What happened to the days when people won't mention/talk the same fact that has been mentioned several times a day for two weeks in a row?
Seriously, it was last mentioned, like, last page that the blog was down. And the page before. And the page before that. No matter what people make you think "reading" is NOT overrated. Do it.
Now that the rant is done, on terms of the release, we don't have a date. Does anyone know how many bugs she has left to fix right now? -

Gecko357 posted a message on 12w49a Snapshot Ready for TestingWell it's pretty obvious Mojang either doesn't care one bit about their modding community or they're so disconnected from the modding community it's almost the same thing.. Did there really need to be another update for 3 bloody items??? Unless this bug-fix list is big.. WHY? You couldn't have folded these three items into 1.5???Posted in: Minecraft News
Whatever... I wouldn't want to be around mod makers with this news. -

*tekkit*
. . . um, people here will probably say they don't care. In fact, I don't either. The only thing people care about is why RP was in there in the first place, but let's not get into that again. -

It is so sad to see one of the best mods out there get turned into a not very good mod. my reasons for saying this:
-Removed red matter
-Removed collectors
-Removed energy condensers
-Removed destruction catalyst/hyperkinetic lens
What makes me mad is he removed red matter The tools were great I mean he could've not removed them but made the tools have 1,000,000,000,000 uses (basicaly indestructible but they can still be destroyed.) Without Red Matter we cant have the gem armour. He didn't say removed catalytic lens so is he implying that to, but still I cant get over that. So you stopped working on EE2 but your not publishing the source code that's like the guy who made tale of kingdoms not publishing the source code (he published it, not saying he didn't . I don't think the people at technicpack will actually update it. But they will get rid of EE. Do you really want everyones most favorite mod in tekkit to down the drain. So please do the right thing: publish the source code, so we can have unofficial updates by miscellaneous modders.
If you even mention tekkit here you're hated. -

This... a thousand times this!!
The last few pages have been nothing but people saying we should bend down and kiss the ground Elo walks on, or that she should have had the mod released 4 weeks ago with a pretty bow on top just because they say she should. (Worst part was a mod developer himself just had to jump in and add nothing constructive to what's supposed to be a thread about redpower and its features/uses.)
Now. Again, back on topic, windmills, has there been any mention about them having bonuses to energy output (ie as with IC2 windmills) and in that one picture she has one set up close to her paper mill (?) would it be suffering a negative output?
How was Sengir posting "the worst part?" His post was extremely valid. The only thing that made it pointless was that the people he was trying to explain things to are the type of people who are so childish that they can't understand reason.
His logic was solid, his frustration was warranted, but his post will not fall on the eyes of the target audience, unfortunately. -

Sodisna posted a message on Eloraam's Mods (RedPower 2 Prerelease 6)I like how no one cares if a game company takes 5 years to make a good game yet they raise hell if a indie developer or a modder uses their free time to devlop a mod or game all the while not getting paid.Posted in: Minecraft Mods -

Direwolf20 is basically Eloraam's PR guy.

WTFFFS posted a message on Eloraam's Mods (RedPower 2 Prerelease 6)I think the main problem is more too much communication rather than a lack of communication, the vocal minority can see RP2 being used on Forgecraft sadly what they don't understand is that not everything is shown on camera, including gamebreaking bugs(like I dunno chunk resets due to an oversight, which is one that was seen on camera but I suspect the majority of the crashes\ohhh craps are not shown), not just in RP2 but in all mods, which is what Forgecraft is for I believe (apart from a bunch of devs\youtubers having a blast playing lol)Posted in: Minecraft Mods - To post a comment, please login.

I tend to use ASM as a short to medium term solution. If it's possible for me to do so, I make a Forge PR, and remove my ASM hooks when my PR is accepted.

Ya, not now though, there are only a few of us and a lot to do.

Grab his RP plugin, don't yell at the poor fella.

From what I can observe, you guys seem to be just ripping off the official Modding API (though, we all know that will never happen, that's another rant ). So how can your API differ from Mojang's, Bukkit or Forge?
1
The problem is, if you want to extend something, you need to reference the original code. Hence why IC2 has a published API. Elo would probably have done such a thing, however is is most likely fearful that somebody's addon may interfere with what she plans for the mod.

Well said Sengir.
Note that from this point onwards, the views expressed are mine and solely MINE. I do not know the real reason of Forgecraft's existence, so don't ask me.
Such a shame though, that Forgecraft is being misused, for want of a better word.
What I see Forgecraft as, is as a test-bed for the newer mods (EE3, TC3, RP2) to iron out bugs and test out ideas. However, as I say, common sense can be said to be a superpower on the internet. Many people lack it.
Forgecraft was opened to streamers and youtubers (Direwolf/Slowpoke/Florastar/etc.) so that they could help to get the word out about the new features in the mods. However, I see this as being looked upon wrongly by the general Minecraft modding public. The public, being the 10 year old kids they are, whom are used to instant gratification, will go "W3 wan redPowa NAO!" (pun intended). They see the new features, and are jealous, so to speak, of the Forgecraft members. As Redpower has proven to be quite a major component of Minecraft modding, and some of us are not as gifted in vanilla redstone (props to Eloraam for that), sometimes we are often stuck knowing what to do in such a time that Redpower has not been released. So yeah, whiny babies being whiny babies, they often decide to be lazy and instead of looking for alternatives (BC/IC/UE), they decide to bash on Eloraam's door asking for updates. Sengir has, in his post quoted above, mentioned most of the points I would like to bring up, however, I find it necessary to elaborate.
A general sense of entitlement amongst those whom use Minecraft mods is that "You, modder, since I, the mighty MinecraftNoob use your mod, hence you are my slave, and must deliver me updates of your mod to me in a timely fashion or face punishemnt by the Space Wizards Federation (ss13 joke, couldn't resist )". We ALL know Eloraam is not like that. She throws out teasers and simple "So this is gonna be added, but when and how, I won't tell you." That is the attiude I see her show on Forgecraft as well. However, the spoilt kids whom got Minecraft as a birthday present along with $40 worth of other steam games do not understand Elo's stance. Having received everything at their demand, they don't understand the fact that Elo would like to take her time to update, nor do they understand the fact that modding is not trivial. I've seen and written basic obsidian tool mods and I am currently helping to maintain a few mods for others as well. I have encountered countless issues with porting to later versions or Minecraft and Forge, especially 1.2.5 -> 1.3.2. As a developer, I can understand how Elo would have felt, especially with Mojang throwing us updates every week.
To me, no news is good news. It means Elo is too busy working on the mod (that's a good thing) to actually be able to make time to communicate with the users. So sometimes, if you don't hear anything, it can be good. Don't forget that Elo has another project (a voxel game recreation she calls Minia last I checked) and that she may not have time to fully work on Redpower.
See my argument for a). Again, it is the same.
As again, I raise the argument of modding not being trivial and that the spoilt kids do not understand the work Elo has in front of her to port Redpower to other Minecraft versions. I've actually only seen one major mod developer that actively engages with the commmunity around his mod. His name is FlowerChild. Again, if you've actually taken a good look at BTW, FC only does small updates once in a while. Elo, on the other hand, likes to implement a lot of new features in her Minecraft version releases. Like in 1.2.5 we had Frames, which were quite a big component back in it's day. Everyone was playing with frames. This round we have the Sortron, the wind mills and all the other new features as seen in DW's Server Play. I leave you to dig out the videos yourself.
That is all. Bash me if you will, flame me if you will, tear this to pieces if you will, report if you will, because, honestly, this thread has turned into the worst sludge dump I've ever seen.
