I know others with very recent macs (this year), and the appearance is normal on those machines.

The computer is about 4 or 5 years old. Another strange thing I forgot to mention was a strange red tint to everything. The menu and the world has a slightly red tint. The brown earth color in the Alpha menu is instead red.

go to your options menu and make sure 3d anaglyph is off.

I went back and made sure 3d anaglyph was off, however the problem remained.

I have a Mac OS X with a Dual 2.5 Ghz PowerPC G5 processor, 2 CPUs, and ATI Radeon 9600 XT graphics card. Whenever I play Alpha either from the download or browser, The blocks just beneath the surface are transparent, revealing other islands and lava far below. Sometimes the blocks on the surface are transparent, too. At night, only two sides and the tops of any blocks have color at all. This fact makes it very hard to explore anywhere, and mine much at all. Does anyone know what this strangely rendered world is caused by? It stays this way when fully loaded.
