    Definitions
In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: Role playing is exactly as its name suggests. Playing a role. One assumes the role of a character be it fictional or otherwise. A person while role playing has their character act according to a personality that they gave it that could be, but doesnt have to be completely different than their own. This gives a person the chance to almost live another life.
Meta-gaming: Meta gaming is the use of out of character information in character usually for an unfair advantage. This just means that any information that you know that your character would not know. This could be as simple as following an OOC map when your character is in unfamiliar territory or could be that you know from an outside source such as the forum that someone will attack your territory in a surprise attack and you prepare for it.
Power-emoting: Power emoting is using an emote to put a player in a situation where they cannot react. Such as saying *i rob you* or *i chopped off your head* . you cannot use emoting to force yourself into another players storyline or to avoid role playing to get a desired outcome.

    In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:

    Full Name: Irghils Avarson
    Current Age: 26
    Sub-race (if any): Northerner
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):

To fully understand Irghils son of Avar you must not only know of his past but the events that came before him. In fact we will need to go back several generations to when his ancestors still lived in the realm known as Aegis. Irghils’ ancestors were members of a small noble house in the north of Aegis whose family name was but one of the many casualties of sundering of Aegis. Because of the harshness of the weather and the constant threat from the undead the family and the peasants living in their small settlement lived a good, but harsh life. This all changed when the undead started sweeping across Aegis, seeming to destroy all in their path. When the undead came upon Irghils’ family’s settlement they tried to hold back the undead in vain. All but a small group that escaped in the chaos of the battle were killed. In that small group was a small boy who would one day become Irghils’ grandfather. The group was lucky. They made it to the Verge and were on the boats that set sail for a new land eventually arriving at Asulon. As settlements in this new land started to be constructed Irghils’ grandfather was taken in by who was formerly a servant in his fathers house.
This is important because although much did not remain from his former life some did survive, mostly stories and a code that the family had lived by, something not too dissimilar from what was known as chivalry in another place and time. This code would be passed down from the boy to his son and eventually on to Irghils. This code would become an important factor for how Irghils lived most of his life.
Irghils was born in the settlement of Ager, both of his parents the decedents of the group that escaped the undead attack. He was not the first child in his family. His parents first child had died in his first year of life due to disease. His family were farmers, something that he was not very good at. In his childhood he would often run into neighboring wheat fields to escape his daily chores. There were always repercussions for his actions and many times he would go without dinner, or have extra chores done under the watchful eye of either his mother or father. His childhood was mostly uneventful, it was what was expected for a boy growing up in a farming community. There was one event that did leave its mark on his childhood that should have been a happy occasion. When he was 10 his mother died in childbirth and the child his sister did not last the night. Although it did have a lasting impact on Irghils it had a worse impact on his father. His father was a proud man and although he didn’t show it in public but at home he was a wreck for several years. During this time Irghils had to take more and more responsibility in the farming. He did his best but the harvests became scarcer and scarcer over the next few years, he never did seem to have the knack for farming. It took a long time but eventually his father returned to his normal self and life for the two of them returned to some semblance of normalcy.
This normalcy ended due to what seemed like mere chance. He met a member of the Order of the White Rose. The man was a knight of the order sent to take care of a few bandits that had made their base near the town. Irghils met the man in the local tavern and continued to talk to him over the next few days whenever he had the time. The night before the knight was to leave he asked Irghils to go with him and join the order. Irghils thought about the knights offer for a good while before talking to his father. While his father did not agree with his choice he understood it and was both sad and happy to see his son leave the town. In the morning Irghils gathered what few possessions he had and left with the knight for Rivia.
There he was trained first as a Footman. He found that due to his size and build he was quite good at fighting and quite quickly gained an apprenticeship with one of the more senior Men-at-arms. Eventually he was able to prove his worth and was elevated to the rank of Man-at-arms and even saw some actual combat during a few skirmishes.
Life was looking good for Irghils, he was helping to defend the Holy Oren Empire, the Order of the White Rose and the church and was seeming to do quite well at it. Then Irghils made a mistake. He got into a verbal fight with a superior officer, who happened to be the very same knight that had recruited him over some trivial subject. Irghils wouldn’t back down even after he had been proven wrong in the argument and the verbal battle quickly turned physical. The fight was quickly broken up but the damage was already done. He was lucky, he was only exiled from the order with most of his possessions striped from him.
The first couple months after his exile were tough for him. He didn't know what to do, he wandered around the Capital Arethor for several months. Even though he was so close to his former home Ager he never returned. He eventually found out quite by accident that he could use some of the combat skills he had learned with the order to earn a living. He had stopped what appeared to a robbery on one of the roads leading out of the capital and it turned out there was a bounty on one of the robbers. Since then he has traveled around the Holy Oren Empire and even beyond it working as a mercenary. He has tried his best to adhere to the code of his forefathers and not sink to the depths that it seems that others in his line of work tend to fall to.

Ambitions for the Future: Making money and growing stronger in combat while trying to help some people along the way.
Personality: Irghils has been hardened by some of the events in his life and as such he is not a trusting person even of his friends. He is clever, maybe even considered intelligent although he is completely illiterate. He is not fast to anger although when he does become angry it is not pleasant to be in the same room as him. He generally is a good person willing to help anyone in need no matter who or what race they are. He does not have a way with words and prefers for his actions to speak for him. One of his shortcomings is that like his father he is a proud man, too proud and sometimes this can get him into trouble.
    Skills: Farming, trained warrior.

    ____

    1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?

Answer: Seeing the shady looking figure at first I don't pay him any mind. But he peaked my curiosity. After watching him for a moment it looked like he was heading for the Emperor’s palace. Looking to my left the guards that I had saw earlier are in the same spot and also seem to be oblivious to the shady individual. Standing up from the bench that I had been resting on I decide to take matters into my own hands. I try to follow him into the ally that he had just walked into without being noticed. I accidentally made one too many heavy footfalls because as soon as I turned the corner the man was rushing at me with a dagger in his hand. My instincts kick in at this point barely dodging the man’s thrust with the weapon. I think that there is no question that I would be able to take this man down but that would be too much trouble. After barely dodging another of the man’s attacks, this time cutting my shirt and scratching my skin I yell as loud as I can “Guards!”. At this point I could see the mans eyes under his cloak and I could see fear in his eyes. The man runs back the way he came and as I emerge from the ally I see the guards chasing after him. Its now that I notice the small sting on my chest and look down annoyed that the the small amount of blood from the wound had ruined my shirt. I have half a mind to go find that man, he owed me a new .

    2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react?

Answer: After hiding behind some vegetation at the edge of the clearing I realise that i'm just too far away to be able to make out what they are saying. I look around but it doesn't look like i would be able to get any closer without being seen. I decide that the best course of action would just be to wait to see what is actually going on. He didn't want to just rush in there to have it be some sort of misunderstanding. After the two men start to push the old man around I don't see any other choice and get up from my hiding place and start moving towards the men. Luckily I was approaching from the rear of the two men who were antagonising the old man and it was only when I was about ten feet away from them that they heard me and turned around. “Can I help you two?” I asked. Both of the men now drew their swords. “If you know what is good for you you will leave the way you came real quick like.” The first said while the second pointed his sword at me. [/b]
“Im sorry but im going to have to ask you to stop bothering this old man” I say my hand moving to rest on the pommel of my sword. The two bandits looked at eachother and then back at me. “Well we warned you.” The second one said before slashing at me with his sword. I was able to duck and role under the strike drawing my sword as I got back to my feet. The first of the two bandits had drawn his sword by now and I rushed at him making a few attacks that were all blocked and then barely blocking a strike from the second bandit. The first then made a mistake making a double handed overhead strike hoping to break my block but instead I was able to make a quick stab to the man's gut. He tried to get out of the way
but it was in vain as my sword went right through him. I had to dive to the right in order to not get hit by a quick attack from the now enraged remaining bandit. My hands could not keep the grip on my sword and I now found myself without a weapon. The bandit had an evil smile on his face as he walked toward me that quickly turned to shock and pain as he quickly exhaled and fell forward, the old mans blade in the mans back. I looked around confused. I was happy that this was over but the old man was nowhere in sight. I assumed that he had threw the blade and made a run for it but I shuddered to think that it was some sort of magic. I looked over the bodies for any valuables, finding little and then covered the bodies the best I could.

    3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens).

Answer: Walking up to the stall i'm not looking forward to this. Merchants are always annoying to deal with. It takes too long to get even a fair price for anything. “What a nice day this is isn't it sir? So what can I do for you on this fine day?” The halfling spoke cheerily to him. “I need enough dried food to last for a 10 day journey. “Is that all? I just happen to have a fresh supply of jerky. A 10 day supply, that would be 35 minas” the halfling replied. I sigh pulling out my gold pouch. “Look I know that that much would not be worth more then 20 minas, but i'll just pay 25 it that will avoid unnecessary haggling.” The halfling looked at him strangely before laughing and started to pack up the meat in a cloth. “You know what, I like you lets call it 22 minas and i'll wish you a good trip.” I smile and pull the money out of my pouch and hand it to the halfling. Taking the jerky I wish him a good day and move on to gather the rest of the supplies I would need.
