They can't shut down Minecraft. Tons of people buy it and millions of people would hate to see it go. This rumor is completely untrue and whoever started it is the stupidest person on earth. Minecraft will live for at least another 20 years!
Just like Sega never died.
Long live Sonic!!!
Thank god they still make systems and didn't sell out and put Sonic in a Mario game.

However, if they don't want you online or going outside or, as it would appear, then perhaps ask them, "What would you have me do?"

As to how would 8k look... you would see more detail. Thats it. It wouldn't be mind-blowing, just more detail of existing objects and textures at a distance.
As to people not being able to see this detail, it depends on your eyes and the screen. Standard print resolution is 300 lines per inch. I can tell a 300 lpi print from a 150 lpi with no difficulty at arms length, as can many people.
Btw. OP: No reason to be condescending. Knowing more than another person on a subject doesn't excuse acting that way. By virtue of your original question, I can construe that i know much more about digital imahing than you do, however you wont find me being rude about it or treating you like you're stupid.
And to render at a higher resolution than your display, you might have to run or write a plugin, if setting the launcher-based resolution doesn't work. And if that did, you have the issues of trying to do things with a black screen that cant display the input.
Dual screen output, possibly? Just thoughts.

So leave.
Everyone else here is fine with things as they are.

Are you typing in their local LAN address?
Is their computer setup on the network to keep the same IP settings?
Does he connect to his Server software in Multiplayer by a loopback (127.0.0.1) or using the network address (eg 192.168.1.whatever)?
Lots of things to help troubleshoot.
As a side note, if you're not trying to connect over the Internet (outside your home), you don't have to worry about port-forwarding.

Well, that explains my problem..... one of them anyhow.

And don't feel stupid. All these things are works-in-progress. Sometimes even following the directions don't always work (because there are conflicts between plugins sometimes).
Glad to hear you're running fine now.

Many people point to this, but I think that it is rarely the case.
It could be a general incompatibility or a conflict (sometimes). For example with shaders, some work with Nvidia cards better and some with AMD/Radeon better. In some cases, it could be newer "updated" handles and routines (DirectX 9, 10, 11, 11.1). Everything is basically in development stages and coded largely by volunteers (props to them).
Try turning the Multicore feature off, as well as maybe reducing the Chunk difference. Remember as that distance goes up, it affects the system exponentially.
Also, if you have the RAM, try giving the command line option in the Profiles access to more RAM .
EDIT: (default is "-Xmx1G" to give MC 1 gigabyte of RAM. I use " -Xmx6G -Xms3G" on a system to give a Max of 6GB and minimum of 3GB).

Optifine, by itself, can install right out of the .jar file, as I recall.
HOWEVER, if you are using Optifine with Forge, then you need to install Forge FIRST and then DON'T "install" Optifine... put it in a folder called "mods" within the minecraft directory.
If doing the first one (Optifine alone) you will want to use the Optifine Profile.
If using Forge, you use the Forge Profile (recall that the Optifine .jar is in the "mods" folder and will be accessed by Forge).
Of course, to use the numerous shader packs out there, you will generally want Forge installed (with Optifine added in).
I hope this helps. :\

The remarks on the forums that the PS3/Xbox360 "don't have the power" are complete B.S. You swap the information in and out of memory. This practice has been used in games for decades, when floppy drives had larger capacities than the computer's RAM could handle.
The ONLY reason I can think of that the sizes have been nerfed is to keep a cap on Save File size. A 5km radius map is about 2GB on the PC.
Directly on topic: I think they should open up the cap. If I run out of hard drive space. that's my problem. At the very least, put a toggle system in the Options Menu for size with a warning and a note at how big the file sizes could be.

Kids do. Kids love to play as Spiderman.
STEMM_monster: Praise the Sun!
Why would you buy them again? You imply that you already have them. As for the whining.... *yawn*.
And to any and all, the announcements about the Marvel Skin packs all note Microsoft as releasing them (no word of Mojang's or 4J Studios' involvement in them). That being the case, Microsoft is unlikely to publish these skin packs on the PlayStation Network.

MC PS3 Ed doesn't support connecting to servers (at least anything more than using PSN to join a friend's hosted game).
If you're losing items, you could either be not saving the game or one of your friends is taking stuff.
EDIT:
Are you sure you're posting in the right forum? This is for Minecraft Playstation 3 Edition.
http://herocraftonline.com/main/ is for the regular (PC/Mac) game.
And it Herocraftonline.com was your server.... you wouldn't be asking these questions.

Good question, as most servers have a few foul-mouthed players and not all are friendly towards little ones.
I recall one, though I don't remember their name or where they are. I will post when I find it again.
Of course, supervise at all times.
Edit: Try some of these places, though i have not checked them out:
