ill admit i dont know the mods AT ALL and i had to watch a lets play just to figure out the basics, but ive played vanilla for 3 years. In this i found the hunger to be the most difficult thing so far. perhaps its meant to be like that, but i just couldnt seem to get enough food to keep me alive in the very early stages and so i cheated some in. i feel bad, i hate cheating! i feel so dirty! but i figure it will keep me going as i learn whats what.Quote from jadedcat
You can turn it off in the config. Doesn't make much sense for me to give you lives as a reward if there isn't a penalty for losing your lives. Several people wanted me to do a hardcore by default pack. This is the result. If you know the mods and you know vanilla and you follow the quest book and you stay out of the nether its very hard to die in this pack from anything other than walking off the edge.
PS for the guy asking how to get more dirt, fill up a barrel with 8 saplings and it turns into dirt in a short while. -

Okay, new stone, nice... but why does it have to be in ugly splotches? Why can't the terrain generator randomly select a base material from the types of stone (per biome) and generate all of its stone in a biome as that material?
that is a good idea, i too was surprised to see it just randomly all over the place. pretty damn messy. But whatever. I am glad for some new building blocks.
one more thing.... i dont ever, EVER use default textures because theyre ugly as hell, but the new stone bricks add a whole new dimension of ugly, they seem really rushed and honestly im quite surprised by just how badly done they look, im no artist but im almost positive i could do better! -

YAY!cant believe people complain about the game 'ripping off' mods. thats a GOOD thing. firstly because then we dont need to have the mod, and secondly because it improves the game. This game has so many great features that used to be mods only and i dont know about you, but i hate installing mods then waiting 500 years for them to be updated. Smooth lighting is my favourite thing to ever come from a mod. It would be good if theyd do the damn API but until then, rip away. Its cool for taking screenshots, and i really love the blobby ones, i wish there was one that was all blobby in the background but normal up close. Also its got to be about time for more decorative blocks right?? I mean we decorators have to get pretty creative when filling up our houses, which may not be bad thing, but a block other than bookshelves would be nice! furniture blocks maybe? smaller blocks that can be placed on items, like nik-nak type things! i cant find out how to change it to old north and (less importantly) how to make the minimap square. is there a settings somehwere?? All i can find is 'options' which has very very few actual options D:

not far outside the spaceship, theres a bone/skull. once you break the skull a bone remains and you cant break it or build under it, is there a way to get around this? is it a bug? is it intended? Its in the way of my new house D:

i have only been playing an hour or so and i really like it! But is it true you cant craft any type of door? thats really annoying! I need doors...wouldnt mind some windows too : /

edit: forgot to quote mr fun pants: First, if its already been covered, you should use the search function and use those threads. Second, the minecraft world isnt round and if you attempted to go around it you would reach a point where the game couldnt handle all of the memory and would start to crash before you even hit the 8 times the surface area of the earth mark. However some people have used hacks to move their character to the edge of the world and theres video of it on youtube, I suggest you look it up.
