i find it somewhat funny to see 1GB for 25 playerslots. lets say that you would get 25 players on 1 or 2GB RAM.... it will lag like crazy.....

posted a message on Top 4 Resource Packs 1.7.4
there is no such thing as a top resourcepack. all personal taste, nothing more nothing less. argueable there is top packs but once again all personal taste. instead of making a top resourcepack list take a resource pack and make a decent review of it. describe it. tell how it makes you feel etc etc. this type of videos is done way to much.

    Step 1: Grab "Bucket Tool"
Step 2: Fill entire texture with solid color
Step 3: Use Pencil tool to add "detail"
    Step 4: Repeat
    Step 5: ?!?!!!????
    Step 6: PROFIT! :D !! Fame4Evr!!

    Ok ok, seriously:

    1. Like everyone else is saying. Think up a theme you want! Do you want to make a themed pack based on something? (Steampunk, Candyland, Faithful, Another World, <Movie>, <Video Game>)
    2. Once you find a theme, now pick a style. Pixel Art? Cartoony? "Photo-realistic"(Please no!)? Vector Art?
    3. Go buy Photoshop CS6 Extended, it's only $1000 at Office Max!
3b. Download GIMP or Paint.net (I recommend GIMP personally). They're both free, and GIMP can do everything you need!
    3. Practice! You no doubt suck at making textures now. (Cold hard truth) Find a single texture, something simple like dirt or stone. fiddle with it for hours, days even, just keep working on it. Work on your shading, colors, style, everything. Don't quit until you make one awesometastic texture.
    4. Never-ever-ever rush! Quality will get people's attention, quantity will get you laughed at. It's better to do 1 texture a week, than 20 a day.
    5. ???
    6. Real non-monetary feel-good profit!

One thing I did in my early days of drawing was looked at other people's work. I recommend finding a style you like and trying to duplicate it at first (but don't rip if off!). Just sit there, look at it, really try to break down what makes it "pop". Then replicate the process! It's the best way to learn IMO. Eventually, it'll all become second nature.

Another thing to keep in mind is the subtlties of the various styles, some styles really need palettes (a lot of pixel art packs for example) while others really don't. This is art, you make your own rules. But it's nice to ask others who are within your style-group for good start up hints, then once you're good.. do your own thing. :D

all true except for photoshop i paid only 150 euro for it as i am a student. (on old one with that) currently i am theming my telephone (android) and once that is done i can think of minecraft. i should be done around halfway december so i reckon i start after christmas or something. but in the meantime i think i have downloaded about 40 texturepacks and tried them all. i must say all the fine happy candy colored texturepacks do not grasp me at all, same with the cartoony stuff and the overly realistic packs. i like calm darker tinted and often hand drawn packs. soartex i like but it is for me to bright. i like it a bit darker. i was thinking to give different kind of area´s a different look. in the same style but different brightness. obvious sand area will be lighter then jungle area for example. i find the jungle more of a glorified extended tree forest then anything else.

lots to think about and i do apreciate all the feedback given here.

    Something changed in Camera Studio in 1.5 so that it no longer works for tiled resolution. Furthermore the Camera Studio creator hasn't been active for over a month. Things aren't looking good ;___;

that he aint active for a month does not mean anything. he updates posts and leaves. so he did previous times. it just works if you follow the instructions right. and furthermore we can help with serious issues not helped before. just browse through the topic and most solutions are there already.

or the people screaming that minecraft is unplayable without optifine.... go buy a new system to play minecraft on. it is not that if you cant play a few weeks you will die or some monster comes and eats your hand or whatever. give the creator a bit time. i am sure he will fix it!

thanks for the replies. appreciate it allot.

i do not want to make money nor want fame or any other kind of praise unless i actually deserve it. being that said i do not really mean to release a resourcepack, first i probably will go mad by the people telling me to update it and second i just really want to improve and learn myself in what i like to do in a nice and easy envirenmont as is my house (going to school is already a drag, so i prefer to do a lot of work at home instead). it will be hard to start but once the ball goes i usually keep going till im done unless i am stuck more then 2 weeks then i put the project in the fridge and move on for a while.

i really want to better my graphic skills in seamless texturing and it really came to me it would be good to do this withing minecraft. i play it already any way so why not ;)

i really like the answers here! i just want to know what people think. its very hard for me to start on something if i do not have a guide line to work with. currently i am working on a different project then minecraft at all so i wont have that much time on my hands for this, but i have it in my mind to start with it someday in december hopefully.

i work pretty much with music as well (as in producing sounds and sound effects) so i might just make a sound resource pack to start with. replacing sounds is not easy but it is workable very easy and i can work from there out into the graphics. and yeah i might fall back on the old egyptian style as i really do love the art they had back then. although i am pretty sure there is a pack out there already with it, i might just give it a go!

No i do not want to ask for help here. i just think to make a small discussion on how to start up your own resourcepack.

i myself am a little sad to see the packs seeing stomped out of nearly no original idea´s. i got stuck with older packs which get not updated to often but the originality is great. the creators take good care of what they do and stay true to their designs. i find many packs repetitive and really would like to see something new and original.

now i have been thinking to start up my own resourcepack, but this will take time to do good and it will be personal.

i wondered what people think is a good way to start a new resourcepack. after taste and research on what one can do and/or is capable of doing with photoshop and sound editing programs, where should one start?

with the sounds? make a mockup of all blocks? or do you prefer as artist to start with something totally different?

i myself have started now with the GUI as it will represent the whole taste of the game as soon one logs into the game.

what are your thoughts? let me know if you like :)
