posted a message on The Expedition - a game about exploring and building

Hey all! I'm not sure if this is against the rules or this counts as spamming, so if so, I apologize in advance. Anyway, I'm a huge Minecraft fan, and over the last year I've been developing a game that takes a lot of inspiration from Minecraft, without being just a clone. I figured you all might be interested. I've got a blog here: https://everfar.wordpress.com/ about the ongoing development of the game. The Kickstarter's still a few months away and there's not a public demo yet, but I'm interested in what other Minecraft players think of what is done so far. Give me some opinions!

Maybe the miner should default to replacing with cobblestone and have its own infinite supply, to avoid people doing what bluehasia mentioned.

In the modpack Resonant Rise, this mod causes something like 90% of zombies and skeletons to spawn with Mekanism armor and weapons. Is this intentional? If so, can you please add a config option to turn this off? Zombies and skeletons with armor are supposed to be rare; with this mod almost all of them run around in full glowstone plate in broad daylight with swords that can one-shot new players.

    Edit: Fixed my initial problem.

New problem! I have a locomotive pulling a storage cart. How can I set up an item loader or something similar to put charcoal into the locomotive but not into the storage cart?

You are missing the point - your rights to reverse engineer, including decompiling, can't be taken away just because a copyright holder says you can't.

Actually, that's exactly what the DMCA does.

The new door sound annoys me. It's very high pitched and it makes me jump every time I hear it. There's also some annoying flange/phase effect on it that seems to happen more often as you open more doors.

The new version works much better; thanks Arrrg!

One more thing I noticed though: the new humans in Humans+ don't work with their alignments correctly. Several people in the Humans+ thread are reporting the same thing. Knights and others are always hostile and will rampage around attacking the player and killing everyone in Millenaire villages. Some others like Rogues that are supposed to be hostile instead only attack critters. I'm going to disable it until they release a fix.

I'm also getting the black screen failure as soon as it loads. Installing IDResolver on top of AMCO like Jinxy recommended fixed it. Arrg, are you sure you're starting with a completely clean minecraft folder? :wink.gif:

I'm also seeing a few other issues... Starting Inventory doesn't seem to be working, since I don't start with the crafting books. Millenaire reports an error when I start a new world, something about not being able to find all of its files. Maybe that was caused by installing IDResolver on top of it.

I'm still on Rev3 but will update to 3B tonight. But I was also seeing random crashes suddenly, and it might be related to Copper/Tin. I was melting copper ore in the furnace while walking around outside and it would crash. I'm not sure if it's the copper or if there's some random creature trying to load out there that's causing the crash, but I'll see if I can repro it.

Nice mod! I just wanted to report a few bugs as well:

    - If you put most blocks into the recipe book (dirt, cobblestone, etc) and keep scrolling til you get to the sloped blocks, if you move the mouse over some of them it crashes the game. Must be failing to find the name for the tooltip.

    - Disabling Somnia in modloader.config doesn't work; when you try to sleep it still pops up the window and when you press OK it crashes the game. I had to overwrite my ve.class file with the original to get rid of Somnia.

    - Treecapitator doesn't work on the new fruit trees. And Treecapitator does work on many of your ruins, where it probably shouldn't. For example, that big stone tower with the spiral wooden stair blocks around it... I chopped one block near the bottom and the whole thing fell apart.

    - Hunger doesn't seem to have the display with bars and icons it's supposed to. It just has a buggy red skull that comes on at strange times with no way to tell what is affecting you (Hunger, thirst, or fatigue).

    - This new version is very laggy compared to the last version, I get stalls and stutters every few seconds. I'm not sure which mod is causing it but it would be nice to figure it out so I could disable it.

Also, these aren't bugs but suggestions: Somnia is a little annoying since it makes sleeping in a bed can take a minute or two of watching a progress bar even on fast computers, especially with all these other mods going on in the background. It will also make you die if you also have Hunger running (which is the default), I think it might also stop you from regaining Fatigue in Hunger mod because you're not actually resting when the Somnia script is running.

I think Hunger mod should either be disabled by default, have its speed dialed way back, or at least have the hunger UI bug fixed and some kind of pop up explanation of what's going on. By default now, if you start the game and go digging for ten minutes, you die of starvation and thirst, and it's not clear why or how to do anything about it. (You need to press Shift while standing in water). It should take much longer than ten minutes to start dying of starvation or thirst.

Every time I've seen a pirate ship it was on fire and mostly destroyed by the time I could swim out to it; I think this probably isn't on purpose. Maybe the zombies being set on fire in the sun cause the ship to catch fire?
