I skipped over prerelease 6, and couldn't find anything about it on the wiki or the forums.

So perhaps people 'a' getting more stupid 'everday'.

posted a message on Infinite Lava in 1.0?
Back in 1.9pre5 or so, a method of producing infinite lava was introduced. It doesn't seem to be working in 1.0. Was this intentionally removed, or am I doing it wrong?

posted a message on Are local weather effects a goal?
I'm mostly curious if weather is always going to be global or if a long-term goal is to make them local to a biome. I realize that this would be incredibly difficult, but I think it would be excellent, especially on multiplayer servers, to have different weather occurring at the same time in different places.

P2P can stand for a lot of stuff. I'm not wrong. Look it up.

I indeed did look it up, and I do indeed know it can stand for a "lot of stuff". You are the one, who, in your first post said "P2P = Pay 2 Play". Not "P2P can mean Pay 2 Play to some people, so the topic is misleading", but instead, flat out said it meant this without any recognition that there are alternate definitions. I never suggested that there weren't alternate definitions - I even pointed out one of the older definitions in my edit for the sake of full disclosure. You were, in fact, the one who implied that it was the only definition anyone should care about.

If peer to peer was before pay to play, then the latter would be more modern and would apply to people who aren't living in the past.

Again, entirely incorrect. Just because it came first, doesn't mean it is obsolete and outdated. P2P still means Peer 2 Peer, and the technology is still in use today. (Even the Point 2 Point definition is still used in some applications today.) In fact, P2P filesharing is just as mainstream and pertinent a topic as Pay 2 Play games. People who use that definition are not "living in the past", they are living very much in the present alongside the newer definitions.

you dont have to be such a hard ass.

I honestly did not intend to come across that way in my first post. The last line was a pop culture reference - a bit dated but still fun. (Apparently I'm "living in the past".) However, I found your first post to be extremely offensive, and you are not improving.

    Edit:

This morning I came to the realization that maybe I did over-react a bit too much and that while I was not trying to be a hard-ass, I could see where you are coming from. Forgive me - you did make a fair point and I should not have gotten off the cuff. I am reluctant to edit/delete the rest of my post, lest I be accused of deceit.

Congratulations! You just about perfectly described what the better book thread already covers is a much more disire-able manner!

I disagree. I like this suggestion better. The "better book" thread is filled with a ton of ideas for books that don't appeal to me. The only book I want is one I write in myself. Yes, I know that the aforementioned thread also includes such a book, but you shouldn't outright claim that it is more desirable.

    (P2P = pay 2 play)

No, no it doesn't. Peer to peer networks were around before the concept of subscription games was ever invented.

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Edit: *sigh* For the full historical perspective I am also reminded that point-to-point was around before peer-to-peer.

That's an excellent point, I hadn't considered that. All told though, I don't think it'd be too bad, since they'd have to stop at desert biomes and shorelines.

I know it's not strictly relevant, but I was playing on my usual SMP server the other day, and planted a tree (underground, but well-lit). After fertilising it with bonemeal, I decided to trim some of the leaves. However, they kept growing back! At first I thought this was just lag, but then new leaves grew where there had been none at all, too!

I thought there had been a leaf-growing update, but haven't seen this since on any trees. I guess it was just some weird glitch.

You know, now that you mention that, I think I had something similar happen to me in similar circumstances (an underground tree fertilized with bonemeal). Anyway, I think it'd be neat if it became a sort of 'ascended glitch', because a living, dynamic forest would be amazing.

Exactly, This is a good idea, someone even made a mod for Sapplings Dropping From Trees On Their Own and replanting themselves, I think all this would be good

That mod sounds like half of what I want already! Do you know where I could get that?

posted a message on Forest Mechanics
With the advent of weather, this suggestion is pertinent.

I feel that forests should become more dynamic, changing entities. A cool addition would be if leaves grew again if you cut them back, possibly even in different shapes. I would really love it if trees had seasons, where their leaves would periodically decay and grow back. Changing colors would be optional. While the leaves decay, it would be neat if they dropped saplings. Further, I think that unattended dropped saplings - from any source - should have a chance to be automatically planted instead of disappearing when it's time for the dropped item to decay. When the sapling was checked to see if it should grow, if there's not enough room, there should be a chance that it will be destroyed as well.

I also think that leaves should still have a chance of dropping saplings if they are destroyed through fire, and I think that saplings should be immune to destruction by fire if the block they are on is dirt. This suggestion is motivated by the real life forests where fire is an integral part of their life cycle. The other Minecraft day, I was wandering around a forest and I came across a pool of lava that was just under the ground. I more or less forgot about it until later, when I heard the sound of a fire burning. A fire I did not set. I assume that this pool of lava caught something nearby on fire, because soon the entire forest was burning down. As it burned, I was powerless to stop it, and I knew that this once forested area was going to become a plain. But I did think it'd be neat if the forest could grow back, and this would be an excellent mechanic by which to do that.

I say that this is a relevant suggestion in relation to weather, because Notch mentioned that he wanted to add lightning. If he did so, forest fires would be a natural extension of that, and in the aforementioned real-life forests wherein fires support their continued growth, lightning is often a key factor.

posted a message on Bed Spawn Points
So the 1.4 update made it so that the last bed you sleep in is your spawn point? How do you do this? For some reason, no matter what bed I sleep in, my spawn point is the original one I had from the beginning?

Unless I have to start a new world for this, but I didn't think that would be the case.

By the way, I just noticed that I breathe kind of deeply at the beginning of the first 2 videos. xD

I'll try to edit that out next time.

A lot of people actually inhale deeply as soon as a recording starts. I'm not sure why.

Anyway, I like the boat dispenser! I didn't watch the other two, but that one was neat.

Of course Thetis, having been told that her son would die in battle, was supposed to have dipped her son Achilles in the river Styx to try and make him invulnerable (mind you, she held on to him by the ankle and his heel didn't get wet so he ended up getting hit in the heel by a poisoned arrow and dying). Anyway, if it (almost) worked for Achilles, the river Styx should make you invulnerable in MC. :tongue.gif:

    Not a serious suggestion BTW.

Man, I swear you beat me to the witty/intelligent posts every time.
