I like the idea of having to use these "Booster Tracks" to go over steep hills with the powered minecarts
The recipe should be :
= actual tracks = Redstone Dust (Must be connected to a circuit to work) = Gold bar (where the redstone dust needs to be connected) = IRON! :biggrin.gif:
or icychameleon's idea :biggrin.gif:
Well the layout just doesn't look correct if you think about all the other recipes in this game. They are all pretty logical and you can pretty much guess them if you think about it. Thats why I proposed the idea I did. Maybe it should just be: [] []
all connected to a gear when Notch gets them sorted =]
I think that it is a consensus though that we need a replacement for the mine cart boosters. It is necessary to move carts up hill. Especially in a mine.
But the whole point of gold, from what I have heard, was that it was supposed to be used for some sort of magic. Why not booster tracks?
Gold doesn't have a point, its a useless material in the game. The reason people keep suggersting it as a magical material is because they can't figure out what to do with it. I haven't heard notch mention it (but it would make sense and I've nothing against it). It just bothers me how people suggest things like barrels and other everyday things and suggest making them out of gold for the hell of it. Not that minecraft is a strictly logical game or anything but I don't think we need to go overboard with new ideas just to find something to do with all the gold in our chests.
Heres something much nicer from another thread:
Possibly alternately powered by a furnace like powered minecarts but you get the point.

Yeah, that is indeed a good idea, but when using these mine carts (going from place to place usually in caves) you won't (or at least I wouldn't) have the room to put those underground. Those would be sweet for above ground though to transport the cart or goods from place to place. I was just thinking about a more compact cart booster, I know Notch is working with gears. and maybe that will have something to do with it. But Mainly I think that the red stone dust should be implemented because it needs to be powered. That is the only reason it was there. But maybe combining the two (gears and red stone dust track idea) But It was just an idea. =]
I think that this would be a good idea, Notch would have to implement all of these items. But having a slot specifically for those would be great. The only problem would be if these items weren't implemented with the accessory slot, then it would be useless for the longest time. I think that if he were to update this into the game he would have to do it in a bundle, with the items that go into your accessory slot.
Otherwise this is a good idea in my opinion. You should write up the item creation for these items that would go into the accessory slot. =]
Sorry, but the recipe makes no sense. I'd like something a bit more creative like an actual mechanical solution. I'm not a fan of how recipe proposals are increasingly becoming a case of "make it out of gold" just to differenciate/balance it.
Its true though, it would be a pity if the booster glitch was fixed and all we were left with was gravity.
But the whole point of gold, from what I have heard, was that it was supposed to be used for some sort of magic. Why not booster tracks?
Maybe not all gold, just the ones adjacent to the red stone dust to give it power or something like that.
[] []
Like that? Or maybe use diamond in place of the gold there to make it more stable?
I think that it could be used in conjunction with the powered minecarts if they are ever implemented. Why wouldn't they be able to work together? Maybe make the powered minecarts not able to go up steep hills of like 10 unless it has a booster track?
This is new to me. I got the game when the server went down to try it and I have been playing it for a month or so before buying it. But anyways I hope you guys like this idea.
EDIT
It would look something like this: [] []
Gunpowder is where the red stone dust should be.
1) So this booster track is made just like a regular track piece, or a ladder. But instead of using iron for the sides, use gold so it is a little more difficult to make. In the center of the piece make it redstone to give it power to move the cart.
2) This would be good to replace the minecart booster glitch, so that you can move your carts uphill and around without having to get out and push it some more. maybe it would move your minecart 50 blocks at max speed before the momentum goes out.
3) There isn't anything that I can think of at the moment that would make this unreasonable... any ideas?
The one thing that made me come up with this was because gold is essentially useless as of right now. The tools and armor are terrible, and the gold block is really only for storage, or looks. So why not give it a little use. It is rare, which would make the cart harder to make, considering that it takes 6 gold bars. Also this would keep it from getting too overpowered in my opinion. I have been playing for a month now, and I have only 20 gold bars.
Please I am open to all feedback. (Please make it constructive =])
