error 503 is a connection error meaning the server cannot authenticate who you are because minecraft.net is down. However, the game is working for other people so it might be something to do with your area i am not sure. I suggest tweeting at mojang about your issue and/or using downdetector.com to find out if there is anything wring with minecraft in your area.
