    posted a message on Hosting modpack server on another computer better?

    Hosting a server on a separate computer from the one you play the game on world improve performance because it would put less stress on the computer you play on since it wouldn't have to put resources towards the game and the server allowing your game to run better on the computer you play on and the server to run better on its computer.

    posted a message on problem when i try to lunch minecraft from eclipse

    To change the compiler you go into Window -> Preference -> Compiler and it should be called Compiler compliance level. The crash you are getting I think has to do with something with you code because your game wouldn't even start if you had the wrong Java version meaning you wouldn't even get a crash report. Can you share your code so I can see if there's anything wrong. Also I didn't say to go to Window -> Preference -> Java -> Installed JREs -> Execution Environments only Window -> Preference -> Java -> Installed JREs.

    Install the latest version of Eclipse which would be 2020 and it should already install a up to date jdk. You then install jdk 8 and jre 8 then in your mod workspace go to Window -> Preference -> Java -> Installed JREs, then add the path to where you have jre 8 installed and have it check so the workspace uses jre 8 and not the one that eclipse installed. Also change compiler to 1.8 if its not already.

    posted a message on No Source Jar For Mod

    When I was building my mod I was wounding why a source jar wasn't made since when I was on Forge 1.12.2-14.23.5.2768 it did create a source jar but now that I'm on Forge 1.12.2-14.23.5.2854 there is no source jar. I looked around and found something saying that it was no longer a feature but that was for 1.14.4. So how do I make a source jar, i didn't change anything in build.gradle besides version, group, and archivesBaseName.

    Java 8 does work on the latest Eclipse but I think Eclipse installs Java 11 or higher as default anyways as long as you have your Java vm as 8 for your mod your fine, to just fix the error "Reference to undefined variable MC_VERSION" you have to go in to the run configuration of your mod and in Environment just change variable MC_VERSION value to the Minecraft version of your mod. The crash you are getting might be something with your code, can you share?

    posted a message on [Solved] How To Create A Bucket For Fluids

    I figured it out, turns out because of how my blocks register my bucket item couldn't get the block making it null and causing it to crash.

    posted a message on [Solved] How To Create A Bucket For Fluids

    So I tried making a custom bucket class and have it extend minecraft's ItemBucket class, when trying this I notice that when placing down my fluids or any of my blocks the game would crash but placing down any of minecraft's fluids or blocks it would work. I found that in the tryPlaceContainedLiquid method that worldIn.setBlockState(posIn, this.containedBlock.getDefaultState(), 11); was crashing my game. I notice that if I override the method and change this.containedBlock.getDefaultState to one of my blocks like BLOCK_EXAMPLE.getDefaultState the bucket would work. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem, I think it has something to do with my blocks but I don't know what.

    I want to add custom buckets for my fluids but I can't figure it out. I would use UniversalBucket but I want my buckets to be in my mod's creative tab and to have custom textures. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

    posted a message on Texture not showing in inventory

    To give the block a different texture in the inventory you have to change the json item file of the block which should be in models/item to look like whats below and have the new texture of the block when it's in the inventory in your item's texture folder(textures/items). The json item file of the block should look like a json for a item.

    before

    {
    "parent": "modID:block/block_example"
    }

    after

    {
    "parent": "item/generated",
    "textures": {
    "layer0": "modID:items/block_example"
    }
    }

    I don't really know about that tutorial since I've see most modders make a block a different way. You could check this youtuber called TechnoVision he used to make tutorial videos for 1.12.2 but he has unlisted them but you could use the link below to watch his block tutorial. If you want to watch more of his unlisted videos you can go to https://archive.org/web/ and get the links for them by searching his channel. Note some of his code is not the best way of doing things and there is a better way but it does work, you could later learn how to update it.

    posted a message on I'm developing a mod and require some assistance.

    Yea Blockbench is really good for making some complex models for entities and such. You can also try MrCrayfish's Model Creator if you are just going to make simple block size models.

    posted a message on Eclipse On Two Computers

    master801 thanks for the tip on symbolic links, now everything works just like how I want it and my Minecraft startup time on my laptop is also now better since I'm only sharing the code and not the whole project. johan2403 although using GitHub would properly also do the same thing, there's just more steps for having to share the code.

    posted a message on Eclipse On Two Computers

    So I want to be able to work on my mods from my desktop and from my laptop, I've tried Eclipse's Git feature with Github and didn't really seem to like and was wondering if there was another way to share my code between my desktop and laptop. What I currently have tried was using a network drive on my desktop then import the project on my laptop from it. It work well and allow me to share my code but the problem is I can't test run Minecraft on my laptop from Eclipse unless if I change MCP_TO_SRG, MOD_CLASSES, and nativesDirectory in environments. I don't want to be always changing these every time I switch to my desktop or laptop. So can I make it so there are two of these one for my desktop and one for my laptop or is there something else I can do?

    posted a message on Gradlew build failed

    Did you look in the ReadMe of the Forge MDK, you should be using "gradlew genEclipseRuns" or "gradlew genIntellijRuns" to setup the workspace files.

    posted a message on can i update a mod from 1.12.2 to 1.16.3 if the original creator hasn't

    For you to update a mod that is not yours you would need the source code from the author of the mod, you would then have to change all the outdated code that doesn't work with 1.16.3 and because of the big gap between 1.12.2 and 1.16.3 it's probably all of the code so it's most likely your making the mod from scratch.
