    Personally I'd prefer it this was either a:
    1.Key that can be used on any door to create a temporary portal to the dimension bound to the key (or player) and it exits him trough the door he entered trough (or a random nearby door if it was destroyed). You could also use the key on a door and let other people enter your dimension. Crafting recepy could be a Lever surounded by 4 rift signatures and 4 Fabric of reality.
    2. A special door with a rift embeded inside of it, so it retains the link to the same dimension even if broken (kind of like the doors in Monsters INC). Crafting recepy could be 2 Dim doors and a Rift signature.

    Yes! I want both of these so bad. Something else that'd be nice is if we could get some retro-gen, so rifts can be added to preexisting worlds.

    I am so glad people are considering picking this up again, this is my favorite mod.

    As for multimc I dunno exactly how it works. It allows me to have multiple instances, with different sets of mods, or different versions altogether.

    Out of curiosity, why do you use an installer?

    Well, I launched the item, and I tried to set a Multimc instance as the directory, and it said "The directory is missing a launcher file" which makes sense since multimc seems to use it's own form of launcher, or something I don't know, When that didn't work, I noticed the "Extract" option and assumed that would work, that was when the first edit happened.I extracted it to my desktop, and dragged the file it produced into the mods folder in the previously mentioned multimc instance. That did not work either(gives me a crash on after the mojang screen) and thats when the second one happened.

    I can provide a link to the error log if you need one.

    My idea is a special door that you put in your base and when you place it you get an item (like a key) - that door leads to nowhere and can be used as a regular door. However when you right click on any other (non-dimensional) door in the world with the key you received that door will open up to the door in your base - and once you close it the connection between the doors is lost forever (so you can use the key again on other doors).

    Reminds me of a mini series on the Sci-fi Channel, The lost room, where upon this guy stumbled upon a key, that, when he unlocked any door with it, it led him to a mysterious room. The neatest part was that he could when he left this room, he could essentially teleport to any door he knew of. I would love to see something similar implemented, heck I think it'd be a really cool way to do a portable dimension.

    That said, it's already possible to "carry" your house around with you using a Stabilized Rift Signature. I've used one very effectively to explore Mystcraft ages. I have the main door in my house, and I can create rifts that connect there with the SRS. Just attach a door and I can go home immediately, as well as return to the last place I was at my convenience. In fact, I only use that approach, so I have no idea how people teleport to the Overworld or to other places with Mystcraft books. I've never learned how to do that. o_o

    I can't wait for these portable dimensions to be a thing, and I really hope it's more interesting than a simple item right click to get there.
    I quite like the idea of placing a bag or chest down, hopping into it, doing stuff, then climbing back out.

    I dunno, I'm not too fond of leaving behind a rift every time I go in my house, that's just me I suppose.

    Also, has anyone used this on a large server? Like 100 people on at a time large? Just wondering if this mod has any significant impact on such a server.

    So lets consider the issues that will arise in a typical modded SMP server.

    First: What happens if you leave in a different location? Anything from a mystcraft linking book / warp book / limbo travel / rift gate to a dungeon pocket / etc.

    Second: Can someone else enter the pocket as well? Does the door stay behind when you enter / does it become semi-permanent?

    Third: If someone else is inside, and you pick up the exit door from the outside, what happens to them? If there are multiple sub-pockets (remember, a single pocket can have many sub-pockets, each of which can have a sub-pocket ... it can go pretty deep, pretty quickly, and never needs more than a 3x3 chunkloader ...), you might not even know that someone else is inside the chain, especially if there's a warp into that pocket from somewhere else.

    That's all I can think of right away.



    Woah that sounds amazing, and also difficult to code. I hope I'm wrong and you got it exactly right. Because that sounds amazing.

    Thanks, that did fix that problem, then I got "could not create the java virtual machine" and after a simple google search I fixed that also. I can actually play minecraft again : D


    Perhaps I spoke to soon... It seems now it's specifically Multimc acting up. I fixed the "could not create the java virtual machine" by
    Going to Advanced Systems Properties
    Then Environment Variables
    In System Variables, click Add
    New Variable Name: _JAVA_OPTIONS
    New Variable Value: -Xmx512M

    And that made Ftb work, but when I tried Multimc it gave me
    MultiMC version: 0.2.1

    Minecraft folder is:
    C:/Users/Myusername/Desktop/My folders/MultiMC/instances/FTB Unintelligable 1.6.4 1.2/minecraft

    Java path is:
    C:/Program Files (x86)/Java/jre7/bin/java.exe

    Java Arguments:
    [-XX:HeapDumpPath=MojangTricksIntelDriversForPerformance_javaw.exe_minecraft.exe.heapdump, -Xms2048m, -Xmx2048m, -XX:PermSize=256m, -jar, C:/Users/Myusername/Desktop/My folders/MultiMC/jars/NewLaunch.jar]

    Error occurred during initialization of VM
    Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xmx512M
    Incompatible minimum and maximum heap sizes specified

    So I whenever I try and launch an instance, I get "Java binary doesn't work. Check the settings and correct the problem" Trouble is, I don't have any clue what the problem is. I looked around a bit for a solution but the best I got was "Uninstall java, reinstall restart." and that did bugger all. Any help would be appreciated.
