Hey, um... guys? Could I mebbe get some tips on building? I really want to make my own Jurassic Park/World sort of place and put all the new dinosaurs in it as the mod progresses, but... I'm kind of unoriginal. I suck at building. My, "paddocks," are all just giant squares. I literally have no sense of creativity. And worst of all, I have no idea where to start, either. Paths? Visitor Centre? Mosasaur Exhibit? I've been trying to start with the Mosasaur Exhibit, since it's like somewhere i'd like to have straight at the front, but I have no way of starting or anything... I'm completely screwed when it comes to creativity. Are there any tips you can give me on how to build on rough terrain, what maps to use, how to smooth out land, how to NOT BE CREATIVELY RETARDED? I've tried inspiration, music, hell, I sat there thinking of ideas for a half an hour and couldn't come up with jack squat, and i'm really sad because although the mod's great, I can't release the dinosaurs in the wild, since for whatever reason they don't attack me, so the only thing to really give them that DINOSAUR effect is... well, caging them up. I would feel bad if they weren't in a video game, lol. But anyways, i'm terrible with creativity...
My MAIN problems are:
No idea where to start.
Can't figure out how to build around rough terrain.
Can't find a good map.
"Paddocks," look like giant squares.
I don't even know how to create the size of a paddock, for god's sake. I want to make it big and spacious, and that looks cool from the INSIDE, but on the outside it seems so large and bulky. But if I make it smaller, it seems so cooped up inside, but so perfect outside. I can't find balance!

try these:
1. Squares are love, Squares are life: if you think squares are bad and uncreative then you're an idiot (no offense) squares the the best option for a paddock.
2. Add some nature: you must add trees, bushes,etc, and try to change the biome, for example try to change the grass to sand,or podzol
3(optional).Use the glass: use the glass instead of iron bars or fences, or you can choose all three together. the choice is yours
4(optional).Add piston doors: the game crashes when i use pistons, that's why i'm not using them right now
as for the flat ground then you have two options:
1.try too much tnt mod, it has flat tnt, which makes the ground flat in a shape of circle(you don't have to worry about the circle, but make sure it's far from any important builds or paddocks, because it's going to destroy the blocks, it's not going to kill you, but it will destroy blocks, and the drops won't appear at all)
2.make the ground yourself, place blocks and break the unnecessary ones.
What were you doing with tnt anyway with that much you could create a landscape and fix it a little then you could have your own small paddock.

well, i didn't know what the TNT was capable of, since the mod got updated to 1.8 recently (i think), and it added some new explosives, and this was one of them. and if you think that the apatosaurus is a tank, then try to compare it to a vanilla minecraft sheep

i tried a TNT in too much TNT mod, and i spawned the apatosaurus before trying the explosive, then BOOOOM everything is destroyed, except for this guy, he's just chillin around right now (much like fallout 3 with dinosaurs)
I didn't expect it to be... But I meant as an eventuality. If I SOMEHOW became good at this, would I be able to contribute in some way, or...?
I think i'll just back away from this question slowly, I don't have the determination to stick with this xD
well, you must show them a good model, not just "hey i'm a modeler, i wan't to be in the team", anyway the choice isn't mine, you must ask them, because they may have enough team members already
Can you guys answer me a question? If I were to somehow spend time on Tabula and learn to model, could I somehow contribute to the mod without a professional degree? I've always wanted to animate or do computer modeling, but I always seem to shirk it since it's so difficult. This seems... rather simple. Entry-level. But anyways, if I DID figure it out, could I submit? Without credit, without anything, i'd just like to be able to contribute a bit since you've given us so much. God, I sound snobbish...
Well that's true. A chicken sized feathered velociraptor is a lot less scary. In fact the velociraptors in the Jurassic park franchise are not really velociraptors. They were based on a bigger raptor called Deinonychus
