CyborgDragon posted a message on [TOOL] Cyborg's Tools - MCNostalgia 1.0.4See here for MCNostalgia 2.0, sonicrules1234 is taking over for now, perhaps indefinitely. I'm tired of Minecraft, and will see you all again in a few months when I grow bored due to the lack of new games. Thank you, all.Posted in: Minecraft Tools
I am not responsible for any damage you do to your computer using these tools. If you don't trust them, you can look through their code yourself, just open them up in a text editor.
Cyborg, how can I best contact you?
On Esper.net IRC, in the channel #risucraft
MCNostalgia v1.0.4MCNostalgia is a tool that takes binary difference patches and applies them to the latest version of Minecraft, essentially reverting it to an older version, without ever distributing any .jar files illegally. Binary difference patches are made by taking the differences between two files, one is the source/old file (in this case the latest version of Minecraft), the other is the output/new file (in this case an older version of Minecraft). To patch the files, MCNostalgia requires Minecraft to be unmodified, that means no imported textures even.
2.0 is a complete rewrite being co-produced with sonicrules1234
Installation - Heads up, this is really really simple, for both Windows users and Mac users, got it?
Windows Users
- Download the 'Windows' version of MCNostalgia and the patches. If you really want to use the python form instead, download the 'Other' version and make sure you have python installed.
- Extract the archive to any folder.
- Run MCNostalgia, it should enter Configurator mode.
- Choose which options you would like enabled, if you want it to work with different directories than the default ones, you will have to modify the config yourself. It is recommended that you leave errors and logging enabled. Close MCNostalgia and run it again.
- Install Python 2.7.X (NOT 3.X.X) if you don't have it already.
- Download the 'Other' version of MCNostalgia and the patches.
- Extract the archive to any folder.
- Run MCNostalgia, if it doesn't run from a double click, try running it via terminal or a shell script with the command "python MCNostalgia.py", it should enter Configurator mode.
- Install bspatch if you don't have it already, using "sudo apt-get install bsdiff" (or something similar, it differs between flavors)
- Download the 'Other' version of MCNostalgia and the patches.
- Extract the archive to any folder.
- Run MCNostalgia, if it doesn't run from a double click, try running it via terminal or a shell script with the command "python MCNostalgia.py", it should enter Configurator mode.
- Choose which options you would like enabled, if you want it to work with different directories than the default ones, you will have to modify the config yourself. It is recommended that you leave errors and logging enabled. Close MCNostalgia and run it again.
MCNostalgia also hopefully supports SunOS/Solaris and other Unix systems, to match Minecraft. However, I am in no way positive if python or bspatch supports your OS, nor if this tool will even work. It probably will, so long as python does, but I'm not sure. For the most part, it should follow the Linux instructions.
Usage
Patching - Since so many people are having brainfarts, this is what you use to go back to previous versions.
- Choose a version in the patches and copy all the ptch files as well as the checksum file into the bin folder where you extracted MCNostalgia to. The files, not the folders.
- Run MCNostalgia
- Choose Patcher
- Play Minecraft!
- Run MCNostalgia
- Choose UnPatcher
- Play Minecraft!
- Run MCNostalgia
- Choose Configurator, this will run the Configurator again for you to configure the settings again.
So you want to have this tool, for example, patch minecraft that's not in your application data? Well, crack open MCNostalgia.ini and let's take a peek.
appdata = blahblahblah - This line points to where minecraft.jar, lwjgl.jar, lwjgl_util.jar, and jinput.jar are
bin = blahblahblah - This line points to where the backup and logs will be saved, and where the .ptch files should be
As a reminder, I am not responsible for anything you break by altering these settings.
History
1.0.4 26/09/2011 - Fixed issue with people using single quotation marks in folder names.
1.0.3, 19/09/2011 - Added line telling people where to put their patch files if MCN can't find them. Added versions to checksums. Added timestamps to logs. Individual patches are now zipped individually, so you no longer have to download five files for one version. Logs are now saved constantly, instead of when program is closed (because that didn't always work).
1.0.2, 29/05/2011 - Now catches all errors, rather than just where they were likely. Errors should now print line number as well. Fixed issues with macs. If the back up already exists, it will try to back up again anyways, to ensure it has the files to patch. MCNostalgia will now close after running the Configurator; this is to prevent the issue where the other options stop working after the Configurator is run.
1.0.1, 29/05/2011 - Improved OS detection. Checksum file is now read when you start patching instead of only when you start up MCNostalgia, so you can hot swap the patches and checksum file while MCNostalgia is running. MCNostalgia no longer quits upon starting if there is no checksum file in the bin folder. Included msvcr90.dll for those of you who don't have it.
1.0, 28/05/2011 - Partial rewrite. Fixed issues with macs and linux(hopefully). Added checksums. Got rid of alerts as they were only used in two places. Added exe version for Windows so they don't have to get python. You will have to redownload patches for this version, as each set of patches now include a checksum file.
0.7, 25/12/2010 - Minor fixes, patches are in a separate download now so that they may be updated without having to redownload the tool itself
0.6, 24/12/2010 - Removed two debug prints, added checks for missing ini/ini options
0.5, 24/12/2010 - Python implemented, more idiot proofing
0.2, 22/12/2010 - First public release, minor improvements to batch scripts
0.1, 21/12/2010 - Test release

Legality
A lot of people question the legality of this. Well, it is not directly redistributing the minecraft jar files. It is the differences between the latest jar files and older versions. The difference("patch") files will not work without the files that need to be patched, in this case, the latest version of Minecraft. They will not work with anything else. Now, this clears it of one part of the forum rules, but not the illegality. Well, to clear that up, I've contacted Mojang multiple times, and they have been made aware of it at least twice, their response wasn't much, but I take it as a "do what you will." If they ask me to take it down in the future, I will.

Stucuk posted a message on Minecraft Screensaver
Minecraft Info's Screensaver project was started around October 2010 and first released on the 20th of October 2010. The goal has always been to provide a screensaver with as much customisability as possible.
Feedback and Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
- 6 Screensaver Modes (7 Including "Random Mode")
- Does not require Minecraft to be Installed
- Supports Texture Packs
- Supports Custom Minecraft Fonts
- Supports Custom Backgrounds
- High level of customisability
- Ability to play Minecraft's Music
The Screensaver needs to be placed in Windows\ or Windows\System32\ folder for it to show up. If you download the version which includes an installer then it will appear in the Add/Remove Programs bit of windows.

My relative gave me help when I started, and I waited until I could play until I joined a multiplayer server.
That doesn't change the fact that you were a noob.
Plus I do all my forums on my phone so I had to add a pe pic. You can't get a skin on pe.
Yes you can. Through jailbreaking or iExplorer.
I hate noobs, yes, but my mate is one so that's the only noob I like.
So aren't you kinda contradicting yourself then?
I practised on peaceful for my first few days. Got to a village near spawn.
What does this have to do with anything?

04Leonhardt posted a message on More Populous And Developed Villages (Or: THE CITY, OF TOWNSVILLE)Let's get straight to the point, here.Posted in: Suggestions
This suggestion involves a lot of stuff, so strap in.
(inb4 "WISHLIST THREAD!")
More Populous VillagesOr: THE CITY, OF TOWNSVILLE
What it is:
An increase to the average size of villages, with a few additional structures and mobs to go with it.
OR
Add as a New Biome, "Town" which would generate over Plains or Desert Biomes.
The new Biome would then either be called "Desert Town" or "Plains Town".
There could also be a "Tundra Town" or a "Swamp Town"
What it would do:
Obviously, increase the average size of villages, as well as add Walls, Gates, Towers, Guards, Guard Dogs, and Cobble Golems.
Structures:Walls would be 3 block high Wood/Cobblestone/Stone Brick fortifications built around the outside of the Village, with special Gates on at least one side. The population of a village determines the material the wall is built out of, as well as its design. Wood walls are simple, 3-block high walls; Cobble walls have a lip to keep spiders out; And Stone Brick walls are a bit more intricate, with battlements and fortifications.Wall types
Notice the nicer looking Stone Brick with columns and torches
Gates would be decorative, double wooden door entry ways to the walled-off Village.
Gate Types
Towers would be tall, defensive structures like the Cobblestone castles in standard villages, but would house Guards. Around Towers would be sort of "Training Grounds" with monster head targets on fence posts for Guards to shoot at or attack.
Watch Tower w/ Training Area
Mobs:Guards: Human defenders of Towns. They live in Guard Towers, and patrol the city, fighting off monsters. They are either equipped with an Iron Sword, or a Bow, effectively becoming helpful versions of Zombies and Skeletons. They are passive unless attacked, or they see you attacking a Villager, Guard Dog, other Guard or Golem. Guards harbor an almost insane tenacity for protecting their villages, and will charge and attack any mob, aside from Creepers and Endermen. Bow Guards will shoot Creepers if they are at a safe distance. They normally drop Cooked Porkchop or Bread, but will rarely drop Chainmail armor, Iron Swords or Bows.
Guard Dog: Canine companions to the Guards, act as battle support mobs, in the same way Wolves/Dogs help the player. Passive unless attacked, or sees you attacking a Guard, Guard Dog, Golem or Villager. Unlike Guards, they will attack Endermen. Similar to regular Wolves, only with a Brown/Black color scheme, like a German Shepard. Guard Dogs only spawn in villages large enough for Guards, and require 3 Guards to Spawn.
Cobblestone Golem: Slightly smaller versions of the Iron Golem, used as heavy battle support mobs by the Village Guards. They can punch monsters, or hurl Rocks at them to deal ranged damage. Cobble Golems can hurl Rocks much further than the player. They are passive unless provoked, in the same way as a Guard or Guard Dog. They will attack Creepers with a ranged attack when at range, but will flee when they get close. Cobble Golems only spawn in villages large enough for Guards to Spawn, and require at least 8 Guards before spawning. Unlike regular Iron Golems, Cobble Golems are much more serious and don't "play" with the children of the village. Drop 1-3 Cobblestone and 2-4 Rocks when killed.
Items/Blocks/Weapons
Rock: A small, heavy rock that can be thrown to cause light (1 Heart) damage. Is acquired either from killing Cobblestone Golems, or much more easily, from normally mining Stone. Has about 1/12th the frequency to drop from Stone as Flint from Gravel. Has a relatively short range, about 3/4ths the range of a snowball. Great for harassing mobs and early ranged attack ability.
So, let me know what you think, what should be changed/removed/etc. -

Redstone_Fanatic posted a message on Villager Trading Feels... Flawed.Villager trading. It honestly doesn't feel like it works right now. To me, anyways. Feel free to toss in your opinions as to what you think on my opinions, for maximum opinionception.Posted in: Suggestions
(Refer to this to understand the what I'm going to ramble on about)
Issue #1: Villagers can trade you Ender Eyes. Seriously, straight off the bat, what the ****? That tosses what little sense of progression the already flawed and tossed together excuse for an endgame type boss for Minecraft had. Normally, you make your way into the Nether, find a stronghold, find a blaze spawner, kill them for their rods, then kill enough Endermen in the Overworld to get enough eyes to both find the stronghold and then to enter The End where you can take on the boss. Or in this case, one can just trade in wheat from the village for emeralds to buy the eyes and get to the end quick. Not to mention eyes are a common trade, which means it's actually fairly likely you'll have this trade on hand.
Solution #1: Remove the trade. Simple as that. Actually, just to fill the gap, re-add them taking rotten flesh as a trade. Perhaps 10 to 17 Rotten Flesh for an Emerald... yes, that sounds reasonable. Not that we have much other uses for it, besides wolf food. Not that wolves, or cats, are useful right now. Breaking the 4th wall here,has anyone else noticed the really freaking annoying bug where cats or wolves will teleport to you if you're within render distance of them? At random, for no reason. Christ. Useless bastards. FIX IT FFS ;-;
Issue #2, and possibly a bug: When enchanting items, priests ignore the durability of the item, and upon enchanting them, the item is fixed to full. Now, forgive me if it's not a bug, and the stupid testificate that doesn't know the difference between a door and a cactus actually has more enchanting magic than the player does.
Solution #2: If it is a bug, fix it. If not, I would really recommend changing that so it doesn't do that.
Issue #3: You can trade with dead villagers. Deal a killing blow on a villager and quickly right click it. Yep, you are now throwing mass amounts of some worthless junk onto a villager's corpse in order to get emeralds from the villager you just killed, you heartless *******.
Solution #3: Trading GUI is now closed if the villager in question, well, what's the word... DIES?!
Issue #4: Villagers really don't serve their purpose per trading functionality, as of the latest snapshots especially. It just seems like the only reason you'd want to trade with them is A, you want Emeralds, or B, you're low on something or want something that they have. And usually, you're spending a **** ton of time trying to go through emeralds to wade your way through the throes of trades you don't actually need just to get the one you want out of the sucker.
Solution #4: Spoiler'd because of the length. You know 'ole Green Robed Villager? That unused one? Give him every trade besides the enchanting trades, but at a small price. That price being 2 things, actually. 1, trades cost twice as much. 2, you get half as much out of them. (Do note that the trades for paper and arrows have been modified quantity wise in 1.4, the wiki is your friend.) But essentially, take the chart of trades from the spoiler near the top of this page, multiply the quantity of what you're giving by 2, and as for what you're getting out (If it's an actual, stackable item you get more than one of per trade... not something like armor or emeralds.). To explain this in terms of trades, right now, say you have a trade of one emerald for 8 apples. Per this guy, it'd be changed to 2 emeralds for 4 apples, or 1 emerald per 2 apples. Costly? Yes, but if you need, like neeeeed apples for whatever reason, the trade will always be there, and never disappear. These guys would spawn randomly in their own little definable house. Let's call him the Entrepreneur. Also, just as a nod to everyone's favorite little iron killing machines, toss in the trade 1 Emerald ----> 1 Rose.
Issue #5: Glowstone. Yes, this has already been talked about before, but hear me out. Glowstone really just doesn't feel like an adequate trade. I mean, again, these are the derptards that will walk into a cactus. How the flying **** did they make it to the nether and make it out to the precarious spots glowstone are placed on, obtain it, and get the flying **** out alive? Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Same with the villages... they use Black Wool and Torches versus glowstone, so it makes even less sense.
Solution #5: Remove the trade, replace it with a Golden Sword with a random level of Smite, from I to V. Cliche? Maybe. Do I care? Honestly, not really. If they're going to be all holy and such, they might as well properly advertise their line of work through the use of shitty but powerful on the right mobs swords. I was actually rather surprised that priests couldn't put enchants on Gold items. You would think that would be right up their alley. So I guess what we've learned so far is I don't like priests.
Issue #6: Villagers and The Nether/End. As of 1.4, you can now toss villagers into the Nether. Not only do they face less problems than in the Overworld, which actually, let me talk about that for a second. In the Overworld, they have a ****ton of problems. Zombies will bust down their doors, turn them into zombie villagers, and can and will even spawn in ****ing daylight and torchlight in giant zombie sieges. In the Nether, they face zero problems. Zip. Nada. None. Just cushion their ride into the Nether or End and they're set.
Solution #6: Also spoiler'd.Zombie Pigmen are always hostile towards villagers, and spawn in sieges just like in the Overworld. Now, this begs the question, how do you stop them from just plain spawning? They do ignore light levels, after all. So, easy fix? Zombie Pigmen don't spawn in areas lit by Glowstone. But just like Zombies in the Overworld, they'll spawn in sieges. Upon death, they'll be turned into Zombie Pigmen Villagers, and it's possible for them to be changed back just like their overworld brethren. However, after a certain time period, Zombie Pigmen Villagers just turn into regular Zombie Pigmen; forever bound as slaves of the Nether. :3. As for The End, honestly, just allow them to go through, no extra strings attached. The Nether is meant to be more of a hostile environment, and should be as such. Not The End though. It's meant to be no more than a wasteland. To summarize, this fills the void about everyone's favorite ****ing question; where the hell do the Zombie Pigmen get their Gold?
Side Issue somewhat about above issue, and me probably venturing off topic from the main point of this thread, but this is something I really need to rant about. The Nether as it is now... sucks. I mean really, sucks. They came out with this great new Anvil height you can take advantage of in the Overworld and End. In the Nether? You want to know what they ****ing did? They just made it so mobs cannot spawn on bedrock. All that's up on top of the bedrock is just mushrooms and Ghasts. Seriously? That's your idea of a fix? Why not make the most amazing looking dimension take full use of the Anvil height? Like really. First, allow mobs to spawn on bedrock again. I really hated that change, because I know some people with CTM maps that used bedrock laden areas, and that totally ruined it. Second, make the Nether take proper use of the Anvil height. Come on, you know that would be badass. DO EET ;-; And uh also, make Wither Jockeys spawn naturally in the Nether, remove normal skeletons spawning in the Nether, and make Wither Skeletons drop Charcoal instead of Coal. :3
If someone suggests more issues or I remember the 2 that I totally forgot while typing this thing up (I'm a total freaking klutz sometimes) then I'll add more. For now, nom on my thread and blast me with a flamethrower of hate spam criticism. Or, you know, sympathize with my issues and support. One of those. - To post a comment, please login.
