I like the new additions but it would be nice if they didn't all require keeping the minecraft wiki open while you play.

So did they actually say yogscast made minecraft popular or just yogsBox.

If yogsBox you can't really deny that modders have contributed a lot to minecraft.

    Quote from thelegendaryblah

global warming is not happening and it is really just the cycle of earth, the temperature is much hotter during the age of the dinosaurs

The temperature was much hotter in prehistory because the carbon dioxide levels were higher, the temperature decreased as atmospheric carbon dioxide became locked away in the fossil fuels we are burning now.

    Quote from thelegendaryblah

besides it is irrelevant as our major energy source will be changed soon due to advancement in technology and possible positive output from our nuclear fusion technology from the ITER experiment

In theory yes, in practice nuclear fusion has been just around the corner since the 1950's.

EDIT: This discussion seems to be devolving.

If your going to claim anything is unscientific but refuse to provide any remotely scientific argument as to why there is nowhere for it to go.

I never said that he was.

then why do you keep bringing him up.

    Quote from Farsight

I might have worded that a little poorly. What I meant is that Al Gore is acting like a close-minded conspiracy theorist. You're starting to sound angry; please calm down (but then again, Poe's Law).

I think your acting like a close minded conspiracy theorist since your dismissing all the science becouse you don't like one person that's only tangentially related to the issue.

Al Gore maintains that global warming is too urgent to warrant any debate

    Al Gore isn't a scientist

    Quote from Farsight

which is contradictory to what (most) scientists

Most scientists believe that humans are effecting the climate though burning fossil fuels but what to do about is outside the scope of science.

    Quote from Farsight

It's like a publicized conspiracy theory, in my opinion.

So science doesn't matter because ITS A CONSPIRACY!!!!!!

    Al Gore is a hypocrite.

    Undermines this
    Quote from Farsight

The "scientific consensus" of global warming is unbelievable, as it undermines the scientific method.

Explain how its unscientific instead of immediately resorting to political mud slinging.

Well to dumb it down nobody has done any research on just how well co2 insulates.

Just because you don't understand anything doesn't mean no research has been done on it.

Fun fact: Cities and villages close to temperature measurement stations all over the world are growing, getting closer to those stations. Cities and villages are usually slightly warmer than plain land. Houses, for example, take up heat during the day, releasing it again during the night. They also prevent wind from passing freely trough the village, so the warm air will stay there more easily, allowing it to gradually become warmer.

How is this causing the north west passage to melt?

Power plants, on the other hand, operate at between 33% and 50% efficiency when turning that chemical energy into electrical energy.

Depends on the type, a natural gas turbine with steam co-generation can reach 80%.

    EDIT:

Looking it up high percents are possible but 60% is the most economical for combined cycle gas turbine.
