posted a message on Looking to join a Minecraft Survival multiplayer
Well, for one, there's MineBuild vanilla survival. We're friendly, vanilla, and pretty darn fun. We have some plugins, but they are only admin-accessible, and only used for preventing griefers. Come on over to our thread if you'd like.

posted a message on Minebuild Survival Server: Fun, Friendly, 12 players

    Welcome to Minebuild

Hello, I'm Megaman16, one of the founders of a brand new survival server. By brand new, I mean only two or three days old at the time of writing. Our main goals are to create a fun and friendly place where people in Minecraft can hang out, have fun, build, and just play the game as it should be played. We are now on a server whitelist. If you would like to apply, please set up an application as a reply to this thread in the format seen three replies down. Thank you.

    Rules

We have a very loose set of rules, which will certainly be added on to in later times. These are enforced by standard Vanilla minecraft admin tools, as well as some additional admin-only plugins.

    1) Do not touch, take, or in any way mess with things which are not yours, unless you have the express permission of the one who created it.

This means no stealing, no breaking other people's blocks, no building upon other people's stuff, no messing with other peoples' animals, etc.. without them saying that you may. Enforced by warning on first offense, kick on second offense, and ban on repeated offense, as well as the person affected having their items/blocks returned.

    2) Do not disrespect any user, whether they are admins or not.

This means that if you are rude, trolling, etc. to ANY player, you will be punished. Enforced by three warnings, and then a kick on repeated offense. Also, if an admin asks you to do something, and you are able to do it, you do it. As soon as possible.

    3) Do not use any sort of method of "Cheating", as in things like x-ray plugins (Or subsequent texture packs), which give a player an unfair advantage over other players. We're an honest server here; let's keep it that way.

There is an exception to this, however. If your client-side plugin or something akin to that is non-cheating, such as Optifine or something like that, run it by one of our admins and ask if you can use it. We'll probably say yes if we agree that it is truly benign.

That's actually it for the rules (Like I said, not many!). If you can think of anything else we could need, please let me know in this thread.

    Plugins

We at Minebuild try to not use plugins which affect the average player. After all, it is VANILLA survival. However, to aid the task of moderating the server, we have various admin plugins installed. To give an advantage over the average griefer, we will not be listing the plugins we use anywhere.

    Admins

We are currently a bit understaffed at the moment, but are nonetheless effective as-is. If you would like to apply, please ask us on the server itself. Also, if you want to be an admin, you must have been on the server for enough time for the admins of the server to get to know you, as it is they who will be determining your joining or not. We need people who are willing to actually be an admin, who know how to handle situations.

Our admins are very kind (excluding our dear Host. :P), forgiving (again.), and willing to help if it is needed (Actually he's pretty good on this one.). If you would like to repeal a ban, message me, Megaman16, with why you got banned, what your in-game username is, and why you think that you should be unbanned. The admin hierarchy goes as such.

    Host/Founder
    Kalin1

    Head Admin/Co-Founder
    Megaman16

    Admins
    Stickbob771
    uprootdeath
Due to the size of the server, the estimate for staff size is 5-6 total, so we have 2-3 more open spots for applications.

    IP Address

The IP Address of the server is 208.66.77.106, the server should be up 24/7, but an admin may shut it down late at night (EST) if there isn't anyone on. So, expect 24/7.

    Ending

We are currently testing various plugins, and I will post a list later on. We are 100% vanilla now due to the Bukkit mass-admin quitting.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read and join our server. If you have any suggestions, complaints, etc, please feel free to log them in this thread. Thank you and have a nice day.

    Quote from Geartooth

Because there isn't enough dirt to go around already.

There is infinite world generation, therefore infinite dirt. You can just go really far away and get the dirt from there, or get it underground.

Since dirt generates in chunks, and chunks are infinite, Dirt can be considered a renewable resource.
If it's already a renewable resource, why farm it?

Well technically the world isn't infinite, but it's so large that it'd take up thousands, or perhaps tens of thousands of double chests, filled with dirt. I agree with what you say, though, dirt is easy to find in out of the way places.

    Quote from ColoBob

Have you ever seen a computer commit suicide? I haven't but I'm sure this map type would do the trick.

This really is a great idea if only something could be done about the lag. There should be small pockets of life throughout the massive caverns though instead of being isolated in small caves.

Thank you, sir, for being a part of the people who represent those who do NOT read the actual suggestion. I covered both of those subjects in the main thread, so your lack of reading it makes your comment stick out like a sore thumb.

The Mystcraft API has improved to the point that people are now making new world types for mystcraft using it.
So, one possible fast implementation would be to hook into this -- and then you can teleport yourself to a caveworld to play in.

I've played the Mystcraft mod, I enjoyed it immensely, however the caveworld in that is NOT what I mean by infinite caves.
I mean, quite literally, infinite caves, caves that are far larger than the ones we have currently, but not the Mystcraft caveworld, which is more like just putting a roof over the ceiling and calling it that.

Also, slightly off topic, I feel like I have seen your username off the Minecraft Forums before.. :Pig:

I'm not going to lie, when I saw the thread title, I thought it was going to be stupid, probably a quick easy way to get ores or something.

    But it's not. Support.

Hah, yeah. I've seen plenty of Those types of threads before, that are always something like "a prtl u make wit 8 stone nd 1 watur nd dere r supahr daimunds dat make unbreakable tlols". Though, some are better grammar then others.

Calm down, just because you don't understand how something works, doesn't mean that it is the stem of all evil, it just means you need to either find a better tutorial or try to understand it better.

posted a message on Fix Hit Detection
I would guess it's because of the SMP - SSP merge, which migrated every single SMP glitch to SSP, along with the natural lag that comes with any multiplayer server. Sorry, but I don't believe there's much they can do about it, unless you are talking about how mobs occasionally dissapear into the ceiling, and you can't hit them, but they can hit you.

posted a message on Miners vs Monsters game mode
    I do like this idea, but the moment I saw the title, I immedietly thought this;

Miners vs Monsters - MvM - Mann vs Machine

Team Fortress 2, ironically, is made by the same people who made Left 4 Dead.

    Conspiracies, conspiracies everywhere.

Edit: I just noticed the date of this thread. The conspiracy level increases.

posted a message on Generator Block
Can you please elaborate more on the block, for example, what would it use for fuel, what would it cost to craft, or perhaps how would it be any different from setting up a simple lever and redstone wire? Also, a specific light that only turns on for the generator block, that seems a bit redundant since Redstone Lamps were added, and it's really simple to make and wire them. A basic summary of what I mean; Why not just use redstone lamps?

posted a message on Ravenous Potion
I was thinking that you can eat any non-block item, but upon drinking the potion your saturation and your hunger are immedietly drained down to 1/2, and each thing you eat gives you 1/2 a drumstick of hunger and saturation. It only lasts for 30 seconds, but the effect of the drained hunger would remain unless you filled it yourself.
