You could use wood in place of the grass, and smoothstone instead of the gravel. However, if you are to use brick, then I would suggest obsidian. If you would like, logs would also go with your theme of wood.
Yeah, I was thinking this too. Now I have a bunch of brick though. Any ideas of how I can use it in my buildings to make them look nicer?

I would actually suggest using a different material for the pathway, and keeping the grass how it is. Maybe use brick + smoothstone for the walkway?
Actually, I just started the placing of the brick around my house. It actually looks really nice, except of course, the gravel walkway. I need something darker. I was thinking cobblestone, or maybe black wool, in which case... it's punching time.. :Sheep:. Any other suggestions for the walkway? Or maybe replacing the walkway with the brick, like you said, and then using something else for the grass parts? I just really don't like the grass.
