You can edit your minecraft profile file to make it load a 'guest' account, skipping authentification. I've forgotten how to do so though (can confirm it works at least), and I don't think the mods would like me explaining it hahah.
Try a google search for it. Something like "how to start minecraft offline mode".
The main factors are: 1.7.10 lasted a long time, 1.8 added rendering changes which makes updating hard, and the actual versions are too "young".
People are mainly waiting for another version stall to start modding heavily. Some people are lazy, others are too busy.. As usual with Minecraft mods, chances are that someone will make their own version of the not-updated mod.
1: Do not pay for "someone make this mod" or "someone do this". There's always going to be someone who knows how to code and will be willing. You don't need to risk your money for this.
2: Give info already. Having to ask you through PM without knowing anything about the mods is a recipe for "oh, sorry, that's too complicated, I'm out".
3: Careful with the backports. If the authors get angry, they can trash your backport (and combined with paying money, that's a bad bet).
1: This boils down to personal preference, but sticking to 1.7.10 is only going to hurt you in the long-term. Once everyone passes to a higher version, you're gonna have trouble updating 7 versions at once.
2: Before starting to discuss "I want to make this awesome tech mod", show proof that you guys can at least make something more than a new cheese block. Nothing sucks more than having all the ambition and ideas and then not even knowing how to make ores generate.
How does it not make sense? I didn't mean whoever hits the other first wins, but old combat is really weird in that it simply is just a spam click whilst constantly walking toward eachother to get close enough to hit, which in finality stuff turns into an RNG battle if you have similar gear, or if you have worse gear: almost impossible to win, and combat had no real strategy.
And no, I didn't mess up, I just have a habit of doing that, old habit from a different forum to still quote but not have an extra long message.
Oh, you were talking about the old minecraft vanilla combat, yeah, that makes sense now.
Uh, the old combat turned into a fight of who's hits registered with the server sooner, effectively making fights one sided 90% of the time, and niow you have to actually be strategic about combat, however I would wish we don't go further off topic now.
What? Your whole comment makes no sense. Neither the combat is off-topic nor it's a "first hit wins".
The only reason the 1.7.10 version is "better" is because some major modders are too lazy to (or can't) update to further versions.
And don't tell me it's "becaues the combat update sucks", if you want to spam left click, go to before adventure update, there you can just hold left click and swing all day nonstop.

Wrong section to post this in. I guess the mods deleted it because of off-topic? You guys will want to talk on Mods Discussion

The grappling hook mod works wonders for this https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/grappling-hook-mod
THe only problem is that the attached hook won't follow the ship, so don't hang on for too long!

http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/2761225-valkyrien-warfare-airships-physics-subworlds-and
It's for 1.10 onwards! And it's probably one of the most "compatible" mods, as you can roam around in your airship and play/edit it while it flies

Oh lawd, the animation's so natural. How does the mod work? Does it store the block somewhere then place it where you choose?

Then don't go to random websites. It's as simple as that.
Do you head into random houses to sleep?

Well, considering there's no info at all and we can't see anything in the screenshot, I can say that this mod has nothing and does nothing.

Ok, lemme stop y'all in your tracks
