Right now all dogs do is attack mobs and get in your way (and some times push you off tall things and kill you). Dogs should be able to help you find things. I you give a dog a iron ingot (right clicking with it) he would point out iron ore. The dog would point in the direction with it's body and point up and down with it's head. This would work with everything from coal to iron to diamonds. The skill of find things would last as long as that dog lived. It is a risk to give a dog a diamond, he might find you a ton or die and you get nothing.
i like this idea VERY much! but how bout this?: in order to get a dog, you have to right click it with enough bones until it loves you. how about the same thing applies to ingots and ores. so in order to get your dog to look for iron, you have to right click on him with enough iron ingots/ores in order to get the dog to look for that particular block. this way you could "train" your dog to look for a particular block.
ok, i was playing minecraft today and my friends started and made their own worlds on my computer. they are struggling and i think a good idea would be is to have "Mail Boxes". with this idea, you can send items to other players worlds on your account. heres a example: your friend Jim is playing on his world. jim cant find any coal so using a "Mail-Box", you could put coal in his box from your world, then you could let jim get it from his world. what do you think about this idea? you could also put messages in the box.
ok, i have been playing minecraft for a while now and one day i brought my flash drive to school and somebody stole it. i didn't have minecraft on there but i did install a java program so i could start making mods. since i lost my flash drive with the java mod maker on it, my minecraft file on my computer says i cant run it because it said java was installed to my flash drive. i already tried un-installing and reinstalling but that never works. does anybody have any ideas of how to help?

i was thinking, since obsidian is a rock with no mass meaning, dont you think it would be a good idea to be able to craft Obsidian Swords? it would last longer than iron, but shorter than diamond... this way diamonds are completely useless. but still, what do you think about Obsidian Swords?
Also... it would be a greater weapon of Value in the Nether because its a "Hell" rock

Notch is making adventure mode though, but doesn't involve leveling or anything stupid like that.
well, you are right that it is a survival and creative game but levels are not a good idea. it should just be an ocassional thing you come across. it does make the surviva mode concept a little harder.
i think that once the survival multiplayer is released, that notch should create an "RPG" option. the mode can be to eat to survive and another way you can get tools is to buy them with your points that you can get from killing monsters. you can still make them too also. this is one way that we can improve. and on multiplayer, you can open a shop or service too help out other players. and you can charge them a fee for using your service: "let me ride in ur minecart so i can pass the lava" "ok, but you owe me 2 diamond". jut an example but this is one way i thing minecraft could improve. tell me what you think

well, multi player has chat, but on beta single player mode, you could use it to help out your friend if he/her is in need
