWN! New Mobs and Chicken Information Updated!
    Quote from Phar

The reason you're seeing new sheep is most likely being they're wandering over from other chunks.

Quite likely, which is why I've stopped sheering them. Figured I'd throw the idea out there anyways.

So I've a simple question now... is this spawn rate something that is hard-coded or will modders be able to adjust it? As it stands mods like Mo'Creatures and other such mods will be rendered useless with these new patterns.

posted a message on [9/22 UPDATE] Animals CAN RESPAWN! New Mobs and Chicken Information Updated!
So I haven't read through the whole thread however I didn't see much mention about squid.

They seem to be both persistent and non persistent when it comes to spawns. I've seen the same squid stuck in a river for several game weeks and other times I see a new school of squid every time I pass a lake.

While I've done no tests of my own could it be that squid are taking spawn priority over other animals?

I've made sure to explore very little of my land (so I don't have a ton of chunks loaded) yet I do from time to time see the occasional "new" animal. Sheep in particular. Before I knew spawning was buggered I did my usual of sheering and killing all sheep around me which left me with no sheep very quickly. However every few Minecraft days I happen upon one or two "new" sheep.

This usually corresponds with a recent squid killing marathon.

Could it be that since squid spawn conditions are so much easier to meet they are more easily selected for spawning over other critters?

So I take it there is practically no interest in an event like this eh? That or most everyone who is going is to young to even consider an event such as this. Kinda figured a pub crawl might be a miss with the Minecraft crowd.

    Ah well, could'a been fun.

posted a message on What's the coolest Way you've died in Minecraft?
This only just happened to me the other day and is thanks to the new combat tweaks...

I live in a vast plain that I haven't fully explored and while out one night killing creepers for their gunpowder I noticed one in the distance so I decided to charge him. As I charged at the little guy I fail to notice I caught the attention of a nearby skeleton...

Anyways as I get closer I leap into the air like a ninja ready to strike my victim down however at that exact moment the skeleton looses his arrow and nails me on the side knocking me off course and I miss the creeper by inches. Just as I land I notice the creeper was roaming right next to a massive pit into oblivion... Next thing I hear is SSSSSSSSSSSssssssssssssssssss

    KABOOM!

I go flying off the edge of the cliff into the depths of a huge ravine of death... I did not survive the fall :sad.gif:

It was awesome in hindsight. However getting trolled by a skeleton and creeper was not amusing at the time.

    Exactly.

The name of the game in the gaming industry as of now is mod support

If you don't have that, and your game isn't mod-able, it has a month, MAYBE, of gameplay. Unless you're Bethesda, then you just make kick ass games that have too much to do and ridiculous amount of replay value.

    Absolutely agree.

Only Bethesda has always been good about making their games mod-able, usually from day one. Sometimes even with a mod-kit! Look at Oblivion, it's over 5 years old now and still people mod and play it daily. Even Morrowind has some kick left. Fallout 3, same story.

As someone already mentioned here the base, core game, of Minecraft is nearing absolute completion. Notch and company have become barely more than modders for their own game. Modders that are left in the dust by the actual modding community. One thing I'd like to note here is that I play vanilla Minecraft, I barely even touch mods myself but I recognize the truth.

What's interesting is that Minecraft has already earned a reputation among some indie developers with "Minecraft Development." As in getting your game to a halfway finished state, releasing a for sale beta and then having nearly all updates trickle off. In a sense Minecraft is the greatest vaporware that has ever been created.

Don't get me wrong, I love Minecraft and play almost daily but I'm no fanboi and I can recognize the truth that Mojang is a highly unprofessional company with a terrible development cycle.

posted a message on Minecon -Pubcrawl...
So since there is a lack of a Minecon forum subsection I figured this would be as good as any to ask about a Pubcrawl during the Minecon! :smile.gif:

While I love Minecraft as much as anyone what I love more is a good party. I've been to a number of conventions and by far the best ones are always thrown by CCP developers of Eve Online. Main reason being is that CCP knows how to throw a party and their developers know how to drink! :cool.gif:

A convention by itself is good fun and quite interesting but an after party is what can make a normal convention into a great convention. Especially if the developers join in and get wasted along side the fans. I've found some of the most fun can be had when drinking with a bunch of nerds, especially when you all share a common interest.

Seeing as Vegas is one of the best places to party a pub/casino/strip-club crawl is only fitting and would actually be the tipping point of me actually going.

So I ask the question, does anyone know if there is plans of such an event? And if not, would those attending be interested*?

Sadly, I do realize a large majority of attendants will be under the age of 21 however I'm sure that there will be at least a few older folk there, developers included, that may be down for a night of shenanigans.

    * Should the event not be planned, and there is a significant interest I may be able to set it up myself. Just have to dig up some old contacts.

O so they overhauled both Main world and Nether?

No they focused on the Aether period

Because the Nether is finished right? Thought so.

Nether updates don't come until 1.9 which is months away. Until then we still have the complete let down that is the Nether.

That one person isn't working on each and every aspect the game they are focusing on one part, did Cocoa add any new items or blocks, or crafting materials, or objects anything other then animals? No he did not he focused on one thing Animals he did not focus on everything unlike what Notch and Jeb does. Same applies to Millinair mod creator(s)

    The Aether mod. End point.

Only thing the Aether mod didn't change was lighting.

    Thanks bundles! :Diamond:

Debated about getting this mod seeing as I actually like the Endermens ability to move things however walking through yet another dismantled forest convinced me this has to go.

Not sure if it would even be possible but it would be great if you made another version of this that disabled Endermens ability to move certain blocks, specifically wood. A number of folk like the Endermen destructive abilities but when they unleash it on a forest it's maddening.
