I am curious as to how the multiplayer of Fortresscraft will work considering communications (No typing so it will have to be voice communication) as well as this: Will there be dedicated servers?

I'm assuming that communications will be via Xbox Live parties. It's either that, or no communication at all, so I'm really betting on XBLPs.

As for dedicated servers, no idea. I'm thinking that it will either be one person starts up the world, then people join in--like running a server off your computer on MC.

... What? About communications... No game relies solely when it comes to communications on only xbox live parties. Every game has a public chat if it has a multiplayer.

Oh, true. No idea why I totally forgot about that. Still, from what I understand (unless there has been info mentioned elsewhere that I haven't read), there isn't a way for people to join random worlds--it's your world, and then you invite your friends. Again, I'm not 100% sure, but I haven't read info stating otherwise.

Hey! You know what, I should bang you with Lenin's arm for insulting me. (Yeah, he's still in his physical form... at least I think. Don't correct me.)

Glad to know that you actually know that Lenin is still chillin' out in his mausoleum in Red Square.

Sorry for "insulting" you; ignorance annoys me.

I can't say for sure, because I haven't tried Fortresscraft.

And also, Fortresscraft isn't a ripoff. Sure, it looks like minecraft and acts like minecraft, but as far as i know, Notch hasn't patented the god damn genre, has he? It's an open world sandbox game with block physics, and well, i don't remember him saying that it belongs to him. So calling Fortresscraft a ripoff is like saying Pepsi is a ripoff off Coca Cola.

That's true, but the parallels between the two show a clear indication that the Fortresscraft creator(s?) played Minecraft, and ported that idea to XBLA (or rather, are working on porting it to XBLA). I was just under the assumption that IP rights would prevent someone from doing that, but maybe not.

The only differences that I've found between FC and MC is that FC's reach (how far away you can place blocks) is farther, and the cursor lights up the box it's highlighting.

Plus, Russia is no longer socialist, so you can't worry about Russia.
However, Cuba is still socialist, so raise an American flag there, and DON'T blow it up until 2012.
P.S. No existing country in the history of the modern world was ever communist; those who said that they embraced communism actually embraced socialism.

Lawdy, let's gather youse chilluns 'round fo' uh lil' histury lezzon.

    1. Russia is still semi-socialist. Do a little research and you'll see that, but clearly you know too much to have to search the internet for basic information.
    2. Hey, you're right about that--Cuba IS still socialist!--economically. But, they have a communist government, in case you weren't aware. However, since they didn't say that, I'll let you off on that.
    3. Uh, yes, there are communist countries currently, and have been in the past. Cuba, USSR, North Korea, China, just to name a few. Communism is the political application of socialism, whereas socialism is simply an economic policy.

But you know too much to look into these basic things, so I doubt you'll even acknowledge that you're wrong.

Fortresscraft is a direct rip of Minecraft. If I were Notch, I'd be suing the crap out of him right now. :SSSS:

How big is this file in MB?

P.S. I have BIG plans for California...

    Uncompressed: 3.5GB, compressed: 350MB.
Before the new save format it was over 1,000,000 files. Now its 968.

So, it's in the compressed version upon download? It had better be, because I don't want to run up my Internet bill...

The download is indeed compressed; it's a zipped archive. You'll need WinRAR or 7zip to extract it as usual.

Yes, but then if I decide to play on my world, wouldn't the mods be on it? And if something later on down the road were to happen that made any of the mods bork up, wouldn't that mess up the world too?

Bah, I suppose I'm worrying over this needlessly. I was hoping to be able to keep vanilla MC separate from modded MC, but I guess I can't.

    This could be locked/deleted now.

Alright, well, I don't know how to explain this exactly, but I'll do my best.

Currently, I'm running vanilla SP+SMP. I want to try out some mods, however I'm worried that an update might corrupt a world somehow and then I'm all like :SSSS:. So, what I'm interested in doing is creating two separate game files--one for vanilla SP+SMP and my current stuff, and another to try out mods that will be less for putting a lot of time into and more for just messing around with interesting mods. Is this possible?
