I have to disagree. Why do ants spit? Why is sponge randomly spawning? The sponge in minecraft is not alive, nor a sea sponge. If the crabs are basically spiders, what's unique? Even though they drop the shells, I wouldnt even use it. And logs floating in rivers? In my opinion it will look weird.

Some real ants can spray poison.

Sponges are already only obtainable from water.

Crabs are unique because they are found underwater.

The floating logs are to improve the crocodiles' disguise.

What biomes would they spawn in? Maybe crocodiles in swamps?

Ants would spawn in forests, and crocodiles would be found in swamps.

Here is a set of ideas for more animal life in Minecraft.

    Sponges

There should be small stacks of wet sponge in warm oceans. Not much to this bit.

    Crabs

Crabs would effectively be spiders, except that they would spawn on ocean floors, and beaches, and would also move sideways. They would have a chance to drop the crab shell, which works like the turtle shell, except that it gives night vision instead of resistance.

    Ants

Ants would have a nest, like bees. They would collect leaf blocks from the environment, and bring them to the nest. They will shoot projectiles like llama spit, which cause poison.

    Crocodiles

First, there would be floating wood in all water, which would be an entity which floats in water, and drops a log when broken. Crocodiles look like floating wood. They would attack when the player got close.

Take into account tha tthe sling is a lot cheaper than the gun, so logically the gun should be superior, if anything. Or at least have a relationship similar to that between the Bow and the Crossbow.

    OK

The gun and the sling should be the other way around, specially if the former is supposed to be a bit like the earlier guns.
Also, both should use actual ammo items, and they should get enchantments.
Javelins and war darts should be more different from each other.

The sling is meant to be sort of balanced with the gun, but have a shorter, more realistic range.

    I'll create some enchantments.

War darts in real life are javelin variants, so it would make sense for them to work similarly.

Why do we need these? How are they useful?

The spear can attack mobs too far away for any other melee weapon, The javelin is a bow alternative when there is no flint, feathers, or string availible, The war dart is also good for when bows are infeasible, and deal more damage, The gun is mainly for realism (If gunpowder can to harvested from common pests, guns will exist), but can also be used to shoot something too far away for a bow, and The sling is a bow and gun alternative if there is no wood availibe.

    Do any mobs use these?

Skeletons would have a chance of using javelins or war darts, and Zombies will sometimes use spears.

    Spear

The spear is crafted with two sticks and a tool material (iron, diamond), along the diagonal. They have slightly less damage than a sword, but have very long reach.

    Javelin

The javelin is crafted with 3 sticks in a line. It can be stacked and thrown.

    War Dart

The war dart is crafted with the arrow recipe, but with an iron nugget instead of flint. They are like javelins, but go further.

    Gun

The gun is crafted with 2 iron bars, and planks. It requires bullets (crafted from an iron nugget) and gunpowder. It shoots a fast, but weak projectile. It can get the propelling enchantment, which increases the speed and damage of the bullet, and the thief enchantment, which gives a chance of each attack causing an item to drop.

    Sling

A sling is crafted with leather and 3 string, in a diamond shape. It can fire bullets, which are slower, but deal slightly more damage than a gun. It can get the propelling enchantment, and the leech enchantment, which causes a percentage of the damage to be healed in the user of the sling.

You can get orokhalkon, which is rather useful. It can also be useful for farming bubbleplants.

Yikes, the amount of stuff in there that needs detailing…

    Picking one:

Orokhalkon (waterproof redstone) would be absolutely game changing.

No longer would a mis-broken block be able to wash out chunk sections of intricate builds,

nor would cable vaults be needed to wire the ugly, obscuring lighting needed to allow one's bubble free underwater builds to be admired in safety.

Given the state secondary use of farming bubble plants, some renewable source of this additioon ought be included to avoid the obliteration of the containing biome. [This may well be justification for adding this as a dimension as the orokhalon supply would then be more nearly hypothetically unlimited, as with nether quartz. (In both cases the size of the world one's computer can effectively store/support imposes a finite limit.)]

Orokhalkon is just so that redstone can be used in the rougeworld. The bubbleplant bubbles regrow, and are easy to farm.

The rougeworld is a dimension. It can have no air, instead it is all replaced by water. It has a roof, like thenether. The roof is made of ice, packed ice, and blue ice, and the floor is the same, but with stone underneath, and some gravel. There is iron and gold in the stone. There are volcanos. They are full of magma blocks, and are made of stone, iron, gold, diamonds and orokhalkon. Orokhalkon is basically yellow redstone that works underwater. Exposed orokhalkon ore can have bubbleplants growing on them. Bubbleplants have dark-blue stems, with the width of a fence, with a glowing yellow 'bubble' at the top. The bubble will regrow if removed. It can be eaten, to give water breathing and night vision for 2 minutes, and 6 hunger points. There is also variously coloured seagrass on the top and bottom of the rougeworld. The surfaces are covered in slug-like creatures of various colours, sizes, and, proportion with some having various numbers of legs. They mainly have feathery structures on the front, sometimes the back also, but a few are hostile, and have long horizontal jaws, and some others have shorter jaws, and eat seagrass. There are also swimming creatures. These also vary in the same ways, except that they are less flat, and some have crushing jaws and eat bubbleplant bubble, but never seagrass. It is reached by an underwater packed ice portal, which is upright like a nether portal, automatically lit when made, and is blue-swirling.

I am very much against the idea of adding guns into minecraft as it doesn’t fit the style of the game.

How does it fit the style of the game any less than electronic cannons powered by 19th century explosives?
