    the idea is not to fight them but to tame them >________>......that's why i put them neutral, so you can fight them or control them....

    ok you know what?, im going to give it another twist....i edited the original idea:

    -Zerg are now Hostile but you can steal some eggs and breed your own Hive.....so you can challenge Zerg vs Zerg.........

    this could be fun if the mod could become for SMP because there could be some Zerg Wars. maybe adding a whole Starcraft-like environment....giving also Terran objects so players can defend to Zergs and attack too...

    the problem i see with mineral is exactly that i dont know which is its real name, Blizzard never gave it a cientific name for it so its called Minerals, or Crystals. as far i know.

    BACKGROUND:

    two alien races have come to minecraftia for struggle, by one side are the infestive Zerg, and the other are the civilizated Protoss, now that players face this extraminecraftian creatures, they have to decide if they'll fight for them, dominate them, or destroy them. some colonists of the Terran Dominion have come to help you, you'll find them in their own NPC villages and will spread their knowledge with you.

    about the races

    1. The Zerg:

    Zergs came form outer space and stablished hives all around Minecraftia, they're hostile to almost all living things except prey mobs like Chicken, Cows, etc... they're really hard to kill and are very powerfull as a whole, but you can tame them if you get some eggs from their Hatcheries...once you have your own larvae you'll be able to create your own Hive...

    each new game generates a single hive, maybe in some updates the zerg could add colonization of other areas. the hives start as single hatcheries and grow with the time, when drones have gathered enough resources they'll start to form new buildings thus helping to create new strains of Zerg. Hives are almost like and artificial Biome, dirt is covered by a layer of living resource called "Creep" which gives life to the buildings. this element can be gathered as single or as "Swarm Blocks" and spreads the same way as micelium or grass, but it cannot expand to other blocks apart from Dirt. how much Hives extend their Creep is yet to be decided.

    the Zerg have a natural resistance to lava, but they cannot resist the cold, so Hives cannot produce in Tundra biomes, this could change in the future, as this creatures are adaptable.

    TYPES:

    Zergs are xenomorphic creatures which live in a hive society. the most basic are the larvas which evolve in any of the several forms that are avaliable. the current species of zerg known are:

    -Larva: they born from hatcheries, they're passive mobs with low stats but once given X food they'll transform in cocoons which later evolve in some of the following adults

    -Drone: they're the collectors of the hive, Drones can get resources more easy than which do the player and can survive to lava. Drones can evolve in Hatcheries and another interesting biological buildings.

    -Zergling: they're the low rank army of the hive, their behaviors are similar to those of wolfs, they can resist fire and lava and have better stats.

    -Hydralisk: a bit hard to train this creatures are the first tameable mob with ranged attack, Hydralisks use deadly spines as weapons but can attack with their long claws. hydralisks also can evolve to Lurkers, which are subterranean mobs, Lurkers use underground spines for killing mobs, and can be trained to stay in one place as sentinels, good fore defensive tactics.

    -Mutalisk: the first tameable mob which flies, Mutalisk shoot to enemies from the air, they have a second evolution which can be used as flying mount.

    -Overlord: slower than Mutalisk, Overlords serve as aerial transport and mobile warehouses, they have 2 times the cargo of a double chest.

    -Overseer: faster and bigger than the Overlord, Overseer can find players trought blocks and haves a high range of vision, tamed Overseers can carry 2 times the items and Overlord can.

    -Nydus Worm: the biggest of all the terrestrial Zergs, this creatures are gigantic tunnelers which can carve even the most hard obsidian, althought they cannot break bedrock. Nydus Worms can gather large quantities of ores and are invulnerable to Lava, they can be used to carve large tunnels.

    -Queen: a high rank Zerg, Queens are powerfull companions which can both battle and serve in Zerg related tasks as improving the speed of evolution of some species and making hatcheries give birth to larvas more faster.

    -Ultralisk: a heavy type Zerg, Ultralisks are huge Zergs with a pair of kaiser blades that can kill several groups of mobs. Ultralisks have almos 4 times the size of a player and are hard to mantain so only skilled players can train this majestic behemoths.

    -Defiler: defilers are support Zergs, they have several interesting powers which can help to kill large groups of mobs in an area. they're a bit slow and weak but have powerfull skills

    -Leviathan: this are the biggest of all Zergs, this creatures are only aerial and are almost living bases, they have hatcheries and other buildings inside and can transport even nydus worms. very usefull when you want to travel long distances.

    -Queen of Blades: the leader of the hive, there can only be one per game, so think as her as Charlotte, if you loose her, you'll never be able to recover her. the Queen of Blades is the most inteligent of the Zerg because it has absorbed human genes, and will be an important companion, she haves the several actions like gather resources, fighting, follow you, she haves double the players stats and an armor with the same resistance as obsidian, so she's pretty hard to kill, also she survives in lava and water so dont worry too much for her.

    -Baneling: evolves from Zerglings, this strange suicidal creatures appeared when the hive absorbed DNA from Creepers........unlike them Banelings drop acid when they die, the acid can be harvested with a bucket.

    -Roach: a low rank Zerg, this armored creature regens faster than the others and shoots acid form short distances.

    -Infestor: this strain of zerg uses parasites to control other mobs, players are vulnerable too, once you are infected you have few days before dying. so try to find a cure, (the cure will be invented later)

    -Swarm Host: this new strain evolves from the Infestor, instead of controling other creatures it creates Locust which attack in groups.

    -Devourer: this evolution of the Mutalisks uses Acid as ranged weapon, its harder to kill than the Mutalisk.

    -Guardian: evolves from the Mutalisks, and focuses in bombardment, it uses acid bombs to destroy blocks and creatures. only late game blocks survive their attacks (diamond, obsidian, netherbrick, endstone, crystal ore, creep and exoskeleton)

    -Corruptor: this creature evolves from the Devourer, it has increased its armor and its acid can destroy blocks now.

    -Brood lord: evolves from the Guardian, it has become faster and now uses living projectiles, can summon Scourges and Broodlings to attack players. this little kamikaze creatures have weak attacks but they're numerous.

    (i know there's some inaccuracies but i wanted to keep the units of the original starcraft and the Starcraft II units too).

    Zerg Structures:

    since Zerg buildings are part of a complez hive, they have their own blocks, Drones can help you to create a hive, but the base of it are the "Swarm Block" and the Creep these blocks are alive, and are like the things which give life to the buildings. there's several buildings the Zerg have in the hive:

    -Hatchery: this building produces larvae. given enough time it could evolve into a lair and then a complete hive

    -spawning pool: this strange pools allow larvae to become zerglings

    -evolution chamber: this building allows the evolution of some Zergs

    -hydralisk den: allows the evolution of hydralisks

    -spire: allows the evolution of mutalisks

    -defiler mound: allows the evolution of defilers

    -queen's nest: allows the evolution of queens and is the place where you create the Queen of Blades

    -ultralisk cavern: allows the evolution of ultralisks

    additional notes:

    -Zergs doesnt feel hunger but they need to eat in order to regen their health

    -depending on the size they can live inside houses or outside, but anyone can create large structures.

    -as a hive is a really big place, you could say that its like a pseudo biome

    -i have yet to guess how you create Nydus Worms, Leviathans and Overlords....

    new resources:

    -Blue Crystal Ore: this ore allows Drones to create their buildings and serves as food too. players can also use it for creating new tools and armor which have almost the same durability as diamond. they can be found in both small patches and large chunks in the surface. this crystals heal 5 hearts

    -Rich Crystal Ore: this ore is only found in the lowest layers of the ground near lava, obsidian and diamonds. this ore can only be extracted with diamond tools or via Nydus Worms. they have the are the equivalent to obsidian tools. and are a food for high rank Zergs, but low rank can feed with them too, these crystals can heal 10 hearts

    -Vespene Ore: Vespene is a gas but under pressure and low temperature it can be found as a block. Vespene ore can be found in Snow biomes as a rare ore.

    -Vespene Oil: as Vespene gets to hotter temperatures it transform to a liquid state, Vespene Oil is found in deserts regularly, and acts like lava too. if enter in contact with water it will produce Vespene Ore. due its behavior Extractors adapted to Extract the oil instead of the gas. but players can create pipes from extractors in order to transport it to other places.

    -Vespene Gas: Vespene gas cannot be obtained normaly in Minecraftia, so it needs to be processed, Extractors are mode for this and produce Vespene gas from Vespene Oil. but players can also smelt Vespene ore and buckets with Vespene processers, the processer is similar to Furnaces but haves a slot for putting Vespene containers. Vespene containers are made from Crystal Ore the same way as Buckets.

    Vespene Gas is needed for creating high rank Zergs and flying zergs. also can be used as a light source when combined with new blocks im gonna post

    about the "Creep" and the "Swarm Block"

    -Swarm Block it's equivalent to Micellium or Grass. so it can spread to dirty blocks. the block is formed by two things, Dirt and "Creep"

    -Creep can be extracted with a shovel the same way as snow and can be used to create Creep block which is the same block that Zerg buildings use. so its a constructive material.

    -"Swarm blocks" cannot spread to other blocks, so you can create "Swarm Islands" in order to not change the whole environment

    -"Swarm Blocks" cannot spread a to other blocks separated by lava or water.

    -they're invulnerable to fire or lava

    -Drones only can evolve to Sructures in "Swarmland", so you need to spread it in some places, for example in deserts if you want to create Extractors.

    craftables:

    players will have to find new ways to fight this new mobs, so you'll be able to craft new items with the new resources:

    1. common minecraft craftables:

    -Tools: as Crystal Ore has been discovered, you can make tools with it, there are 2 types of crystal ore so you'll have 2 tiers of tools at your hand. they can be crafted the same way as the other tools you know.

    -armor: Crystal Armor is like to wear obsidian, its more harder than diamonds so you can expect to stay overpowered to other mobs like Creepers or Endermen, but this is the equivalent to Diamond when facing to Zergs.

    2. Zerg craftables: Creep as crafting material

    players which have tamed some zergs will discover that Creep can be used not only as a building material for doing nice "Living" houses. but also can be used to create several Zerg-like objects. Creep Blocks haves the same uses as wood or other construction blocks so expect to have "Creep Slabs" "Creep Stair", also there are some other items:

    -Processor: the processor is the Zerg Equivalent to a Furnace, once its fed with coal or another flamable material can smelt ores and other things, also it haves an slot for creating Vespene Gas.

    -Water keeper: This strange object acts as a cauldron, but once you fill it, will have an infinite source of water.

    -Creep Vein: this pipes are used by Extractors as a transport for Vespene Oil, you can craft it too and use it for transporting not only oil but water and even lava. it needs a bump

    -Pump: this strange device is like a heart which uses the pipes as veins, its the thing that keeps liquids flowing througth the pipes and send them to different destinations.

    -Iluminator: this strange thing is made of two items, its created in a similar way than the Processor or a Furnace, but putting a torch in the empty slot. this thing iluminates equal to Glowstone blocks

    -Xenobone: the equivalent to wooden sticks, it can be used to create Xenobone Fences, Fencegates and ladders. also used for Xenotools

    -Xenotools: Xenobone with Crystal creates powerfull living tools, these have the same durabilita than norma Crystal ore Tools but look more biological

    -Xenoarmor: if you wanted to feel hows to be a Zerg this is your chance, Xenoarmor is made of Exoskeleton, Exoskeleton is made whe you smelt Creep in a Processor. it evolves into a hardened material with the same resistance as Crystal Ore Armor in its second tier.

    -Exoskeleton: this processed material is a derivation of Creep, really hard and resistant can be used to cover the creep from attacks, no explosive nor acid can penetrate it.

    new idea: adding guns to the situation.

    bows arent usefull for the task of killing Zerg, so players will have to invent a new way to kill flying mobs and ranged mobs. then there comes the idea of the gun. guns can be made from iron to crystal ore and there's even biological and psyonic ones, so players can enjoy several ways of shooting.

    ore based guns:

    they are crafted like this:

    you can make Iron guns, Gold Guns, Diamond Guns, Crystal ore Guns and Rich Crystal Ore guns

    this guns need bullets, which are made again from ores fused with gunpowder in the following scheme:

    where O = ore and G is gunpowder

    each bullet suits to each gun. and each schematic gives you 16 bullets per craft.

    biological guns (AKA SPitters):

    for those familiar with the WH40K series you'll know that Tyranids have biological guns, this is similar.

    Spitters are an strange strain of Creep derived weapon. Spitters are created the same as ore guns but with a twist, instead of Wooden Sticks you use Xenobone, this and the ore used will create a biogun which shoots its own projectiles. there's iron spitters, gold spitters, diamond spitters, crystal ore spitters AND Xenospitters (replace high ore).

    spitters require redstone in its fabrication like this:

    O = ore ingot X = Xenobone and R = redstone powder

    Psionic guns: coming soon

    both type of guns have the same powers but the difference is in materials and ammo.

    1. add Terran as new mobs with their buildings and mechanical units

    2. add Protoss as neutral race with their own blocks and craftables, which can be befriend.

    the seed is: 1122870946822355046

    the northern half of the map is a mix of: Taiga, Plains and Forest in the west; Desert and Swamp at the east

    the southern half: its almost snow biome with some patches of taiga. also theres a large river which flows at the middle of the map and haves and space where Desert, Tundra and Swamp collide.

    near there you'll find an underwater dungeon. its in a part with strange rocky pillars.

    industrialcraftt doesnt appeal to me, Buildcraft looks interesting but i dont know, it focuses in many things also. i was thinking in a mod which focuses only in this and allows to craft new things like Tanker Boats, platforms and that stuff.

    im a bit inspired by Warcraft II...

    well i dont know if this idea has been added before, but the idea is to make Ocean Biomes and Desert biomes more interesting with the addition of this Fossil combustible.

    Oil haves this properties:

    -as is liquid have the same flowing properties as water or lava, but haves two side effects, when it founds lava it burns, when it founds water it replaces some water blocks with more oil (so be careful with both)

    -you can fill buckets with oil but it would be better to create an extractor.

    -oil sources can be found as tar pools in Deserts or under a layer of sand underwater. some black bubles come from the sand so you know theres oil there, but be warned because once you break it the oil flows and covers the area.

    -like lava it can be mortal, not because it burns but you cant breath in it.

    -oil can be processed in several other elements, some can create lightsources with better ilumination than torches, you can make oil lamps with them. there could be a new powered minecart too

    well thats what i have. i think its a good idea
