Ok so I figured out it had to do with the fact that I was already using MCregion before the conversion. So I restate the problem.

Anyone have a way to convert old MCregion format to new MCregion format without reverting to an earlier save file.

BTW, as it stands now I probably get about -50% usefulness out of this forum.

This idea seems to be a good one, but IMO, some of the elements should be changed. The one I hate the most about this is the 1st one. Take with it what you will.

1: No dimensional travel crap: Just because Notch added the Nether doesn't mean that you have to create another shitty dimension to relegate every idea into. What you should do is stick Dinosaurs into an alternate biome that appears under certain conditions (such as being surrounded by large bodies of water like the island int he movie or tall mountain formations). I think that dinosaur areas should appear as a subset of rainforest biomes, possibly being a rare occurrence to maintain balance. Savannah biomes could probably have this as well, but having the Jurassic mobs and block drops only appear in "the past" or "dimension" is just really stupid. We can't have a Jumanji dimension, an Aether, a Nether and have to deal with tiresome portal fetch quests every time we feel like exploring.

2: Don't remove vanilla Minecraft mobs: In the same biome, I still think that skeletons, zombies and creepers should appear in the tropical/Jurassic biomes in dark areas, such as damp overhang areas.

3: Non-lethal natural tar pits: I think that the tar pit idea should be a liquid that is highly viscose and naturally appears rarely in normal biomes, but much more common in Jurassic biomes. They should be 1 to 2 tiles deep only and they should be easy to escape as a result. You would have to collect it and make deeper pits yourself to utilise them as traps.

4: Scrap the time blocks and time fragments: Seriously. It's just out of place for Minecraft, and it's probably easier if you could make a wall clock just by getting a normal clock and some string instead of having the laughable time fragments crafting thing.

5: No needless additions: Forget the fossil brush, mammoth meat blocks and the raptor claws. The mammoth wool could work well as a replacement for the missing brown wool, but the meat block thing is stupid. The mammoth should just drop a consumable item(s?) you can cook and nothing more. Maybe the meat block could work if you had a use beyond "it looks cool because a mammoth is big, hence the block". The fossil brush is about as useful as adding a screwdriver. It's just easier to mine the fossils by hand instead of taking up space with a needless tool.

6: Some new suggestions: I think that a simple retexture of smoothstone should be added, and much like the different types of wood appearing for different damage values, this darker Jurassic smoothstone should behave the same way as an aesthetic addition. In the same way, the vine-like grass you suggested would work well as a damage value swapped grass block. They would appear in Jurassic biomes. If cobblestone is out in the open next to viney grass, then it should turn into mossy cobblestone and spread.

I think there should also be an emphasis on wide waterfalls and river systems cutting through the jungles to help with the atmosphere. In the same Jurassic biomes I also think there should be caves with dinosaurs inside and possibly even openings in the ground leading into cave entrances. I can't suggest much for cave systems, but if you thought of stuff to add to caves in Jurassic biomes (assuming you scrap the dimension idea) then you'd have a pretty solid mod.

I agree entirely. Cut out all the unnecessary stuff, juts make craftable dinosaurs or I guarantee this idea will stale on the bench. The quicker you can get it out the better.

Ever heard of the expression that says you work your way from the simple to the more complex. Make fossils and craftable dinosaurs and release then see where you go from there. Even ONE craftable dinosaur would be nice. Heck, it doesn't even need to be craftable, make a mob T-Rex or raptor and see where you can go from there. Don't bite off more than you can chew.

Let me give you guys an example. I came on here with a legitimate post asking if anyone knew how to fix the FPS lag after beta came out.

I got TONS of replies, having to do with everything from "YOU STOLE YOU ACCOUNT, YOU HAVE A PIRATED COPY" to "YOUR COMPUTER IS CRAP", none of which were true

After nearly a hundred replies just like this I finally, after much searching stumbled upon Optiminer and MCRegion (which notch is apparently including in the game now).

Those two things were what I was looking for, My FPS went from 10 to 100 after using them, and yet I had to spend forever looking for them on my own when someone could have just told me about it. The point of the forum is for people to help each other out which is why I think that seriously, you people DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT A FORUM IS.

I don't know how you function in the real world if this is how you operate. If you have something useful to say then say it otherwise, stop being a jerk. And yes people do give away their accounts because they are tired of playing the game and want someone else to enjoy it rather than just let it sit empty.

    No to MY post, geesh.

Im saying everyone is wasting their time being a jerk on here, why not do something productive and reply to legitimate posts rather than go on a witch hunt.

Ok. Grammar stuff aside (and I don't even want to mention the number of people who criticized his grammar and misspelled the word grammar), I just have to say this.

You guys are seriously the biggest group of a :Spider: :Spider: holes I have ever seen.

He wasn't trying to steal anyone's account, he was just seeing if anyone had an account that they don't use anymore. My brother has a pre-beta account that he doesn't use anymore. I know two other people that gave away their accounts because they didn't want to waste their time playing the game.

After seeing the type of jerk this game turns you into, I am about to join them, so there is yet another person that might want to give out their account. It's recycling people, why just let an account sit empty when someone else could get some enjoyment out of it.

And like they would actually post it on the forum if they did, they would send a PM or email, common. That's how my other friends did it anyways.

So shame on all of you you dumb :Sheep: it morons for being total craps.

Why is it everyone posts something all you crackheads have to go and molest them to death like this??? And yet I have a post about a legitimate problem and no one is willing to reply.

    Hmmm.....

Wow this is the least amount of reply I have seen from any post on this forum ever.

Usually there are one or two people willing to say something stupid at least. Haha.

Does anyone have a solution to the save file conversion bug which takes everything back to a really early version?? Even if you try a second time it seems to do the same thing.

Also it seems like it has something to do with modding, because the version it takes me back to is pre-any modifications. However, I think just updating the mods (whenever this happens) still won't change the fact that the conversion tool will take your save file back to before modding.

So does anyone know anything about a way to solve this problem yet? Does anyone have a mod that just adds the new features so i can keep playing it in version 1.2?

    Thanks,

And before any of you overly bored 12 year old trolls get excited, yes I have a legally purchased minecraft account and no, it's not the same username as my minecraft forum one.

Just an idea but I think that creating a whole new dimension for the dinosaurs might not be the best idea to start with, just because the amount of detail you will have to add to make it interesting at all would be ridiculous.

Why not for the first run just make it like this: You can dig in the main world for fossils just like any other mineral. You have different fossil types for different dinosaur's etc. etc.

Make dinosaurs essentially craftable creatures then by requiring someone to collect a full skeleton (of a certain type of dinosaur), and then require people to collect a certain number of pieces of technology to make a machine to reanimate the skeleton.

Once you have crafted the creature it is free to do what it wants, it could turn on you and try to eat you or whatever, but the main thing is that it stays spawned (kind of like a farm animal in farmcraft), and generally stays close to where it was made until it is killed, in which case you can get the skeleton back and store it away to reanimate later. Then you can collect skeletons and try to establish a population of them. You could even have ways to make them breed on their own, etc. but that seems a little too much to start. Just let the person have the fun of making the dinosaurs and set them free on their world and see what happens.

Then you can do fun stuff like generate the dinosaurs down in a pit or a moat and use them to guard you home or whatever. Maybe a system to tame them so that they don't attack you but defend your place by wandering around and attacking anything else. Like maybe another piece of technology, like a modulator that you have to successfully shot at the dinosaur to make it tame towards you and act like a guard. That would be cool. I think it would be fun to just let them be wild also, just running around in your world, not knowing when they might show up and attack.

Creating a new dimension though seems like it might be a little too much to start with though, and the way I have suggested here you could probably pull together tomorrow if you wanted!

I think eventually way down the road being able to travel to another dimension to see dinosaurs would be really cool too, but until you can do it right, why not give us some type of dinosaur action now with this shorter way??

Ok I just want to say to everyone that posted on here saying that it was my "crappy" computer or "crappy" video card all of you are

    EPIC FAILURES.

Why? Because, someone, in all this parade of (crappy) opinions should have told me about MCREGION and OPTIMINER.

WHY OH WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST TELL ME ABOUT THIS??? This is what I wanted to know.

Now the game runs so fast I don't even know what to do with it. Literally no lag and 100 FPS. That is all I needed.

Thanks everyone ...for nothing. Haha, just kidding some of you were somewhat helpful.

Others were just :SSSS: s. Ok Im going to call this closed.

    Ok this is weird.

For about two days it worked absolutely perfectly. I had like 30-40 fps. No problems. Then today I turn it on and its doing the same lag spiking 0-20 fps again. I really don't understand why this is happening. Its not like all of my specs are variable. This makes no sense to me.

Lurker, seriously a troll that trolls people by accusing them of trolling?? That's about the stupidest most pathetic thing I have ever seen.

What I meant was that I don't have $2000 to spend just to buy a whole new computer to play minecraft. Everything else that I would ever want to run works fine.

Would you spend $2000 to play minecraft?

As of now you are the one trolling me. Everyone else is (currently) trying to relate experiences/give advice. Maybe you need to learn what a forum is.

Also, BTW people with good graphics cards are experiencing almost the exact same symptoms. Do a search for Lag Spikes. I honestly don't think thats the problem. I think it has something to do with the less than 5% usage thing I mentioned a while back, I wish there was a way to tweak that but nobody knows I guess.

Btw, what do you mean by removing all previous versions? Does this actually help? Its a fresh install of Windows 7 so I just installed Java once and it is the most recent version so I don't think that's the issue.
