I had to disable biomes temporarily on my server and then continued to play on the server without it. Then turned it back on, but the biome didn't seem to reload in the area I usually play in.
Is there a way to force the biome to reload/regenerate on the map or is it actually already loaded and I'm crazy?
however for whatever reason some problems I've encountered so far are:
1. Mobs take FOREVER to kill (w/ a diamond sword).
2. Archers aren't shooting... at all.
3. Creeper's explosions seem to hurt you when they feel like it, but still destroy land. Like a boss.
4. No sound at all from damage, cactus, fall or monster inflicted. Which means you can't hear the Creeper's SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
5. When I hit respawn it doesn't take me back to the designated spawn area. Instead, I'm left hovering in.. nothing- Forcing me to type /spawn.
6. You can plant blocks around yourself. It seems like a buggy noclip.. from a bug. Yes, you'll die from planting them on yourself.
In a nutshell: They restrict the amount of ram Java can use, mine was restricted to ~100mb, The CEO is either clueless or not truthful about it, they have extremely poor customer service/quality assurance, and OpenVZ is awful at handling Java.
The problem is that HazeNet uses privvmpages....

Hm, I see. Thanks for your review. Good thing I only signed it for one month <_<, hopefully I'll have no reason to switch.
Add mr colin to your msn, and talk with him about what you need. You'll get a hell of a deal I got mine for about 50% of the market price.
My beast server specs are:
4 e5530 cpu cores. equilevant of a 2.9 quadcore
16 gig burst ram, with half of that dedicated to me.
100/100 mbit connection. 1 TB bandwith (can be upgraded at anytime i wish for free. and no extra charge)
200 gig hdd, (can be upgraded at anytime i wish for free. and no extra charge)
All this for 95$ per month?. BEAST. Go get it.
R U related to Colin Dunn ? LoL.
You have an unadvertised custom server, call him Mr Colin, and have his msn. Honestly, it'd be weird if you weren't related.
Most people are experiencing abysmal results with hazenet, myself included. I got 3 different answers to the same question. A tech said "we have limited the usage.", a senior admin told me "Just go read Notch's document ion and you'll figure out why it is so resource intensive." and Mr Colin said "it's not our problem as other users have been able to fix the issue themselves with some sort of workaround."
What's the problem? Hazenet seems cool. 2048 package, server is always up, I never feel any lag and I'm also using it as a Seedbox.
Granted I am kind of a nub with these things. And I suppose it should be noted that I don't have more than 5 people on at peak times.
I made a ticket asking about how to launch the server upon boot and the guy seemed completely useless, so I googled, got my answer and figured it out for myself.
Im sure there is a default command (That would be listed in one of the .txt files in your server folder!) that does that. I think its /setspawn
or you could set the spawn area in a map editor.
Yes but I'm looking for a way to make all players spawn in this spot upon logging in. Normally when you disconnect from the server and log back in, you reappear in the exact same spot as when you logged out. I'm looking to change this.
Just ordered a VPS from Haze, seems pretty good so far. Quick question tho:
Does anyone know what the best Linux Distro to install a server on would be? Would they all be the same? Currently using Cent, can choose from Arch, Debian, Fedora, Gentoo, OpenSUSE, Slackware, Trixbox or Ubuntu
(10.04 64 bit/lamp i386/minimal 64 or 32 bit/9.10)?
Is there a way to force my SMP server to use skins from The Painterly Pack as the default skins, so that it becomes the default everyone sees upon joining (instead of the default Minecraft skins)?

If not, does anyone know if there's any alternatives for SMP, or if it's even possible?

forgive me if this is the wrong section, I'm not sure where it should go.
Is there a way to set a spawn, then force people to spawn there upon logging into my SMP server?

Bump, anyone have any solutions to make the server autosave? (particularly, every 5 minutes)?
EDIT: Found this, I like it. Anyone know of any others?
