I downloaded this and tried to start it up, but it doesn't start the game for me from the lobby. I select my difficulty by right-clicking the sign, right-click on the "ready" sign, and it says "Ready? Make your selection below". But there is no more option to make a selection, even if I hadn't already selected my difficulty -- right-clicking does nothing. And nothing else happens. I can't see anywhere else that I'm supposed to go -- there's no exit -- and I would assume it SHOULD tp me to my starting position, anyway.

Is this just not working in 1.12 yet? Or am I doing something wrong or missing something I should be seeing?

Kabo? I've looked over the last few pages of comments but haven't really found a simple answer to the simple questions: What version do I need for 1.12 (SSP, vanilla)? Where can I get it?

I love the idea of this game. Question. The latest version says random direction. How does that work? Does it pick a new direction each day? Does it tell you during the day which direction it will be moving the next morning?

If I was planning it, I'd make it move a random direction each day and tell you during the day which direction it would move next, but make that direction be NOT ever the reverse of the day before, so you never wind up right back where you were the day before yesterday.

Of course even if it does move back to where you were 2 days before, you wouldn't have been able to predict that in advance, so you couldn't exactly plan and leave things behind for your future self, anyway. But if it's a random direction with any chance of ever winding up where you were before, at least you can leave spare things in chests when you can't carry everything anyway, and those chests always *might* be useful in the future. Assuming the world border doesn't delete chests or structures or anything as it goes, of course.

Um. Fish don't spawn. You never see the fish until you catch them. They're not really there before that.

Oh, another question -- Do the skeles ever drop armor when they die in the lava? If so, does it make a difference whether you hit them with a weapon or with your hand?

How about a world download instead?

The switch on the dispenser will rapidly spawn zombies and skeletons in the water elevator (there is a lava trap to get rid of baby zombies). When you have a bunch on the trapdoor, go to the chest for the Wooden Sword of DOOM! There are two of them, one with mending, and one without. When you have the sword, go to the opening in the glass drop tower and push the stone button to bring the mobs down to the kill block, then whack 'em with the Wooden Sword of DOOM (once) and watch the carnage.

If you look around you'll see some command blocks. They have nothing to do with the mob grinder. They only keep it daytime and clear weather. You can mine the daylight sensor to turn them off, or switch to /gamemode 1 and destroy them if you want.

There are 256 zombies and 320 skeletons in the dispenser. I haven't tried spawning all 576 mobs at once because that would almost certainly crash my poor little ultrabook (at the very least it would slow the game down to slideshow frame rates). If you have a more powerful system it might be interesting to see if you can still get a one-hit kill on all of them, and how much XP levels it results in.

The grinder is a modified version of one made by sZPeddy.

The worldsave is for PC/Java Minecraft version 1.11.2.

Question. Why do you have the whole complicated elevator and drop and lava dropper system? Why not just bring the skeles along horizontally to the spot with the lava overhead? Just make the water stop one block before that so they don't jump before you hit them. Wouldn't that work just as well and be way simpler and cheaper?

posted a message on Is silk touch on a diamond axe good?
Hopefully you've figured this out by now, but with any villager trade for an enchanted tool, USE THE TOOL almost all the way up first. He actually doesn't care whether you give him a brand new tool or one that is one use away from breaking, and he will give you a brand new, unused, enchanted tool in exchange.

As someone said, silk touch on an axe is of questionable worth, but the unbreaking II is worthwhile, and a few emeralds (easily obtained by trading) are definitely a good price to have your old broken axe made new again.

Yup, I did play it recently too, and it still plays just fine. (Actually I don't know for sure that the lava still rains down if you don't complete it in time, since I didn't take that long to complete it, but otherwise, it's definitely fine.) I wasn't going for any speed records, but I quite enjoyed it. I had a couple false starts before I found where everything was (and decided to start over because I could clearly do much better, or because I'd wasted something I realized I needed for another purpose, or somesuch).

This should be: Past the Pyramid, the Mutually Assured Generosity Station. Beyond it is Curtain Call and the bottom of a cavern area containing redstone ore, among other things...

No. "Beyond it are A and B" is correct. "Beyond it is A and B" is not. A = Curtain Call; B = the bottom of a cavern area.

It depends on whether you want to move cargo or just people. 1:38 for people, but you need 1:8 for cargo. Even more if your route is not flat. bringing carts full of materials up to the surface from a diamond mine, you could easily go through 50 gold rails.

This game is kind of a cute little time-waster.

    I accidenally married...

    ...a MAN!!!!!
When I was only even dating women!!!
This is creepy, because it's JUST LIKE MY REAL LIFE!!!

    Seriously.
In real life, I'm a lesbian married to a man.
(I did, at least, know he was a man before I married him.)

Unlike real life, though, this game allows for frustrating love triangles, but no polyamory.

And in seriousness, I was very glad to discover that player's or character's gender does not affect who you can marry. This is good, and is also very much in the spirit of Minecraft, where any mob can mate with any other.

    Oh, and Anistuffs:

I'll address some of your items here.

The button with the "Up" is a bit tricky. If you go up 2 floors, there's a sign that says "Below". The Up one opens the access to a chest that is by the Below, so you have to hit the "Up" button, then go 2 floors up and grab the UID in the chest that is near the "Below" one.

"leave me ALONE / leave me HERE" is a hint to leave the book there in the chest so you will remember where "the PAIN" is. That why it says "Will you remember?". No one has understood this clue that I've seen. So I labelled the chest "the PAIN" just in case.

I'm not sure which trapped chest you are talking about. There's one that is connected to a command block that says "Empty. My bad." I tried to make funny excuses to why the map was blocked off rather than just a wall. If it's not that, I'm not sure which one.

    Ah!

I probably did get the "below" one, since I started on the bottom level and worked my way up. Maybe I would have connected it with the "Up" sign if they'd been "Up" and "down" or "above" and "below", but "up" and "below" didn't link in my mind.

I actually did leave that book (and alll the others I had, since my inventory was getting full) in the "pain" chest. It would be nice if you could make something happen -- a UID to find? some other kind of bonus collectable? -- if someone leaves the one book there after opening the chest, that doesn't happen if they don't. Or if they leave more than that book. I don't know whether there's a way to test for which books/items are left, though. (I know you can test for 0 items vs. some, but I also don't think you can test for 1 vs. 2.)

The trapped chest was probably the "empty, my bad" one. I think I only noticed the "my bad" the first time I opened it, and after that I just noticed that it was trapped and wondered what it did.

    One more suggestion.

I thought the hint to leave the "undeveloped" personalities at the end was pretty clear, and I'm surprised more people didn't get it. But it would also be nice if it actually made a difference to the endgame.

The hint in the begginning that the end is "impossible for you alone" is intended to warn you that you can't escape in the end. But now that there are 2 endings, maybe it should be that as long as you are "alone" you can't escape, but if you are not "alone" -- if you keep those UID's on you -- or better yet, spawn at least one of them!! -- then you can escape to the light? You would need some more clues, I think, to give people the idea to actually spawn some, without being TOO obvious about it. (And the UID's are supposed to be optional, I know, but it's pretty unlikely that anybody would actually get to that point without having at least one, right?)

Maybe there could be a pressure plate that is the only way to open a door safely, but the only way to get the door to open and stay open is to put a spawned villager (or some other spawned entity) on the pressure plate? This wouldn't work in multi-player, but then in multi-playwer the character isn't "alone" from the start, so that's a little different anyway. But in single player... maybe a minecart on a pressure plate in an alcove, since once you push a mob into a minecart it stays there? And the minecart would also help give people the idea to put a mob in there.

    What do you think?

Ah, something about the "creeper trap":

I think I broke it XD

Ah, so I wasn't the first to do that! I hadn't read through this thread before my playthrough, though, so I did at least have the idea independenly. :)

That would also have been a great place to hide a UID.
