I had installed the wrong version of Java. Although he has a 64 bit version of Windows 7, he had a 32 bit browser. I merely installed the 32 bit version of Java first, and I launched Minecraft and it worked.
Thank you for your help, and my brother thanks you too.
Do you have any special characters in your Windows username? This includes exclamation marks (!)
What antivirus is installed on that computer?
What does the launcher look like? Does it only display a grey background where the update news is supposed to be? Or is the dirt background on the footer replaced with a pure black background?
Nope, his Windows username is just his name (Jordan) and his Minecraft username is simply Razer_Electra
He has Malware Bytes anti-malware (as of yesterday, but the problem has been around for some time), Advanced SystemCare 6, and iObit Malware Fighter (same things I have)
His Minecraft launcher has the dirt underneath the Minecraft logo, and where you put your username and password, and options and login, but then it's just a gray screen with some HTML code in black font at the top.
In circumstances usually relating to piracy, the operating system's hosts file may need to be inspected to ensure that the system can connect to minecraft's login servers.
You may have a problem with your hosts file, which overrides DNS queries. Please follow the following directions:
Hold down the Windows key, and press R. In the window that appears, enter "%SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc", and press Enter.
In the window that appears you will see a file, "hosts". Open that file in Notepad, and copy the contents onto Pastebin, and give us the resulting URL.
For some reason, my little brother can't connect to Minecraft on his laptop. He can only play offline mode. He's connected to the internet and everything (posting this from his laptop) and I made sure that everything is up to date.
He's running a 64 bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium.
Laptop is an Acer Aspire 7739G-6647 with an i3 370M processor @2.4GHz, 6GB DDR3 RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M GPU.
Everything is up to date. I uninstalled and re-installed Java. I deleted Minecraft and re-downloaded it, but I had to also download a pirated version because I couldn't even download any of the data files for the original Minecraft. (Don't worry, he did buy an account, so he has a legit version.)
There's no crash report or anything. I tried using the Magic launcher to see if that would do anything, but it didn't. I have no idea what to do and any help would be welcome. Thank you.
Instructions:
1. Open the launcher.
2. Click the options button.
3. In the Options window, click the 'Force Update' button.
4. Close the options window.
5. Login.
And then hopefully everything works. But, if not - or if you have already tried this - post back here.
I've tried forcing updates, deleting the .minecraft folder, deleting certain files in the bin folder, deleting the bin folder completely. I've tried everything. I have mods or anything installed either. And I've even deleted everything. Still doesn't work
I was playing it in the morning, I save, close it, and when I come back to it an hour later, it just kept crashing.
Do you have minecraftsp or have you installed a mod? If you do that occurred often to me when I had sp now I have the full version so it doesn't happen for me. It might be where you are located.
I am located in Canada, and I've been playing Minecraft no problem for well over a month.
I have no mods installed. I've even deleted the .minecraft file, rebooted my computer and tried launching again, and still nothing.
This is what I get:
" Minecraft has crashed!

Every time I launch the minecraft.exe file, I get the "Minecraft Launcher" screen where I enter my username, and I can force update and whatever, but when I log in, I just get a black screen and then a crash report. It's been like this for over a week now. Any help please?

Before the 1.6 update, I was getting (on average) 120FPS+ on my laptop, but now I'm struggling to maintain even 30FPS. How come?
Laptop specs are Intel i7 3630QM Quad-core processor (2.4GHz, 3.4GHz Turbo boost), 8GB DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT630M GPU, running Windows 8

Thank you very much, that fixed the problem.

Yeah, but I'm kinda stumped as to how the hell I'm gonna manage to actually do the corners like that.
By corners I mean the edges where they meet on the inside, rather than the outside.

I resolved my problem.
Turns out I just needed to update my graphic card drivers.

I really had no idea where to post this exactly, so I'll post it here.
Can someone please tell me how to make a roof like that, or make a video tutorial please?
