posted a message on How to completely clear a large area with World Edit?

For reasons that are probably not relevant, I want to recreate the Skyblock 2.1 world in 1.17.1 from scratch. Recreating the world was easy but now I have to clear an area from spawn completely by removing blocks all the way down to and including bedrock. The central cleared area in Skyblock is about 1400x1400x140 blocks, which is more than 274m blocks - far too many to do in one go.

I know how to select a region and replace all the blocks in it with air but because the area is quite large, I'm going to have to do this about 100 times so I don't crash my game and that is both going to be a pain but also it will be very easy to miss a bit.

Is there a way of doing this without having to manually enter pos1 and pos2 and run a replace command for 100 different sets of coordinates?

posted a message on Minecraft crashes on opening 3 out of 4 times on a Mac

I haven't seen any other reports of my problem but my Mac is and always has been fully up to date so that isn't the issue. I may try to uninstall Minecraft and reinstall it. It may recognise that I already have Oracle Java installed and use that although I have no idea whether that is the cause of the problem.

posted a message on Minecraft crashes on opening 3 out of 4 times on a Mac

I have been playing Minecraft on my 16" i9 MacBook Pro since I bought it about 9 months ago. Once it's started, it works really well. However, I often have to start it 4 or 5 times as it crashes regularly just before it goes full screen with the red Mojang splash screen.

When I initially installed Minecraft, my MBP was almost brand new and I hadn't installed Java separately. I did later install the latest version of Java from Oracle but I don't know which version Minecraft is now using nor whether this is a factor.

Does Minecraft launch reliably for other Mac users? If so, are you using the built-in version of Java?

posted a message on Skyblock 2.1 in 1.17 - finding a nether fortress

Clearly this didn't get a response so I'll add a bit about what I subsequently discovered in case anyone else finds my question in future.

The long and the short of it is that structures in the nether are absent altogether in the areas cleared out. By absent, I don't mean there are no blocks there (but of course there are not), I mean that there aren't even structure locations. I explored the Skyblock nether using the Bounding Box mod and the only nether fortress I could find was at the non-cleared area. A small part of that did stick into the cleared area but no nether fortress specific mobs generated there. Consequently, it was not possible to find any blazes in the cleared area no matter what.

In the end, I just went onto the nether fortress in the uncleared area, killed a few blazes and scarpered. It is slightly cheating (bridging to the mainland, which is effectively what I did, is specifically forbidden) but I had no choice.

posted a message on Skyblock 2.1 in 1.17 - finding a nether fortress

I started a new Skyblock (2.1) world a few days ago. I have played Skyblock a long time ago but things appear to have changed.

I want to find a blaze so I can make a brewing stand to cure zombie villagers. I looked up the nearest nether fortress using the Skyblock 2.1 seed but it does not take me to a nether fortress location or even to the correct biome, presumably because the nether was generated in an older version of Minecraft.

Does anyone either know the location of a nether fortress or how to find one, bearing in mind that the nether update happened between when the Skyblock 2.1 world was generated and 1.17.
