How do I install this on a Mac? I tried to drag/drop the client folder on the Minecraft app but the game just started, nothing more. :Sheep:

you need to open the jar (open minecraft not the app)
to do so you can use 7zip - just google it
although im not sure how well it works on mac if it does sorry :sad.gif:

then put the contents of the folder in there :iapprove:

Thanks, but yeah, 7zip doesn't work on Mac. And what is this minecraft.jar file? I can't find anything like that.

First, minecraft.jar is located inside your user home directory in Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin. To get there, open up finder, then select the menu item Go and then choose Go to Folder..., and type in "~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin" (without the quotes).

You should now see a folder with an item named 'minecraft.jar' in it. Rename minecraft.jar to minecraft.jar.zip, and say that yes, you want to change the extension.

Double-click on minecraft.jar.zip, and now you should have a folder named minecraft.jar. Navigate around this folder and replace files as per the directions for this mod, and it should work for you. And don't forget to delete the META-INF folder.

    Hope this helps!

Is there any chance this mod could be extended to load biome colors (glasscolor.png and foliagecolor.png) from texture packs? As far as I know, that's the only remaining texture-pack-related reason to put files in minecraft.jar.

    Thanks for the awesome mod.

posted a message on Is this a chunk fail? (This time I am pretty sure it is!)
Ignoring that it doesn't look like a typical chunk error, you can measure the dimensions of the hole. By my counting, it's roughly 20x20. Chunk errors will always be integer multiples of 16x16 due to what chunks are.

For OS X users having the patcher freeze:

Make sure you do NOT have support for assistive devices enabled. To check, go to System Preferences, Universal Access, and make sure the checkbox "Enable access for assistive devices" is unchecked.

Hope this helps someone else get these mods working!

posted a message on z-buffer fighting on OS X
When playing minecraft on OS X, I have significant z-fighting in clouds and distant terrain. If I can trust the GL profiler, it says minecraft is creating an 8-bit depth buffer, which is woefully inadequate. On this same system running Windows 7, there is no issue. I can play much more graphically demanding games on this system without any problems, so this probably isn't as simple as "OS X drivers sukc lol," unfortunately (or fortunately?)

Here's an image (cropped and lightened) which shows what I'm talking about.

My graphics card is a Radeon HD 4870, and I've applied all OS updates available. Before someone says "drivers," those are included in the OS updates :smile.gif:

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as these artifacts get a little annoying.
