DREAM-CRAFT

About DreamCraft: Dream-Craft is my idea(and now a W.I.P) for a mod....(obviously)! Dream-Craft is a mod that changes the way you will play minecraft for ever.In my opinion sleeping in MC is to easy . I think its kinda "Cheap" that with the click of a button you can get rid of all the monsters. I think they should have some kind of catch or challenge to sleeping.So heres the idea, the lower amount of hunger the lower chance for a better dream. On the other hand if you have a high amount of hunger your chances of a good dream go up. Theres a few ways to wake up...one is by dieing . Not really sure the percentages for that yet but eventually i will. There will obviously be two kinds of dreams...GOOD and BAD.
Good:Good dreams will consist of you spawning on somewhat of an Aether but definitely not in the sky. Basically it will be the same as normal MC but instead of dirt there will be a cloud like block.I still have ALOT of work to do and i still need some ideas for the good dreams.
Bad:A bad dream will be somewhat of a nether...To tell you the truth i dont like the nether...at all!I think it needs ALOT of changes to actually be "good"...(In my opinion).The bad dreams will not have nether rack AT ALL.If anything it will have more of an obsidian flooring/dirt.

The dream collector is basically what will collect all the items you have while your dreaming.Without it there really no reason to dream.

Good:
Angels: You can tame an angel by giving him/her/it a golden apple. Angels with be your ultimate companion, they are passive( they wont atack mods) but they do have some amazing features. When you take damage they will heal you. About 1 heart every 3 seconds. Also when you fall they will place a cloud under your feet so you can have a safe landing. If you give them glow stone dust they will lead you to a gold dungeon.

Fake Ores: These will be ores found on the surface, but when you atack they will atack you back. They are very strong they will have 6 hearts but when you kill them they will drop the ore that they "are" (just because you see an ore on surface doesn't mean its fake, there will still be REAL ores on the surface.

Panda Hugger: Cute little pink panda bears that will run straight towards you and hug you. Once they hug you they heal you for a heart and will pop. If you put one in a chest you can have a portable "Panda Hugger". With the "Panda Chest" you can carry it arround and heal yourself when you really need it. Then if you surround that "Panda Chest" with gold(or may be changed to diamonds) then it will be turned into "Super Panda Hugger" once you throw down this panda it will hug and help you out till it dies.
Bad:
Gargoyle:A gargoyle will spawn on top of stone dungeons which will only spawn in Bad Dreams.If you dont look at them they wont atack you...or move at all.If you do they will quickly come at you and you will have to kill them quickly or you will obviously die.
Im not completely sure what they will drop but thats why i need your ideas!


Thief: A theif is basically what you expect it to be. Thiefs wont spawn closely to each other.If a thief is within a 64 block radius of you then it can look at you.Once it looks at you it will come running at you slightly faster then the run speed of us(minecrafters).Once it gets you it will pick up the block that you have in your hand.Once its killed it will drop you item,AND some other item.Im not sure yet but probably like diamonds or something!

Chainsaw Pandas: These are the most ferocious bears you have ever met. These savages will come at you and will stop at nothing to get you. These pandas are crazy and want your meat, so I would recomend to stay away. They will drop cooked meat, and sometimes redstone/iron ingots.

Scary Faces: These faces will coming flying at you like ghast and once they hit you they will push you back 3 blocks and hurt you. Once killed they will drop rare items such as diamonds and iron.

Infinium Ore:
Found only in bad dreams.Can only be used to make armor.Armor is twice as tough diamond but decreases your movement speed by 25%.Also it can only be mined with an Iron+ PickAxe..Takes as long as redstone to mine.Last but not least it hurts you for half a heart every so often do to the poison located in the center of the ore!

Guide to responding to posts like a boss on the Minecraft Forums

In the spirit of THIS thread, I have constructed a simple guide to helping you respond to posts like a boss.


Step 1 - Read the OP fully before considering a response.
Make sure you understand the OP's intention of his/ her post.

Step 2a - If you don't understand the OP's question - Don't post.
Let the people who do understand the matter at hand post, otherwise you just look like an idiot.

Step 2b - If the OP doesn't make any sense, clarify the post.
Clarifying the confusing post will help the OP get his/ her question answered more quickly, and it will help you answer the OP in a proper manner.

Step 3 - It really does help if you use proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.
I will thank you for it, and the OP will understand your answer better.

Step 4 - Repeat step 1 and determine if you really need to post a response.

This suggestion is based on an interesting blog post regarding Notch's Enderman post.

The fun factor of Minecraft hinges upon danger and excitement. You feel very afraid of the monster and of the dark, which compels you to gain power and build a shelter. As the game tries to impede upon all your efforts, it feels very exciting. This is why Survival Mode is a lot more popular than Creative Mode.

But as you reach a certain point, the game becomes easy and the fear is gone. Everything is torched up. The mobs cannot get into your sanctuary. You have all the food and diamond equipment you need. At that point, the game is no longer scary. The game is no longer exciting.

I propose that there should be some sort of scaling system added into Minecraft. Scaling, as some of you know, is the computer adjusting the difficulty in response to the player's action. Certain games use this when the player begins to trump any opposition with ease. The game will then scale up the difficulty to keep the challenge at level with the player.

Similar to the standard difficulty, the scaling can be adjusted at four levels:

None: No scaling or random events.
Low: Scaling takes longer and is less severe, certain reactions may not take place.
Normal: Scaling is at normal levels, all reactions can happen at this difficulty.
High: The game scales quickly and the reactions are more harsh.

The scaling settings are independent from the difficulty settings, so you can still play on normal difficulty without scaling or even on hard difficulty.

Scaling is about detecting a "criteria", which is usually met when the player is doing too well, and responding with an proportionate "reaction". The criteria and reaction will vary on many different levels. For example, if the player hasn't died in a while, the game will react by spawning a dangerous mob or a random event. Once a certain result is achieved, the game will scale back the difficulty and the random event will stop.

The reactions will be based upon criteria such as:

• Survival: How long ago was the last player death.
• Items: Which and how many items the player has in his inventory.
• Level: How high the player's level is.
• Kills: Which and how many mobs the player has slain without dying.
• Misc: Other criteria which does not fit into the above.

...and will adhere to the following mechanics:

• Criteria: The criteria needed to trigger the reaction.
• Type: Whether the reaction is "Continuous" or an "Event".
• Frequency: If an event, how frequently does it happen.
• Effect: What the reaction does.
• Ends: Which criteria will cause the reaction to cease.
• Variables: Other factors which change how severe the reaction is.

A few hypothetical examples explaining how it would work.

Zombie Power Up
Criteria: 100 zombie kills
Type: Continuous
Effect: Zombies do an additional half heart of damage and have an additional heart of health.
Ends: Player death by zombie.
Variables: Extra half heart of damage and heart of health for every 100 additional zombie kills. Caps off at 3 hearts of damage and 6 hearts of health.

Zombie Siege
Criteria: Survive at least 9 days.
Type: Event
Frequency: Approx. once per 10 days upon nightfall.
Effect: Only zombies spawn at night with 300% spawn rate. Zombies have the ability to break blocks and open doors.
Ends: Sunrise

Luminance
Criteria: Survive 15 days without being attacked by an aggressive mob
Type: Continuous
Effect: Aggressive Mobs (excluding Creepers) can spawn in light levels 8 or less.
Ends: Player death.
Variables: For each additional 5 days survived, monster spawn at an extra light level. Caps off at 13.

King Spider
Criteria: 150 spider kills
Type: Event
Frequency: Immediate
Effect: Spawns one King Spider. A larger spider with 25 health, 3 damage per hit, etc...
Ends: When either the player or King Spider is dead.

I'm not sure if this is already on the way or not but you should make it so you can place mobs and animals in creative mode. Like if i wanna try and make a creature trap for show i can go into creative and just put them where i want them in the trap then build the trap around them. Or place them after i am done. That way i dont have to go and try to push them where i want them. This would also be fantastic for people who like to make animal farms.
