Anyone know of a mapping utility compatible with 1.7 pre=release?

I'd like to generate some maps to peruse of explored territory, but not sure what utility works currently (if any.)

AMIDST is compatible with several 1.7 snapshots. I used it this morning to look at a map I made with 1.7 pre. Looks good.

You can brew it into a potion of water breathing.

That's the pufferfish, not the clownfish. Clownfish does nothing right now but restore like one hunger point. Maybe later it can be used to create a chaos potion that applies a random shader?

posted a message on fishing overpowered, underpowered, or just right?
Having now spent considerable time fishing, I'd say that it is slightly overpowered. I find that by killing one spider and punching one tree, I can make one fishing rod, and the odds are that in using up that fishing rod, I will get at least one Enchanted Fishing Rod and one Enchanted Book. The enchanted books are awesome, and rare enough that I don't feel spoiled by them. But the fact that I get a new or slightly used fishing rod, almost always enchanted, means I never have to craft another one.

    Hence, slightly overpowered.

I must add that it doesn't ruin the gameplay for me. I enjoy collecting worn out leather boots and "repairing" them lol. The enchanted Rods, Bows and Books are reason enough for me to spend some downtime fishing. I like to fish near my farm, so the considerably large amount of time fishing uses up, serves multiple purposes.

EDIT: I should mention that I'm currently playing in the 13w38c snapshot.

only lame part of the change log. If players are two blocks high and the average male height is 6' then that means that Steve can only see 384 feet...I think he needs glasses.

Players are actually 1.7 blocks high. Each block is 1 meter. So Steve is approximately 5' 6" tall. Each chunk is 16 blocks across, giving Steve a view distance of 128 blocks, or about 420 feet. Of course, glasses won't help him see a world that doesn't even appear... :P

    Items falling downstairs....

I'm digging out some iron ore and coal above a wooden staircase, and I thought the item drops were going through the stairs... but it turns out they are sliding all the way down the staircase and collecting at the bottom.

    Is this new?

One problem I'm finding with the new climate controlled biome placement: I have been riding my horse northward for some time, and the biome types are the same all the time... The only snow I've found is on mountains.

Seems like there's a good chance I'll never find ice in this map....

most people don't want to go through 28 pages to find out if someone wrote something

Fortunately, there's a search box at the top of every page. If you think you've found something "new" (which is unlikely as of page 29), you can search just this topic for the very thing you think you've found.

I'm amazed at how many people have posted something like:
"I noticed that nobody mentioned the new volume controls settings..."

Try searching This Topic for "volume" and guess what you'll notice..

LOL @ anyone complaining that this snapshot makes Minecraft less "Minecraft-like"...
    1. Minecraft is whatever Mojang says it is.. which, at the moment, is THIS SNAPSHOT.
    2. Mojang makes changes to Minecraft based largely on input from the Minecraft user community (eg You, Me, the rest of this Forum, the Modders, et al)

Don't like it? Make a suggestion in the Ideas/Suggestions section of the forum. Or play the new version until you love it. Or go climb a tree.
